I am in but do not see anything that others have been writing about. Lights, sunflowers, etc. Are we talking about the same age?

Edanna is the Age that is all inside a giant tree. When you first arrive there, you can see a flower, some vines, and a giant plant with leaves spiraling down its stalk.
Voltaic is the Age that has all the mechanical stuff. When you arrive there you see a small stone building with a round metal door -- it's locked and you can't get in.
Amateria is the Age that looks like a Japanese fishing village with the perpetual thunderstorm at sunset and all the crazy-looking puzzles.
Does that clear things up a bit?

edanna can be a really confusing age, cause so often its impossible to figure out where u are and where u came from. just explore a bit, and your should find some stuf that sounds familiar. thats always the most important thing in myst, explore and experiment. its the fun stuf http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

It doesn't hurt to click on those funny looking plants sometime! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif and before you know it you are swiftly and graciously led down into the depths of Edenna. That is, if you are in Edenna of course this hint will be useful to you.

Thank you for your replies. I have clicked on the two funny looking plants. One gives me access to the return book to J'nanin the other shows a view with a bright light that does nothing. I think I can see where the final book is but I can't find a way to get to it. Others who have received answers refer to things I can't find. Frustrating.

This is my frustration. Your replies to evlbutafly list the squee, a trapped bird(mine flew away right at the beginning), a fish in the bubble(melon), red or pink berries, no one has talked to me, no mural anywhere. It makes me wonder if I am in the same age as I don't see any of these things.

You just haven't gone to all those places yet. In Edanna, one of the tricky things is to figure out what is a path and what isn't, so look around carefully. And make sure your monitor setting is bright enough. And if you get really stuck, feel free to ask for a hint http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Thank you for the offer. I have gone up and down the three levels clicking like mad everywhere, over the edge of the regular path, up the walls, down the holes, in non obvious places until I have run out of ideas. So please a little hint. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

The flower that gives a view with a bright light actually DOES do something -- and you'll run into it more than once in this Age. Have you noticed what you can look at through that flower? Go back down and look at that area up close. Do any of these plants look familiar? A similar one helped you get to this area. The one you're looking at now could help you get somewhere new, only it doesn't seem to be working. Compare it with the first plant to see if you can figure out what it needs. Then figure out where you can get what it needs and how the sunflower can help you get it.
I hope this helps http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
Good luck!

I was hoping that I didn't have to call for help again but I need it. I am in the lower part of Edanna. Ifound one leaf bridge that went nowhere, the fish is in the bubble, I haven't found anyone to talk to me. The only mural looks like a rabbit, is that right? Who or what is Saav? Others have mentioned berries, are they the bumbs on the walls? Enough questions for now. Be kind!

Saavedro (or Saav, for short) is the bad guy. The one who stole the book you're trying to get back for Atrus. You saw him in the beginning and (lucky you!) you get to hear him on recorded messages in each of the Ages you visit.
The mural is a large painting Saav made on the side of a stone wall (he made a few of them trying to describe the desperation of his plight to Atrus).
The berries are real, actual berries.
The rabbit-like creature is called a Squee and you need to enlist its help if you want to get anywhere else in this Age.
Does that answer your questions?

The leaf bridge you have found doesn't go nowhere. While on the bridge, look around and click on things. You may find a means of bridging a gap...

Stumped-I have freed the bird, put the fish in it's pool, visited the sunflower(?)over the leaf bridge. Messed around with the orchid lights until I am sick of them. But earlier I went to a place that had a ball like plant and I raised two antennas on it, I can't find it again (lost) also, earlier I came across A trapeze like thing in a new place, used it but now I can't find it again. I'm missing something, Help.
You say you have freed the bird. You got the bird out of the plant? Saw her fly away? Concerned as you said you messed with the orchid plants, visited the sunflower, etc. but are sick of them. Some folks consider the first engagement with the bird to be freeing her.
There is another trapeze thing near the hollow log. You have to go through the hollow log and then turn back and look carefully as there is an intersecting path that takes you to the trapez that goes to the very lowes part of the tree. A swamp area with two large flower things. This is the last puzzle to work before leaving Edanna.

I can see the trapeze while near the sunflower, between the tree trunks, I have been there but I can't find a way to it anymore. I know the hollow tree trunk by heart!! I'll look again for something odd in the hollow tree.

Got it. Found the book, butterfly flew away, found the trapeze stepped on a plant that hung two leafs on a limb, started back and the plant fell off. Do I go home now??
Rob, if I understand what you just did you are just beginning on the lowest level.
Ride the trapeze down and you saw the butterfly that flew away. Then you stepped into the lifting plant and rode back up to the limb. Now you must ride the trapeze back down and start walking the paths and looking for the two flowers in the swamp. You will never see the butterfly again.
When the time is right the big bird will come and take you to the symbols.

Thank you. I am now back on J'nanin with three books with three symbols. I haven't the faintest idea what I am to do with then. If I am to remember instructions given in the beginning of the game, no chance, it has been over a year. What next, I am in the main tower downstairs. Directions please
Go upstairs and try to remember what you saw Saav do just before he left.
You must put each symbol, one at a time, into a special machine. Listen to a couple of videos and then the egg shape thing will come up so you can get to Narayan.

I'm backupstairs I don't know what Saav did, too long ago. I went to the port hole for Amatera & Edanna and arranged the balls according to some records I had but I am missing the ball locations for Voltaic. Am I on the right track? I couldn't find any special machine in this room. What videos, the ones at the top of the room?
RobDeWitt - if you have the three symbols, one from each age, you don't need to play with the marbles any more. Go to the opening by the center where the egg shaped cage is. You should see a blue bowl. Place the symbols, one at a time, on this blue bowl. This should get you to the linking book to Narayan.

Go back upstairs where the telescopes are. Once there you need to remember what Saav did the first time you went up the elevator......how did he get the book to rise itself ? Use your three symbols to do that.
That should put you on the right track! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I solved the symbol puzzles then Saav came out and said do it. I moved the handle to the left and he threw the book away. I started over and moved the handle to the right. He threw the book away and left. I started over, this time he killed me. I had saved so I don't have to do the puzzles over, Savv is gone and I can't go anywhere. Hint, do I have to start over from the tower again?

I keep trying but I got killed again. Sent long hair to his people and reported to Tomahna who were very disapointed as long hair threw the book away again. Can't get off, stuck and I would like to move on. I have three discs to go and can't get to them. I'm in my eighties and time is running out!!

You are on to the problem. You need to get Saav to hand you the book. Then while he is still trapped and you have the book there is a way to set him free to go to his people. You need to play with the power. Been upstairs lately.

I've done it. Thank you. MystIII complete. Now what are the other three CDs for and how do I use them?
When you did the install you must have chosen the full install option. At that time you were asked to insert each of the four CD's and they were loaded to your hard drive. This saved you from haveing to keep exchanging CD's to keep the game going. Had you done the regulare install it would have been necessary to keep changing the CD as the game progressed.
Nothing more for you to do at this time. Maybe you should pickup Myst or Riven and continue to have fun.
