I don't know about you guys, but I thought the movie Sum of All Fears had serious failings in the amount of realism and detail it put into the aerial combat scenes. First we had a rogue squadron of Russian MiG-29's fly in undetected and disable an American aircraft carrier, then a flight of F-16's (based out of the North Pole?) fly into northern Siberia to destroy the base of those MiG-29's unopposed. That movie missed out on some serious opportunities for awesome air combat. Then of course we had the B-2's that took only a half hour to reach Polish airspace (not 30 minutes of movie time, they said 30 minutes in the movie so it was storyline time). I don't make movies myself, but I just thought I'd throw this out there for anyone in need of inspiration: Fill in the blanks from Sum of All Fears.

1-president control Russian Federation, in the movie president afraid of generals. this is hollywood nonsense
2-russians never used chimical weapon - they used in chechnya in the nmovie - nonsence
3-no americans allowed in secret places of russia - in the movie ameicans are reading the names of russian scintists and force them to answer where are they - lol, i want to the the person who wrote this scenario
4-combats are so stupid ! yes, f16 destroyed military base near Vladivistok ( not even Siberia ) and russians didn't even knew what happaned http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)))
5-i think it was Su27 not Mig29, but who cares, any way - nonsence http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
6-two presidents are speaking in public chat - guess why !? right - keep the secrets http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
7-famouse hollywood mistake - sunshining in NY -snowing in Moscow http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif))) this two cities are almost on one meredian
P.S. most funny air combat i've ever seen is in AirForce One movie with harrison ford. there were 4 or 5 Mig29's against 4-5 F15's. harrison was driving boing 747. so, not a single rocket could hit boing, i'm not even saying anything about f15's http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)))

Don't forget the Eagle driver that flew into the path of that missile that was targeting AF1.

Hey... Something's wrong~
In the movie~
The aircraft~ which attacked USN Carrier
was Tu22. Not Su27 or Mig29
The movie is a total revision of the book, unfortunatly. The book is the best i have ever read but the movie just s***s. A lot of thing where changed because of political reasons (read 911).
In the book its terrorist who make the bomb, in the movie its nazi guys.
The end isnt even nere the book, but wont tell the differnce if someone wants to read it, something i rely recommend, but it isnt hard to see in which country the movie was produced.
The movie doenst go into the details to do your own nuclear bomb and where you can get the instructions to do a hiroshima bomb.
The awful truth is that it wont take more than 5 years to design it IF you can get the right stuff...
If i remeber correctly is was an mig-29 that attacked the carrier. After that the american military was in caos. DEFCOM 2 (the second highest, might be wrong about the name) allows much 'freedom' for the commanders and everyone took their own decission about what they tought was the best, think the movie missed that part.
Go get the book instead of viewing the movie, the original is always better http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Agreed. The movie sucked. The film raped the story that was originally written. If you want to enjoy it fully, read the book and try to forget about the movie.

That film bugged me too. Just how does a single squadron of Backfires get past E3 AEW patrols plus standing CAP? How do one squadron's worth of AS-6 Kingfish missiles get past all that ECM and the carrier's escort of Aegis cruisers, plus whatever other point defense guns are protecting the carrier?
As soon as Baltimore got nuked every US/NATO fleet and base would be on maximum alert. For a carrier I would guess that means more CAP with Phoenix-armed Tomcats flying as far from the carrier as the AS-6 Kingfish missle's maximum range (250 plus miles).
Incidentally, my uncle used to be a Flight Engineer for the British Airways Concorde Fleet, before it got scrapped. He once told me that the RAF and USAF used to lease Concorde to try detecting and intercepting it as if it were a Backfire or Blinder bomber. I saw the USAF doing this on Iceland a few years ago. They never caught it in time!
Anyway, I'm new to LOMAC and this forum. Thanks for your time.

In the book I believe the bomb goes off in denver, not baltimore.
