There are a ton of movie making programs out there. Windows Movie Maker is the most basic and comes with Windows in some cases.

With regards to using tracks. You record footage from the tracks using a program called fraps...

go to www.fraps.com (http://www.fraps.com) to download it

And yeah if youre new to movie making i too suggest hovering around VWC for a while. Theres a ton of people who share your interests and will be happy to help with any questions...(not that we arent here @ UBI http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif )

you must have got Fraps 2.0 demo..... most people use the 1.9 version which is free although it doesn't capture sound...
get that seperately with a simple program such as 'coolsoft mp3 sound recorder' which can capture any sound playing on your computer....(movies, CD's, etc)and can put it into mp3 or wav.... try grabbing some movie music from the pros, especially the end-titles music...

I have fraps 1.9, and it records only about two thirds of the frame. maybe my windows player is configured wrong.

buggggggged, it's not your windows player that is giving you the trouble. You have to set your game resolution to 640x480. Otherwise Fraps captures only a portion of your track.
