The colors in the first post are what makes up the Splinter Cell Palette. The "00: 8E" thing is an Inactive entry in the second Abbatoir map.
And, do you all remember that long period when I disappeared? Well, can you guess what I was doing? Yeah, I was making the first custom Splinter Cell map, heheheheheh...

The only thing it is right now is a single grass box. Mostly I've been figuring out the texture system and reverse-engineering the .scl map format. I've only uncovered 3 textures and 2 nObj ID's:
Texture #1 : GRAS00F
Texture #2 : MET3BLU
Texture #3 : FLA900C
nObj #1 : Player 1 Start, ID is -1
nObj #2 : Civilian 1, ID is 3058
So, for obvious reasons, not much progress has been made on the actual map, but more on figuring out the texture system, nObj system, and the nodes format (to compile the map correctly).

First, download XWE (eXtendable Wad Editor) by Csabo, and extract it to any folder. You don't need an iWad to use it. Then, open any file you want and the entries will appear on the side. To extract an entry to an external file, click once on the entry, then go to the top menu and choose Entry->Save As.

I've just discovered what I call a "generalized effect."
45879 : Light Switch / Set Lighting to hi-tag
argument 1: lo-tag...?
argument 2: unknown...
argument 3: hi-tag (I think)
argument 4: segment trigger?
argument 5: unknown...
Most of the arguments are only speculation ATM. If I can find a map file that isn't truncated to 512 entries, I can confirm this. And, now, the only things to do to have this effect implemented into my map is to figure out the sObj ID of the light switch, I need to figure out the 5 arguments for this generalized effect, and I need to learn about hi-tags and lo-tags as well as using dummy sectors, from what I can tell from the commercial maps.

ANOTHER UPDATE: I've come up with a little something for glitchy custom maps, for those other than me who have figured out how to do it.
You must take a look at the exact size of the map (in bytes) and replace the existing header ID on the map file with the byte size of your new map in a hex editor. It is a very fragile hack, so be careful...
I'm expecting UBI to crack down on my cheap-hacker-*** any second now...

ANOTHER REALLY GOOD UPDATE WHICH ALSO SERVES AS A BUMP : I've begun writing CEU, the Cell Editing Utilities. One day, you all will be able to make your own Splinter Cell maps. I mean, I've already broken through Ubi's map format and decoded some of it! And, if any official UBI employees are reading this, your sales probably won't decline too much; this editor will probably only work with the original Splinter Cell http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
But hey, I don't have to release it if nobody cares...
EDIT: Screw that. CEU is off the ground, based on the DEU source, and I've successfully got it saving .SCL files. Problem is, I need to look at the entries in the original .scl files and get it saving the .SCL files properly.

XWE supports all of them. When you click File->New, under the filetype dropdown menu, click "All Files," and at the end of your filename, put your extension.

No, actually it's a pretty common mix-up. It's just that LMP's are used in a much greater role in Doom than Quake; LMPs make up the entire game, while in Quake they're just demos (IIRC).

CEU UPDATE:
I've optimized the way that the CEU finds hi-tags in maps and I'm experimenting with the Splinter Cell map format for use in CEU.

I've updated CEU: The CEU now serves dual purposes as a Doom editor and a Splinter Cell editor. Also, I've begun the process of working on the real Splinter Cell map system. So far, it's very very glitchy and hardly works at all, but so far I can make a .SCL file that doesn't crash the game entirely. The game will start up, and when I press new game, it bombs out. Before, the game didn't even start up. The problem is going to be the internal entries in the .SCL's...
