Bonus Songs re-locked??

Doesn't really matter to me, I unlocked all bonus songs about 2 months into Rocksmith, and I only play guitar for like year and a half. Having to unlock them again will give me reason for nailing encore songs again!

Unlocking bonus songs isn't too hard. Just keep making a custom event list with songs you totally own on.

You start the bass game back at amatuer level so unlocking shouldn't be too hard. I double encored my first bass gig and unlocked a song and I've never unlocked anything on the guitar side.

well, my first event had qualifying scores of 4500 and 1900. My second event had qualifying scores of 64,000 and 77,000. they really shot up super fast. at that rate, not sure I'll be able to unlock them all again.

I customized my second event to be the three Motown songs from the recent DLC and one of those songs had a qualifying score over 80,000 but the other two were still fairly low. The higher one was the only song I had already played on guitar but I don't know if that was a factor or just a coincidence. I did notice that doing the double encore on the bass side gave me the achievement that initially was on the guitar side so there is some overlap but I assume leveling is independent for each side.

ok. I've checked and all six unlockable songs are still in my guitar song list but only Boss in in my Bass song list. not sure if it was there before I played the first event and got a double encore or not.

I unlocked two of the bonus songs tonight.....Ricochet and Boss. But......I've already started getting MM encores so that is probably it. Get this.....I have only played the songs twice once for qualifying and once to perform them. Then event three MM Encore for the Pixie song that I have played bass to twice now. Guessing you know how well that went. Then the next event same thing with I can't get no satisfaction. Maybe there should be a played number of times minimum for MM encores.

ok. I've checked and all six unlockable songs are still in my guitar song list but only Boss in in my Bass song list. not sure if it was there before I played the first event and got a double encore or not.

Everyone should get the chance to learn every song available without having to bang their head trying to figure out a double encore algorithm.

It sucked that not everyone could compete in the Jules competition and some of those people have had the game since day 1... Still can't play some of the songs that are included in the disc... That is really lame.

I thought the bug was that it made you re-unlock them (meaning you could unlock them if you got doubles).. Yeah, I have boss only, just got my first double encore on bass, and nothing unlocked. I specifically tried my best not to master any songs in case I did have to get double encores to unlock the bonus songs ahead of a fix for the bug.

But it's true that getting a double does nothing to unlock any new songs... So you just don't see the bonus songs in your list outside of boss.

I did the same thing as you Seattle, tried to avoid mastering any songs, got double encores in my first three events and no bonus songs were unlocked. Hmmm.....

Oh well, hopefully this can be figured out. Bass sure is fun anyway!

Mine are also locked except Boss. I played one event yesterday with double encore (the first event) I checked the set list and can confirm that Boss is the only bonus song unlocked. I unlocked all of them on guitar months ago.

I never unlocked all the songs in guitar I had one or two to go. But I unlocked 2 songs in bass in my first two events.

I thought unlocking bonus songs was always random. When you got the double encore you might unlock a song ... you might not... or did I missunderstand?

But if I understand what I am reading here correctly, there is a verifiable bug where some folks are getting their previously unlocked songs in guitar locked again???

they are not locked in guitar again but they should be unlocked in bass if they are unlocked in guitar. the bug is that they are not unlocked in bass and can't be unlocked if they were already unlocked in guitar. man, I hope that makes sense!

Thanks I get it! :) I thought I already unlocked Sim AM but that must of been with my sons profile because I don't have any recorded plays with in on my main profile. I'll have to check the ones I have recorded plays with my main profile. The bug aside, I'm glad Ubi is giving us the opportunity to unlock these songs in bass. The whole notion there is content that I paid for and I can't access tears me up. I'll be glad if I can finally unlock these songs. I just need to be careful now and make sure I don't accidentily unlock any masters while I'm playing bass. Master mode encores suck.

hmm.. I wonder if since SBB doesn't have a bass arrangement is can only be unlocked while playing guitar... MM encores keeping me down too, I'll be bummed if I can never get that one unlocked in my main profile.

It melted my 360! No, I tried it on Jules and it shows a lock icon over the bass arrangement.

Didn't get a chance to play tonight but I can confirm that it's impossible to re-unlock songs on bass that were lost due to the update. I have Jules on guitar but not bass. It was my only bonus song until the 14th. On Tuesday I got Six AM on guitar and since then all the others on bass so when I hit another double encore on bass today I should have got Jules again but no go. I can also confirm its impossible to unlock SSB with bass. Don't know if this is intentional due to the lack of bass arrangement for that song.

This probaably doesn't help, but I had Jules selected in guitar mode (previously unlocked and played before bass expansion) I switched to bass and the song menu jumps all the way back to the first song. I forwarded the menu to where Jules should be and it doesn't even show when I am in bass mode. This is 360 FWIW.

just posting what i experienced on my bass journey regarding these re-locked hidden songs: i already played five double encores, the first one on my very first event after getting the bass dlc and playing it the first time. it unlocked boss for me. the next four double encores i got didn't unlock any of the four remaining hidden songs with bass arrangements for them.

so i tried what RS-Matt suggested following Pancho's lead...

I have played about 4 events and gotten double encores in each one. Did really well on them but it never said I unlocked a song, just an effect for the encore. Boss is in my song list but that;s the only one. I have all the rest unlocked for guitar. Def a bug.

try switching to bass mode after selecting jules in the guitar song list, before picking an arrangement. Otherwise it just dumps you from the mid of the guitar song list to the front of the bass song list.

if you had it unlocked before, it shows up from the get go. they are all supposed to. they don't and that's the problem. All except SSB. And you can't re unlock them in bass if you had them unlocked in guitar before. Hope they get it fixed. i was looking forward to playing some of those bass lines.

I checked on this last night too and found that Boss was the only song unlocked. I have them all unlocked under guitar. I have only done 1 event so far in the Bass journey and I got a double there, though I don't think it said that I unlocked a song afterwards. If I go to the other songs in the guitar journey and switch to bass it shows the locked icon. (I didn't try them all, just a couple, but I assume I'd get the same thing on the others.)

i decided to start a completely new game save today because i wanted to unlock the bass head achievement and have been unsuccessful in three attempts so far. while the story for unlocking that achievement is a completely different one, it had something to do with unlocking a bonus song.

so i went and played the game from scratch. this meant i had to set up my guitar on the guitar part first (soundcheck, tuning, volume, your first riff) and after doing that, i immediately switched to bass (emulated). i rehearsed the first two songs, performed them and got over 70k on both of them, prompting an encore. got over 100k on that one prompting a double encore. got 98k with that and then i unlocked the bass head achievement (you have to download the tone saver dlc, btw, for those interested in unlocking it - hey! i'm no flea and i don't expect to 70k higher ground anytime soon!). as for the unlocked bonus song...

I am having the same issue others are having. I have all songs unlocked for guitar. Boss is only bonus song available in Bass mode. No songs unlocked when I got a double encore on my first event. I am playing the Best Buy version of the game on the PS3. I have everything except a few authentic tones unlocked on the guitar. I was experiencing lockups playing events till the patch came out.

continuing with my experiment into this problem, i decided to continue with my journey on both bass and guitar and see if these hidden songs continue to be unlocked for both guitar and bass everytime i perform double encores.
since this was a new save file, i started again as an amateur on guitar. performed the event, played a double encore and i unlocked...
Disonaur - Space Ostrich - guitar arrangement unlocked. bass arrangement unlocked.

cool. two hidden songs unlocked so far. i then switched back to my bass journey. performed the next event, played another double encore and this time, i unlocked...
Six AM Salvation - Versus Them. bass arrangement unlocked. guitar arrangement unlocked.

a total of three unlocked hidden songs.

i, therefore, have to correct a certain part of my previous post above...

...since in this case two more were unlocked. i could go on playing double encores to further prove what i have discovered, but i guess it's safe to conclude that with new save files, any hidden song unlocked either through the guitar or bass journeys will result in being unlocked in that song's respective counterpart instrument arrangement, with the exception of star-spangled banner. of course, it would be interesting to see if i continue unlocking hidden songs using the bass journey and see if a bass double encore will still unlock a bass-less song such as star-spangled banner for guitar.

4th bass journey double encore - Boss by Chris Lee - bass arrangement unlocked. guitar arrangement unlocked. (song was unlocked even without the game showing that unlock cutscene).
5th bass journey double encore - Jules by Seth Chapla - bass arrangement unlocked. guitar arrangement unlocked.
6th bass journey double encore - no hidden song unlocked. (presumably because Star-Spangled Banner doesn't have a bass arrangement.).

2nd guitar journey double encore - Star Spangled Banner by Seth Chapla - guitar arrangement unlocked. when switched to bass, it says no bass arrangement for the song. (hence, it didn't unlock during my 6th bass double encore)

hope this info will help the devs on how to fix the problem regarding previoulsy unlocked hidden songs before the august 2012 patch & bass dlc. for now, i will keep this second save file just so i can practice the bass arrangements for all 5 hidden songs.

well, i went back to my old save file, played an event on bass, nailed another double encore and hoped it would unlock a hidden song, but no dice, man.

The other night I was playing multi-player bass-guitar with MiniCoop and noticed a slight anomaly. Then I found this thread. Here's my story:

When I first got the bass expansion pack, I started playing right away. Same profile, same everything - just started playing bass. I played several events (not having any problems there) right away and unlocked all four remaining secret squirrel songs with bass arrangements. In regular guitar, I had unlocked only one SSC song - Space Ostrich. In bass I easily unlocked 6 AM Salvation, Ricochet, Jules, and Boss within a matter of a few days.

I unlocked 6AM Salvation on my first bass event. I unlocked Ricochet the same day on Event 4 (8/17). I unlocked Jules at Event 5 the next day (8/18). Then I couldn't buy a double encore for a while. Finally, on Event 12, I unlocked Boss (on 8/23). Initially, I noticed that I could play all the SSC songs that I unlocked in bass mode in regular guitar mode, too, and vice versa.

Then, the other night, MiniCoop and I were playing multi-player with him on bass and me on regular guitar. He chose Boss for us to play, which he and I had both unlocked in bass mode. When he pulled up Boss in multi-player, it was locked for me on regular guitar! I didn't check it out right away, so maybe something has been fixed in the past couple of days. But, tonight I checked and all 5 of my unlocked SSC songs ARE available to me in regular, single-player guitar mode.

So, at least in my case, it appears that there may be some weird inconsistency in multi-player mode. But, in regular single-player mode, every song that I unlocked in bass is also unlocked and playable on regular guitar. Including Space Penguin which I unlocked on guitar long before the bass expansion ever came out. So, maybe the problem is fixed, but maybe not. I'll have to check multi-player mode out again to see if I run into the same problem this time.

So, to the Rocksmith devs.. Moral of the story is: Don't lock songs. It's really not a good idea. There's nothing I can do to play these 6 songs on my main profile at the moment on bass, I've had well over 6 double encores on bass, and since I've already unlocked these on guitar they just won't unlock.

Please just send out a code to unlock these songs. End the pain, nobody wins when we can't play your songs. It's fine if you lock guitars, effects, (and pirate hats as I have mentioned before) etc.. behind double encores, just not songs. We all want to play all the songs.

Same issue for me as well - Boss was unlocked from the beginning and I can't unlock any of the other locked songs. At least they are still unlocked on guitar :(

I have gone back and played Multiplayer with MiniCoop a few times since my post, and it seems that the Secret Squirrel songs are now unlocked for me on guitar in multiplayer mode. But, I haven't heard anything official about this entire issue.

I hear ya. I didn't expect a fix for this anytime soon so I started a new PS3 user to unlock the songs for bass. The good news is it only took me 5 events to get all 5 songs. Now I can use that account if I want to play the 5 secret songs for bass.

i hope that that unlock dlc isn't the easy way out solution the developers are resorting to because it basically defeats the primary purpose of this game: you strive to learn and play better with the help of this game and thus be rewarded by unlocking bonus songs. having them readily available - at a price! - is honestly insulting considering i worked hard to earn double encores and unlock those songs.

It's been said in many places that the game is no longer being updated other than DLC. Since the bug will not be fixed, any hope of the unlock item in the store being made free?
