Does the environment in the demo demonstrate any environmental destructability?

I know this was one thing the game boasted (i.e. environmental destructability/alteration etc.)

Want to know what I'm in for if I download the demo.

I expected it too, but unfortunatly it's not in the demo.

But even without it, IT LOOKS FOOKING GREAT, GAMEPLAY IS FANTASTIC AND THE AI IS THE BEST EVER.

HL2 sucks compared to Far Cry

I did noticed that when you use the machete on the trees, you have neat slice marks. That threw me off a little.

what the hell are you talking about, hl2 isnt released yet, how can you judge something you don't know ???

You'll notice there may be an option menu that u cant access, it may have terrain destructability in there.
Dont have the demo but on most sites it has the contents of the menu and stuuf.

yeh, looked pretty pap to me... no terrain deformation /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif and most of the textures look like just photos, i mean some of the plants, the reflection is part of the texture, (rather than being calculated etc.) and it still runs crap on my gf4!

Probably because some people have the leaked beta, i have it and i think Far Cry is so much better.

Yeah, I've seen the previews (I always trust IGN the most) but still, nothing was mentioned about environmental destructability. I thought that was going to be a part of the game, at least to some degree... but I'm not seeing anything about it.

There is a little bit of environment destruction possible. It is only possible on spots where no trees/structures/stones are close (as previously stated on another thread). When you start the mission steal a patrol boat and switch the gun to rocket. Now you'll be able to shoot holes in the ground. The one place where I managed to create some nice craters is one beach to the left of where the docks are. The one with the broken patrol boat on the beach. I tried to make the patrol boat fly in the air when I noticed the crated I created. But other than that I haven't noticed other terrain destruction possibilities.

Nice screenshots maomao, but why aren't I seeing those nifty dynamic lighting things on my system? I have all settings at highest, but still no nice dynamic lighting... Would it have sth to do with an automatic detail throttle based on cpu? Have a very slow one /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif By the way.. Graphics Card is Gforce4 4200ti

I would have to say you need a dx9 card, but I could be wrong. Maybe you have to turn up the in game video settings a little higher?
