Before Closing something that does not digests as easy as a "This Game Rocks" thread, reply to this instead of closing it down like has happend far to often lately.
If for some reason this thread gets closed pure for hiding the truth from the public would i like for you to know that i will have this thread mirrored on a sum of big Raven Shield (Ubisoft) related fan site's, any response or acount activity will get forwarded to those threads as well.
We, The community hand over millions! of dollars for games that mark your 'e brand, and by the number of posts that state negative experiences we are not happy with the support UBISOFT is supplying us with.
One of the biggest factors in this are the forums.
Questions get dodged or just deleted.
Tech support mail responses come strait from the FAQ which holds out of date info.
Forum members get banned from the forums for no legit reason.
Stories of ppl's CD Key getting banned from the master server for sending a reply to tech support stating there not happy with the response they got.
Distance to the developers them selfs, no notions referring to fix patch development.
...
As a community spokesmen would i like to ask for an explanation, should we not get any, it will be our task to fill the awnsers in our self, and as it looks right now, they will not be positive.
I dont have to explain how negative publications affect sales, specialy if they are made by a large enough part of the community it self.
Hope to hear from you asap.

well the forum guildlines are clearly laid out when you apply for your sign-in name. If you break those rules then the thread is locked. Remember this isn't a 'public' forum, but a private meeting place owned by Ubisoft and they have stated what the rules are.

Thx for the fast reply, but with all the respect, but is this another Copy/Paste out of the dodge reference ?
I suggest this gets passed on to some one who can talk more freely, we can no longer take this.
So guys.
I have the feeling the ppl working for Ubisoft are kept silenced, time to aim higher up, these issues will get recognized, i have the time, and the recourses.

Hi DigitalSmoke,
I'll be glad to answer your questions, but you must know that a lot of people are asking questions that are answered in FAQ. That's the purpose of the FAQ.
I think I can talk for the dev team. The development team doesn't have time to answer to every single questions posted on the forum. They are too busy to do so. I take some of my personnal time for supporting the community, I know that some other do that too.
Of course, if you ask me a question that was asked from someone else, I'll copy and paste it the answer, or point you the link the my answer. This help me to save time and answer more people.
Again, I don't have time to go through thousand threads a week, so I give you tricks to catch (and keep) my attention:
- Short and precise subject
- Don't complain, ask question
I'm also inviting you to see some of the other Raven Shield web site. You can find them at the following link:

Thank you Arsenic for stepping in, i must say this shows good will, ill drop a few questions just to make sure you're not sweet talking us /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
Even clients with high end gaming rig's are getting slow performance, this has to do with the CPU being over accessed by multiple parts of the code (Both SFX and GFX related), is this recognized by the team and are you working on tweaking this?
If so, are there ways found within the game code to draw the GFX at the speed that we can expect from todays hardware ?
Does CD KEY master server work in sync with the clients?, as in, are the problems existing now client or server related ?
How much progress is there made involving the next patch ?.
Fast, Constructive, And I'm not even complaining, got to love it.

Hmmm... are the devs actually reading the forums and are they following the suggestions of the players? I have yet to see ANY confirmation of this. No doubt the bugs are being adressed but what about the gameplay issues? Are guns gonna get LESS reticle bloom on the move? Is weapon changing/nade changing gonna get faster? And there are many more other gameplay issues which populates this forum.

a lot of the gameplay can be changed by mods, so I don't think that will be adressed. The Gunslinger mod has already changed the rets.

Just don't confuse "suggestions" of some as the wishes of the majority. This reticle thing is coming from maybe four or five people, and I've seen NOBODY (`cept you, presumably) who wants "faster weapon changing". If I wanted CS, I'd play CS.

Hi all,
First of all, we read the forum and most of the threads.
I'm answering questions since three weeks now and i think that telling Ubi soft don't support the community is not true.
We can't tell you what will be in the next patch, we still working on the next patch but we can't tell you the content of that patch.
Also, we will not change the gampley of Raven Shield because 2 players out of 2,500 complaint about on thing.
We know that the game have some problems and we are working on. But some little things takes more time that you can imagine and we need to set some priority when we are doing patches. I completly understand that it can be bad for some people but please be patient, there's some good stuff coming for futur patches.
Thanks

Ummm mods can't do anything until they release the real power to mod. Any modding done now to the .u files is probably in breach of the End User License.

I think what mousiehamster was refering to is the long time delay of switching from a frag, flash, or gas grenade back to a weapon. this is a very well documented want in this forum. The ability to change directly from a grenade to a weapon instead of another frag.

Some simple, short questions that hopefully DEV team can answer for us...
1. Is the low FPS issue going to be solved in a patch or in an expansion?
2. Many people who play the game (not just 1 or 2) feel that reticle bloom penalties are not severe enough for extreme movement, but are too severe for moderate to slight movement. It is felt that this creates a 'run and gun' environment that is contradictory to what tactical FPS gameplay should be. Is this issue a concern for the next patch, or is it considered a 'gameplay issue' that will never be changed?
3. Is the ability to climb onto/over logical map objects under consideration or is it a 'gameplay issue' that will never be changed?
4. RvS was advertised as having a bullet penetration system. There is currently no such system in place. Is the DEV team working on adding it, or is it a 'gameplay issue' that will never be addressed?
5. It is felt by many (more than 1 or 2) that the amount of damage reduction caused by a supressor is too severe. Is this a 'gameplay issue' that will never be changed?
6. Sniper rifle damage is not felt to be realistic (IE tangoes surviving shots that would tear through a tank). Is this a gameplay issue that will never be changed?
Thank you for your time and attention

Some simple, short questions that hopefully DEV team can answer for us...
1. Is the low FPS issue going to be solved in a patch or in an expansion?
We will optimise the netcode in futur patches, but not now.
For the FPS, there's a lot of things that you can do to have better framerate. Having a good soundcard is a must, we support soundblaster live and higher.
We don't planned to change that for the moment.
3. Is the ability to climb onto/over logical map objects under consideration or is it a 'gameplay issue' that will never be changed?
No, it's too difficult to implement. This means that we need to redo all the maps and unfortunetly, we don't have ressources to do that.
4. RvS was advertised as having a bullet penetration system. There is currently no such system in place. Is the DEV team working on adding it, or is it a 'gameplay issue' that will never be addressed?
You can shoot through doors, that's the only items that you can shoot through. But for modders, there's a way to set bullets penetration on textures ;-)
5. It is felt by many (more than 1 or 2) that the amount of damage reduction caused by a supressor is too severe. Is this a 'gameplay issue' that will never be changed?
Silenced 5.56mm and 5.7mm Weapons
Whenever you put a sound suppressor on a weapon two things happen. First the weapon is lengthened and its weight is increased. This causes the weapon's reticule to recover more slowly. Second, the standard ammunition is changed to special, sub-sonic, ammunition that doesn't break the sound barrier when fired. What this means is that the ammunition must depend more on the weight of the bullet to inflict damage, rather than speed.
Weapons that fire 5.56mm and 5.7mm ammunition depend primarily on speed to inflict damage. With bullet weights of only 3.4g and 2.02g respectively they don't pack much of a punch when forced sub-sonic. A better choice would be 9mm or 7.62mm weapons, which have heavier rounds. This does not mean that 5.56mm and 5.7mm weapons are useless when silenced. It just means that you'll have to try to hit multiple times in the body or make difficult head shots to be effective. This is especially true in multiplayer adversarial games where your opponents are wearing medium body armor!
6. Sniper rifle damage is not felt to be realistic (IE tangoes surviving shots that would tear through a tank). Is this a gameplay issue that will never be changed?
This is mostly gameplay issue but personnaly, i never have a problem to kill a tango with a sniper rifle. May be you used a silencer Sniper wish is worst than a normal rifle.
But for sure, our sniper can kill someone in the head anywhere in the map using a normal sniper rifle.

Thanks for the information Berlu. It certainly isn't what I was hoping for, but at least I know what is coming now.
And I sort of have to agree in spirit with the last post. My system is no shrinking violet. I've got a 2.4Ghz with 512 DDRRAM a G4TI4600 & a SB Audigy Platinum. For me to be getting FPS issues is just silly. Here's another quick simple question (though maybe you can't answer it)...
Was RvS rushed out the door in an unfinished late-beta build or something? Just seems like there are all kinds of 'optimization' problems that should have been ironed out in beta testing before gold.
But maybe this is all we can hope for everyone. /i/smilies/16x16_robot-sad.gif Unreal2 is having FPS issues & optimization problems as well. It certainly has its fair share of bugs & glitches too. RvS uses an Unreal engine build. Maybe all these problems are just symptoms of a bigger issue. Maybe the Unreal2 engine & it's myraid builds just blow.

I'd say it is how the program communicates with the soundcard that is the problem. Otherwise no game should be able to have 3d sound enabled? Enabling/disabling 3d sound has a miniscule effect on most games...
I do not see why you on a regular basis rule out the possibility that it might be something fishy in the code? I mean, many many of the posters here are very experienced players and have tweaked games for performance for years and years... But this game is a hard nut to crack cause the problems probably aren't skindeep.
And to continue with the fps troubles, adressed to the devs....
Berlu stated that 'there are lots of tweaks out there' to improve your fps. Well, thats true to some extent, but the problem is that they are not the solution. It is like applying a bandaid to a broken leg: It might feel comforting for some but it will not cure the limp.
That reply berlu made about the fps problems is exactly what i've feared the most: The devs does not acknowledge the problems. What can I say... I am dissapointed. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
Advice to devs: Your computers at the dev office seems to run RvS perfectly. Instead: Go to a store and buy a decent computer. Install all the latest drivers and RvS. Most likely the game will run like a sack of beans (the majority I know of are experiencing performance problems). Investigate why. Simple heh? Your can you sincerely state that none of the devs have ever played RvS with performance problems?
With a patch addressing the most severe fps problems the massive onlaught of FPS messages will fade out. Both UBI and RSE will gain a tremendous public relation improvement.
Please please investigate this issue. I am beggin you. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

well said what do they expect when they don;t try every single video card, sound card out. As for optimised for ATI I think thats like false advertising. ATI cards are the only video cards cuasing problems and it blows my mind why the 2nd most top video card out there the ATI 9700 PRO that kills every ge phorce card out there is suffering from horible frame rates the same as my 7500. i hope once I get my AIW 9700 PRO that ill have no problems!

But i wouldn't give much for his answers. And whats that about not fixing the FPS problem.
Ubi plz this just has to be a bad dream or something. Never before have i seen a forum with so many people having so many problems with a single game.
I myself don't have FPS problems i just can't play online due to some connection failur.
And then Ubi saying they won't even try to fix this, no no no.
DayGlow thx for trying to help but plz, its like you Ubi people just looks past all the post that has error/failuer written in the topics.
Oh and one more thing he he, no way ill ever buy a Radeon card after reading all these posts about how bad they work. And i do feel sorry for the people who have paid heaps of money for big computers and then still getting worse FPS then i do on my old comp. And if this isn't reason enough for Ubi to see that something is wrong well then i don't know what will.

FALSE! Dude...They work great! The 3.2 drivers rock and the only game I have problems with is this game. To be honest, your getting alot more raw power with ATI.
Especially there new line of cards, is nVidia even going to .13 micron? Are they ever gunna do 256-bit memory? There new cards are crapping out compared to the new ATI cards. Hell the 9700 STILL beats nVidia's newest cards.
Look at the benchmarks, the 9700 killz all the nVidia cards. They just run on the expansive side. At the end of th year...dude, when the R400 chip comes out on ATI cards nVidia will no longer exist if they dont step up!
If any of my facts are wrong, please re-inform me.

Agree. I feel really worried if you guys (Berlu and the rest of the team) have not taken this frame rate issue seriously. A machine like mine (XP1900+, 512Mb, 9700Pro) should not get frame rate low as 15-20 in a firefight, that is not normal.
It's not a truform thing. I never use that. And it's not the sound card (I have a SB Live). I do get a couple of frames more with no sound but that's normal. . It doesn't matter what resolution I'm using. Its not a driver thing either, I use Cat3.2 and every single game I play runs great excepts for RvS.

To clarify, I don't work for Ubi, I'm just a community member like you.
The thing is is that I have an just above average system, ie AMD 1775 w/1024mb ram and GF4 card and the game runs fine. By fine I mean 30-50fps with the occasional dip down to 20 during very heavy cpu intesive action. Also 3d sound does use cpu cycles. Newer cards use less cpu. The audigy is great that it doesn't hit the cpu all that much, but the SB live does if you use things like eax. If I turned off eax I can get a 20fps jump, but I like the extra sound quality and gameplay doesn't suffer.
Everything I post is just my own opinion. I don't have much experience with ati cards as I run with Nvidia at the moment, but I do see the problems. Not just in this game/board, but all over the place. I think Ati has some issues with the d3d portion of their drivers. All the opengl games seem to run fine, but d3d has suffered. Supposably the 3.3s are going to fix this and hopefully RvS will run a lot better on people systems.

Dell released the 3.3's for there line of systems today, and the word is they work ok with any other brand radeon. Ill check em out and see what i find, ill also do a little benchmark on my server system running a GF4 TI4200 and see what type of performance I'm getting outha that, compared to my Radeon 9700 pro.
Stay tuned.

I get around the same boost with U2 when eax is off. SC gets a jump as well. Also with the orginal Unreal engine games, same for Q3 engine games. In flight sims when you dial down sound acceration fps will go up.
U2 had huge sound issues when it was released. The game crashed every couple minutes if you used eax with it.
On the SB Live creative uses the cpu to help with eax. Not sure with the audigy. This is why I don't blame RS for this. It seems that across the board Creative cards eat cpu cycles when you enable eax.

Same level, 10 players in game.
FPS never go over 50, in fire fights it drops 30/10 so drastic its unplayable
For a system that has 2x the power its unacceptable to get a performance like this, I'm not pointing fingers till i installed the 3.3's, its still a case that bends my eye brow upward.

The worst case scenario in RvS with 20 fps becoming 40 fps with eax disabled still sounds very strange in my ears... If it would i would be a happy camper by now /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif My best RvS games are played without any sound at all....
The bottomline is that i feel that the soundissues causes an unproportionally big performance impact on your RvS system. I should look into that and maybe suggest the devs that they should do something about it /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Well, setup my own little hell test. Terrorist Hunt, Shipyard, 35T's, and 8 rainbow. With eax the start is 18-20fps, around 30 outside/40 indoors dropping to 15 in firefights
With eax off it starts around 28-30fps/around 50 indoors, dropping down to 15 during heavy fights. So eax does make a hit, not the 20 like I stated, but more like 10. The thing I did notice that fps shoots way up the more Ts you drop, so the ai does seem to take a lot of cycles.
The audigy has been reported to work better than the live, having the lowest cpu utalization of any card I've seen tested. Not sure how the NF2 mb compares.
edit: just played a little U2. with eax I was getting around 45fps, turning it of ups it to 60fps. Seems to be more of a hit there, and when actual ai is on screen (the skarji or whatever) fps plumit. I think the ai in RvS really takes up cycles, but then again the guys to move pretty well. Compared to GR you don't have to babysit your guys to keep them from getting killed.

It's a personal thing. I don't mind the fps hit, some do. Try it yourself and decide which you like better. Richer soundscape or higher fps.
Don't have an audigy, but the reviews seem to state that the cpu hit is lower than the Live

ok, Im new to this forum, I my self and having trouble just getting into the multiplayer, but I do have a few questions for Dev team after reading this post.
from what I have read, its basically pointless to buy a nice sound card, I my self have sb audigy and I love it, the reason I bought it was to play games with realistic sound, you have eax option in your menu, which would lead a person like me to believe that this game(which is supposed to be the most realistic combat game on the planet and I agree from single player), but whats the point if it slows it down and thus makes it unrealistic? number 2: was this game designed to be mediocre on monster pcs? I have amd xp2200, geforce 4400ti, 512 2700 DDR, and there isnt a game out there that causes fps drops from over using my pc, the only lag I ever get is server lag or bad pings. but I am shocked to see that your average gamer is supposed to suffer from a real gaming experience on a major issue, people wanted realistic sound, so they PURCHASED EAX cards, if I knew that most games that support it cant HANDLE it I wouldnt have wasted the money. Granted I have plenty of games that I set full out to the max and play eax and I run fresh all day long, I havent done any benchmarks, I wouldnt know how, but I would easily say my fps stays above 50 on any game, especially on like BF1942 with graphics/sound cranked and playing in a 64 person game. or even using max diff AI with max number of bots(which in this game causes major usage thanks to having to think for so many bots), I dont see how it could be written off as a problem not invovling your game, granted the sound/game engine wasnt yours, but appearently the dev team thought they would work fine. thats what I dont understand.
next on the list, bullet penetration for doors only?? have you guys ever seen what a 240G(current USMC version of the M60, just better cooling and cycle rate) does to medium armor vehicles? and especially the .50 cal sniper rifle, being a marine I have fired the 240G upon armored vehicles in training, and have seen what a .50 cal sniper rifle does to a human body, no matter where it lands(not just the head is lethal, trust me). No armor that these "soldiers"(lack of a better word) can handle the .50 sniper rifle, im sorry, Tom clancy knows that(I sure do hope so, considering Im just an E-3 and know it) a .50 sniper rifle would easily knock throught the adobe or concrete walls or even the thin sheet metal in some of the wearhouses no problem and still be just as lethal as if it hadnt hit them. thats why that rifle was made. silenced or not its the hardest hitting sniper rifle in use by any government that is disclosed. My point being, this game is very realistic, but some points are just left out. If you didnt want the .50 to be realistic, why put it in the game? This is the most realistic combat game out is it not?

Hi UBI people.
RVS is a good game thats going to really kick@ss when you take into account the complaints of people on the forums.
For me the reticule needs some serious balancing. I know this can be done through mods but if done in an official patch it means everyone is playing/learning to play the same game in the same style (hopefully as realistic as possible).
A good post is above me about the difference between minor ret movement and major (all over the shop) movement.People who run and gun (CS style) should if they choose to play this way have to deal with major ret penalties and die a lot more for playing like a 12 yr old.
The recoil (up moving)of machine guns is a bit silly and I feel this would be better simulated by drastic ret spread(ret spread is to simulate this sort of thing isnt it?) when standing, less when kneeling and much less when prone.
Please consult, respect and listen to the Rogue Spear Vets and RVS hardcores on ret dynamics and game enhancements.
RVS potential is massive. Keep RVS realstic.

gr8whtsamuri,
From what I understand there isn't anything a dev can do to lessen the impact of eax on fps. The soundcard itself needs more processing from the cpu to do the effects and that's where the drop comes from. The audigy is a good card and should really effect your fps. Look at my examples, with U2 it drops from 60 to 45fps, still very playable, and that's with a Live, the Audigy shouldn't cause a drop like that.
As for bullet penitration, it's a gameplay thing, and a very well discussed one. One side (including myself) want to see realistic bullet penitration in all objects in the game. The other side see it as a gameplay issue. Look at gernade spamming right now. Same would happen with bullet penitration. Guys would be just laying out fire with their SAWs shooting walls, etc. Very realistic, but not that fun.

I was amazed the other day. I went into a server alone and my FPS was 80+. I have a 9700 Pro. A friend joined the server and whenever he came close to me it dropped to 10-30, sometimes dipping below 20. There is definitely something wrong there. I am sad to hear that thats not one of UBI's priority.

Time we got a Final word from the Devs,
----===Do the developers working on Raven Shield admit that high end systems do not perform as fast as they should when
it comes to calculating Raven Shield code.
Did the Raven Shield developers found the Reason and or Fix for this issue ?
And if so, will a fix be get released in the near future ?----===
Let me make clear that i'm not aiming at the next gen sound system Raven Shield packs, performance is still far to low when this gets turned off.
My patience and frustration levels are closing in to there limit.
If we do not get a Un political but strait forward Answer within the next 10 hours i will personally go public with this story and write.

Sorry Glow - but I've got one of the best sound cards that money can buy. Audigy Platinum - pure goodness. I experimented last night.
Turning off sound completely: NO effect on FPS
Turning sound on with no EAX: NO effect on FPS
Sound on WITH EAX: NO effect on FPS
See the pattern? /i/smilies/16x16_robot-happy.gif I'm not saying that for some people EAX is not a contributing factor - but is sure isn't the MAIN reason for this FPS problem or even a major one on high-end systems.
The 'problem' seems to be mostly related (in my ignorant opinion) to how many 'friendlies' are in the game. If I'm all by myself in a lone-wolf custom map with 30 tangos I can get as high as 100 FPS with moderate action going on. It goes as low as 60 to 70 on high action stuff. This is on 1024X768 res with high details.
Do a mission with 3 AI teammates and the FPS drops down to an average of 60 FPS (30 in high action). Same goes for my online co-op games with 2 LAN buddy teammates. I max out at 60 FPS and nothing I do gets it any higher and I KNOW my rig can do better.
In my ignorant layman's opinion, I'd say the RvS engine is somehow loading off the 'work' of running the game onto your CPU and not your graphic card or sound card (when you have good ones). That's just a guess, but if it's true then it's a sign of sloppy programming.

well, I am using a Live! and they do hit the cpu for eax. Probably going to buy an Audigy some time in the future.
I can't remember, do you have a Radeon? The ai teamates bringing down fps really sounds like the hi-detail models are the culperate. When they optomized for ati, maybe they mucked up the trueform or whatever. Even if you turn it off, it could be using it.
Also don't forget good ai does take cpu cycles and no matter what graphics card you have it won't help. The friendly ai in RvS is very good. Compare it to GR and your guys are very aware of their surroundings and move very well. Especially around buildings. Man that was the most frustrating thing in GR was the fact the ai could not move through a building. Maybe the ai code could be tightened up, but who knows.

Not to run this into the ground, but I'm going to post some things that I have found while playing RS specifically looking to improve performance.
If you want to call it "playing the FPS instead of playing the game" then so be it because I for one do not think that in its current state, Raven Shield, is a very playable game for many and want to help not only other players, but the Devs see where these "hits" and "problems" gamers are experiencing with higher-end systems may be coming from.
1) The Low FPS and Inconsistent FPS
Higher FPS is the corner stone of action games and First Person Shooters -- which RS is both -- For the simple fact it makes aiming easier which is the heart of the game in terms of the gameplay.
It is as simple as that.
And like others, I know this is a supposedly a "next-generation" engine they are using and don't expect Half-Life specs (triple digits)...
But I expect it to at least have consistent FPS above 30.
To me, that is "playable".
Obviously, 60 to 90 is even better. Not for "bragging rights" as some would say, but for game stability and overall smoothness (in-game performance).
Raven Shield DOESN'T DELIVER SMOOTH PERFORMANCE which is the biggest gripe among many gamers.
2) What May Be Causing Low FPS and Inconsisten Peformance
I have identified a couple of things that are making this game unplaybe for a lot of people and am trying to offer tweaks and suggestions thus far... But there is only so much I/we can do on our end and ultimately, it is up to UBI and the Devs to help us out as well. Especially, since this is NOT a free Mod or game like CS or America's Army.
A) Dare Audio - A proprietary sound system that is a huge resource hog used in RS and also Splinter Cell.
Sticking with normal EAX/OpenAL sound system would have been the way to to because ultimately, it sounds just the same if you want to get right down to it. Did UBI buy the licence to this Dare Audio system and now feels compelled to use it to get their money's worth?
B) AI Threads for Rainbows/Tangos are also a huge system drain and should have been streamlined to not take up so much of the CPU.
This is possible since other games do it (I.E. Operation Flashpoint; 10-15 AI teamates and about 30 enemey soldiers).
You can tell this is part of the problem if you start taking down Tangos and watch your FPS count slowly but surely go up. Same goes for when you loose a Rainbow member as well. That is a clear indicator the AI coding was not efficiently written.
C) Some of the actual maps themselves aren't fully optimized.
I can stare at a wall (with just me in an empty server) and get 70-90 FPS in one room, then go five feet to a corner where a hall and doors intersect and it drops down to 30-40 with nothing going on.
While there are more vertices in a hallway junction... That shouldn't be THAT bad I would think. Even UT2003 maps don't bog down your GPU that bad and some of them are infinitely more complex with the texture and lighting effects versus the ones RS uses since RS takes place in the real-world versus a fantasy sci-fi game where the locales have to be visually complex.
These three things are just off the top of my head, but they all point to the code/mapping/rendering not being fully finished -- to be blunt -- Before they okayed the game for retail release.

Speculation: A business decision probably based on the problems unreal soundengine had with its sound. Better substitute the whole package at an early stage than try to fix something that probably isnt legal to modify. Sticking to original system maybe would have been a wise decision. But i presume that these patches would cost ubi alot of $$$$. The license were probably bought 'as is' with no further support or upgrades. Infogrames are interested to make money as well... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
But that is pure speculation. The contracts when buying licenses are probably closely guarded secrets and I have no idea what they may consists of. Even if they have license for enginge upgrades they have modified ALOT of code so migrating to new enginebuild will probably be very difficult... Thats my guess.
It is a R6 title so just because of that I will hang in and see if they can straighten this out... Otherwise i will move on to another game: A customer is always easy to migrate... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
btw dayglow: I noticed no significant difference when dis/enabling eax. Do you have different irq's for video/audio. This is strange as I agree that EAX should cause a cpu hit... The parameters must be calculated and passed to the hw, i am aware of that... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Hey Digital Smoke, you can lose you patience if you want but that isn't going to make the patch come any faster. The story is public, what are you talking about? The community out there are aware that the game has bugs. But the constant complaining doesn't help. Hell, Half-Life was released in 1998 and was patched last year, that is a long time to wait for a full patch....

I don't think you can compare the release of a Half-Life patch 4.5 years after the game's release to this situation. Half-Life (when released) had it's share of bugs which were quickly squashed. Since then, the patches have been either minor ones to fix very specific issues that arose since the game's release or they were HUGE patches that added free MODS & other features to the game. Notice the FREE there. /i/smilies/16x16_robot-happy.gif Strange - Valve didn't tell their customers that they had to fix the problems themselves...

Yah, i to have a servering computer at home and i can host 16 ppl no lag what so ever, this computer is a;
p4 2.0 ghz.
Gefore 4 Ti 4600 (128 mb i think, highest one whatever it is).
640 MB of DDR Ram.
Monitor refresh low (no monitior, use remote admin).
640*480 (or whatever it is) resolution.
all sound options off (no speakers).
2 40gb scsi 10000rpm HD.
1 20gb 7000rpm HD.
In-game settings low.
With this i get around a constant 120 fps on this computer which is really good and drops to about 90 in HEAVY firefights.
On my playing computer i have;
p4 3.0ghz.
Radeon 9700 Pro (Whatever hightest mb amount for this card is).
2 gigs of DDR Ram.
Monitor Refresh @80.
1024*768 Resolution.
All sound options including 3d and EAX.
1 120gb 7000rpm HD.
1 20gb Firewire HD.
With this rig i get around 90 fps contstant with no dropage whatso ever with all settings on high aswell.
What im getting to is i like find the geforce are better for the serving type of computers and people who want screaming fps but dont knid a little droppage here and there. However i like Radeon cards for playing because they give me a constant framerate that i get use to and can play well in. Anything above 60 is pretty damn near impossible to see any difference but it all depeneds on how greedy youare.
ALso if your server comp is better thatn your playing comp why dont you try and switch them around and see if you like that combination better?

Deadeye m8, I said the game is playable, as in, i can control it.
But that doesn't mean i want to play on it like its running on there.
What I'm upset about is that a overall Far weaker system runs the game better in every way.
All my games run perfect on my main gaming rig, not all of em run above 60FPS 100% of the time but its close.
I don't mind game performance taking a dip at times, but being used to a over 50 frame rate makes it hard, it just doesn't feel right, specially if there's nothing on screen to justify the performance drop.
The level of detail in bullet penetration and such are also no reason for having the frames to drop so drastic.
There's something fishy going on with this title, and having paid MY! cash for it will i get MY! questions Answered.
Murphy, This forum is not so public as it seems, you can't compare this to the 100.000s of ppl reading gaming mag's.

And your tireless dribble is nothing new to the dev team. Do you think that they will all of a sudden release the patch cos Digital Smoke said they had to? Hell no. So obviously your remarks won't help either.
Perhaps you forget that there are forums just like this all over the world. As such, the magazines I read have their own fourms and in topics like this are raised. In fact there are probably more online reviews of the game than magazine articles.
I bought Half-Life in 2000. It was still being given major patches then. Yes, a free mod was included in a patch, but it took how long to makes its way into the patch? Raven Shield has been out less than a month in Australia and as such, seeing a major patch in this time is highly irregular.
Don't forget, you paid your cash for a piece of software. They don't have to support it, they should support it, but they don't have to. Go read the license agreement about what they have to do.

So when Nafarias write that Valve didn't tell their customers that they had to fix the problems themselves...
If this is true what the Dev said well then UBI do tell us to fix our own game... hmm maybe if we could get that source code or something.
And have anyone in here ever seen a sign of the fact that UBI even want to (hard word coming up) Acknowlge that RvS has bugs and errors.

I've never said the main culprit is the soundcard, but it is something to consider. A 5-10fps jump I get when I turn of the environmental effects is a decent jump, and one that I get across the board in many different games.
Alot of the high end systems that are having problems are mostly people with ati cards and I'm starting to believe that the 'ati optimazations' weren't all that great. By the sounds of people testing trueform seems to be locked on (IMOUHP u for uniformed)
There seems to be another select group of people that are getting 50-70fps and that's not enough for them. I don't think the quake3 engine performed all that high when it was released and look at it now 300+ being the norm. 6 months from now hardware will blow this engine away and that's a good thing. I want developers to push the envelope.
Understand I'm not saying RvS is perfect or can stand some tweaking, but I do believe it's more than playable. There does seem to be an Ati card issue, but I reserve my judgment until the patch is released.

DayGlow.
I must give it to you, clap! clap! clap!... Finally!
I still must say, i did some more digging.
FPS get no hit when i drop a smoke nade, so if my R9700Pro was the reason for my weak performance why doesn't it reflect when complicated or heavy GFX get drawn on screen.
It does swoop down when i get killed and the blur effect kicks in, does not happen on the TI4200
Its weird, some points tell me the game is very CPU demanding, but then i look at the geometry and compare how a 1gig calculates it to smooth performance, and my XP2000 (which is basically 100% faster) has a hard time computing, compared that! with other UT2k3 engine based games, makes me dust that thought off my mind right away.
Some points tell me the game is very GPU demanding, i look at the textures, all round effects, compare my R9700 specs to the one's of the TI4200 (which runs the game smoother) and i say hell no....
Something fishy is going on...... make that whaley

Perhaps creating an argument with a serious premise might be too much for you to grasp so you have to question my age and maturity level rather than sticking to the facts at hand.

Perhaps you might want to think about the fallacies you have made in your posts - how you demand action otherwise you will go public. Sounds like you have a real mature thought process. You then compare my posts to the IQ of a banana - frankly that shows how ignorant and opinionated you really are.
