Great news... but crap I just realized I've never set my bass up properly, now I have to learn how to get the relief and action right on a bass :/ is it different than guitar? (I would imagine you probably need some decent relief on a bass as opposed to a guitar but I have no idea)

Every retail product on the face of the planet comes out with new and improved versions once a year for the same price as the previous year's model. You're an idiot.

Check out Talkbass.com, they have a number of stickies with links pertinent to bass setup. Setting up a bass is only really diffeent ifrom guitat n the numbers, i.e. the strings on a guitar will be much closer to the fretboard than those on a bass, for example. The tools and techniques are pretty much the same.
TB is just an excellent resource for bassists in general. I highly recommend it.

Well you can buy the game for 50 dollars online and then just pay 30 for the bass dlc and you paid the same as the rest of US. Use your brain not your fingers

I've seen at least a couple of online stores (Amazonm, Gamestop) selling the game for 40 bucks, with thirty bucks for the bass add-on, that's seventy total. That's what I paid for the game in March, and in two weeks I'm going to get the add-on for another thirty for a grand total of a hundred dollars. You don't hear me complaining, do you? .

if you bought the game when it first came it, it cost you 80 bucks and did not come with bass add on... most all other good game companies do not screw their customers like this. the way i view it, we've paid to beta test rocksmith for ubisoft. this expansions should cost everyone 30 bucks, not just the people dumb enough to buy software while it was in it's beta stage. almost a year for a patch that might fix our ps3 crashes is not acceptable.... the pc version pushed back a year. not acceptable... this list of bs goes on and on. i've very unsatisfied with their business practices. and rocksmith is just basically a more visually appealing rip off of guitar pro... if ubi were'nt trying suck every penny out of us on this they would allow for custom song tab/creation. keep being blind and rocksmith will just die like all the other cheesy games out there or they could wake up and allow people to have control over the songlist they want to learn... do that and rocksmith will outsell guitar pro and all the others.
they already got my cash, but i wont be fooled again.

Why did this thread turn into something about ubisoft and their business practices? I just wanted to let everyone know that the Bass dlc and patch got moved to August 14. We don't have to get mad and violent here. If you don't want to buy from them, then don't buy from them. Don't complain here. I think there is another section on the website for complaining to Ubisoft.

I dunno, but let's all get back to being happy about the bass DLC.
At least until the skin is worn off my fingers. That is why I stopped playing bass last time. I weren't my frettin' fingers either, it was my thumpin' fingers. LOL!

Hey. same here. haha. I don't play bass often, but I've play bass a few times. At the end of each time, my fingers on my right hand hurt more than my fretting fingers. I guess its cause my left hand fingers are already toughened up from guitar a bit. My right hand has always used a pick. x.x

Heh, then maybe those of us who started on classical guitar have a very minor headstart on this... although obviously the nylon strings hardly cause any discomfort, even the wound strings aren't anywhere close to the thickness of even the highest bass string.

Just a reminder - posting intent to pirate software - is an offence - so please do not post saying you intend to do..
illegal downloading of software cost's the industry billions - money which could be used to make bigger and better games..
It's also against the forum rules [oddly enough] ;)

most all other good game companies do not screw their customers like this.
Whenever you buy one of the Everquest or Everquest 2 expansions, it includes the base game and all other expansions. So people that bought the game and expansions as they were released end up spending a lot more than those that are just starting out with the latest expansion. Even World of Warcraft where you have to buy each and every expansion, you can usually get a set of the base game plus the first couple expansions for a greatly reduced price than if you had bought them all as they came out.
Granted, an MMORPG isn't anything like Rocksmith, but the bass support did take significant development time and you can't expect them to just give it away for free.

I posted this on their facebook page, I'm also going to ask here lol
Is this going to as extensive training as the guitar version was? Say I was a complete noob to bass, (I am) will I be able to learn like I was with guitar or is this more of something for people who have some knowledge of bass playing already?

I'm kinda waiting on the announcement that the European release will be 4 weeks early....
I was so bored with RB DLC that I've already bought a guitar, and I'm sure I can't wait much longer before I'll run out for a bass. But then what.... :(

Good job Ubi!!!!
I'm impressed that you keep improving your product and providing new content.
Few patch notes would be appreciated when you have the time :)
For those complaining... everything costs. How much has RS cost you per hour of enjoyment?
Once you actually do the math please get embarrased and stop posting your rants.

I posted this in another thread but thought to post it here as well for further consideration. I too am looking forward to the Bass release and already have a Bass guitar ready to ROCK!!! But, I was believing that the PATCH would have been released a bit earlier, so that it could be tested out by us, the users, before we add additional content via bass support. Additional software in all likelihood, is going to have a few bugs of its own and may end up 'masking' the effectiveness of the patch. I may be off track here and, of course this is My Opinion and I stand to be corrected, but I do believe that it would be more beneficial to all concerned, to have a little time to 'check out' the effectiveness/ success of said patch, before we add the Bass support. 'Nuff Said, Rock On !!

I'm pretty sure they said that you can use your 5-string, but they don't have any songs designed for it (atleast not yet).

From official Rocksmith bass contend FAQ (from http://rocksmith.ubi.com/rocksmith/en-us/home/index.aspx/):
'I have a five-string / fretless bass… Can I still play Rocksmith?
Yes! Even though Rocksmith will not support the additional utility or certain aspects of your bass, if it has a ¼" output jack and you’re able to play along with the in-game prompts, you’ll be able to enjoy the new bass content. However, we recommend the use of a four-string bass, as the content was designed with that in mind.'

I am thinking they will tab out songs to use a four string instead of a five and use a lower tuning for songs that were originally played with a five.

Has there been any talk to add more people to multiplayer? Like 2 guitars + 1 bass? I know this will be to crowded on most tvs, but if you got a huge projector or something it might work. Maybe to much work for something not that many people will use

I don’t have a bass… Can I still play the new bass content?
Yes! The bass content features a Bass Emulation mode, so you can play every bass part with your regular six-string guitar.
Interesting...

If any info please help...ok so i know this really isnt thread related but will there be any type of b,c tuning added to this game??
