View Full Version : RS songs even a guitarist would consider more fun on a bass...

Hey, I don't own a bass, but I play one on RS :)

I noticed some of the songs I didn't care much for on guitar are actually pretty fun on bass.

Here are two that stuck out to me that I enjoy playing in RS better on bass than guitar:
- Well Ok Honey
- Spider and the Fly

Neither of these is difficult in any way, I just have more fun playing them than I do the guitar parts in RS.

Honorable mention to Smoke on the Water... Not sure I'm ready to admit that one is funner on bass (such a classic guitar riff), but it's close (especially since the version we have is the newer solo and not the original).

Any you've found? Clearly people who are at heart bassists will have a ton they like better on bass, I'm talking to the guitarists out there :)

+1 on Well OK Honey

also The Spider and The Fly has a nice bass line.

I haven't tried Play WIth Fire ... yet.

The Thrill is Gone surprised me, it has cool bass line.

Oh crap, I meant Spider and Fly. There isn't even bass on Play with Fire. Will update the initial post :)

Well then, we are in complete agreement. :D

I was playin' The Spider And the Fly again, as an encore last night. Very cool bass line. In fact, I just posted it on TDPRI earlier this afternoon (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/bass-place/347693-bass-lines-i-like.html#post4411540), as one of my favorites, along with Well OK Honey.

Ah cool coincidence you just posted that too. Nice :)

I like this post. I play significantly more guitar then bass, especially in the last 4 years, though I'll always be a bass player at heart because it's the instrument I studied in school. My choice bass songs are What's Going On (an obvious choice, easily my favorite bass line to play in the game) and Slow Hands (took me by surprise, but the bass line is really busy and really fun, especially the chorus with its disco-style octaves)

Also, FYI, Space Oddity is currently the only bass arrangement with a section labeled as 'solo' that's talking about a bass solo. It's at the very end of the song, as the guitar is fading out.

I still have not attempted Space Oddity on bass on RS yet (did play it on RB Pro Bass). A bit afraid to :)

So far I prefer playing Pumped Up Kicks and My Girl on Bass :D

The bass expansion pack has rekindled my passion for Hangar 18. I love the song but got burned out on the guitar version with all the solos that are way above my ability. Hadn't played it since earlier this year but now I am rocking it again.

I think I prefer the bass on Killer Queen as well. There are more notes to play for one and it's such a nice sounding groove once you get it leveled up.

I can agree with the Slow Hands. I really DESPISE Interpol's sound. All their songs sound the same, horrible. But the bass line is fun in at least that song.

I had to look up the song on youtube to make sure that was the song I was thinking of. It's filmed in reverse or something and the singer's expression is just about perfect example of how I feel listening to their music.
