Hi guys, I posted not long ago asking for advice on my desire to purchase a new electric/acoustic guitar, and received tons of great advice ! I am still going through the stage of ' look and test ' and of not making hasty decisions ! But, guess what ? I just did just that !! I saw this used Gibson being sold by someone, liked how it looked,... played around a bit on it and then decided to buy it:nonchalance: I don't even know the exact model or year, but I bought it anyways.:p I need ya'lls help once again as, like I mentioned in my previous post, I have no real experience in buying guitars but now, suddenly, I Have GAS !!! Is RS responsible for this or what ??? I will post below a few links to images I've made of this 'axe' and would truly appreciate it if someone could lend me some assistance in ID;ing it.

Looks interesting.

Are those your pics?

I mean, do you have the guitar in hand, or are those the sellers pics?

Good looking guitar there bro! I used to have a mint condition 1957 Gibson LP that was handed down by the grandfather and it was stolen due to burglary of our home!. Give anything to have it back.

strick95, thank you for your very detailed info. I agree with you, my own does look almost identical to the Sonex you linked to but, I say almost identical because mine has a small two way switch behind the pots and close to the input jack which, I belive from testing it, switches from double-coils to singe coil in the two humbuckers. I don't see that switch on the pics you linked to. Thanks for your prompt and detailed help my friend.

rcole, yes I do have it in hand and so far, IT Sounds and FEELS good in hand. I don't know what happened as I was intent on acquiring an elec/acoustic axe and will still do so but now, I seem to have a serious attack of GAS !!! As soon as I saw it, my eyes were like locked onto it. Do you have any info. on that small two way switch I mentioned above ? In one position the sound is very 'rich and full-bodied/volume' and in the other, it seems to be less so. I may be wrong but it sounds to me as though it switches coils on the pickups. I just got it like twenty four hours ago and, apart from doing a bit of cleaning, I haven't really put it through a rigid test. I will take some better/closer pics and upload them. Thanks for your help. Keep on Rockin'

The switch could be a single coil mode, or it could be in-phase/out-of-phase. It could even be some active boost or eq board in the guitar. One would have to open it up and have a look at the wiring.

Post some pics of the wiring, and I can maybe guess. It would be lucky, if I could, as I am not a wiring expert, by any means.

If you post these question on mylespaul.com, someone will be able to help. A lot of knowledgable folks over there. It gets a little hairy at times, so be warned about that.

Nice Piece. In fact you are correct about the switch. I have never owned one with them but I have heard about them. Kind of a neat feature IMO, I love my Humbuckers, but there is nothing like a good single coil to pluck some blues or country out!! How much was the damage to the ole wallet? Just curious if you dont mind.

Yup, that's it strick95, that's the one I have except fot the color, mine is a sweet satin ebony with white trim

Thanks MercenaryFury, she does look SWEET and plays that way too, even though I haven't had it set up and restrung as of yet.

Appreciate the advice rcole_sooner, I will certainly check out that site.

cws78, let's just say it was not too bad, as I've still got to decide on which electric/acoustic I am gonna buy, but, if I post the actual amount here, the wife may discover it and...., well....,let's just say simply that I want to continue playing for a little while more:o

Well, I suppose it's true when they say, that you can only have "One True Love" at any one time, trying to have two lovely 'women' simultaneously, even if one is stiff, cold and inanimate and made of wood and steel, (although she may "sing" beautifully:p) is not possible. They both require you to spend your hard earned cash:eek: Oh well, Rock On and keep some facts not fully disclosed is all I can say.
