There are posts on the RS twitter and FB that if you message them, they will give you a guide to stop(?) the freezes until the patch comes out. I have emailed them, but not heard back yet. Once I get the information, i'll post more.

I shot a message over to them on facebook, was asked my email so they could send the guide to me, gave it to them and I am currently waiting.

Hasn't been a long wait by the way, they were very quick in responding.

yeah, response time for the FB pm was only a couple minutes and it was more than just bot reply spam.

Any reason they can't post those steps here... If anyone gets the steps - may as well post them so folks don't need a FB/Twitter account to get unblocked.

that struck me as odd too. they have to personally email a fix to people instead of publicly posting it?

I'm wondering the work-arounds are pretty painful, so they don't want to message the negative things PS3 users have to do? Either way, someone should post them here :)

Step one was installing some software and plugging in my PS Eye.

Step two was about taking off my shirt, not sure how that helped, but w/e.

It's funny you mention the Eye, ever since I got that thing(via PS Move) I've always unplugged it after use or during certain games....just in case.

I remember it would take snapshots of you during Burnout Paradise(Mugshots and Smugshots or something) and I'm the type of gamer...well, I'm not always fully dressed when I play. THAT DOES NOT MEAN I'M NAKED....just that I am far from camera ready.

That last thing I'd want is to become some sort of demotivational poster.

They were quick with getting my email address, but nothing since then. I'm thinking they were hacked.

I was/am starting to think that myself. Too eager to receive a fix on my part.

However, why only PS3 users? I've read that there are occasional issues with xbox too, plus wouldn't it be more convenient to get as many email addys as possible for whatever reason if hacking is the problem?

Another possibility, they are going to do a one-time email to all the addresses they have received sometime tomorrow.

I guess if any of us start getting massive amounts of, "Increase your size overnight!!!" emails it will be easier to guess what happened.

rcole_sooner

It is actually on their FB page too, so I have some confidence it is not a hack.

No one seems to have received the guide yet, however.

Not trying to turn this into a ps3 vs 360 thing, but the simple answer is the problems with the 360 are hardware related and only affect a small percentage of users (and since it is generally a dying 360 to blame, no changes in software will improve this), whereas the ps3 is software related and can be replicated provided the circumstances of the bugs are met.

My guess for the ps3 "fix" is going to be something like backup save data, uninstall all DLC (not going to be able to reinstall until post-patch), delete game data files, then restore the database & file system. If that's the case I don't blame them for not posting it up publicly, if they did they'd have a ton of "I followed your instructions and now I lost all my data, you guys suck, never going to buy/play Rocksmith again, etc."

Just Curious, but when did UBI officially state this issue about the xbox360. I have a almost new 360s about a little over a year. The issues I have are the really slow saves between songs which seems to have gotten worse since I have every DLC. And two, the other problem I have is I hate playing events that are really long only to have the darn thing lock up after getting encore and bonus song, hence I only have three bonus songs unlocked. If there is an official statement from UBI can you please post the link. Thanks!

They need to start posting more on the sites via forums or stickys, I have a FB account but rarely use it and I dont do twitter. I would think since this is the official site that they would feed more info here instead of FB and Twitter.
It's as if we are running the website, Toy has been on top of things posting hints as well as other community members. Thanks Toy and everyone else I appreciate it.

P.S. I am going with a hack as well............It is just the mindset of an I.T. Guy:rolleyes:

I have no official links from ubi about the 360 hardware, just my own experience and those of other games on this forums (and the other I frequent) to back up my statement. Sorry, I should have made this clear in the first post. I currently own 5 xbox 360s (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Dm8mThv1Q4&list=UU7QAnnilY1WcMkM8jaXkU-A&index=3&feature=plcp) and had done at least 3 exchanges due to RROD on the earlier models. The freezing, locks ups, failure to load textures, etc all all warning signs of a defective console. Problems I have on one unit go away when I use another. The slims are less prone to failure but it does still happen.

Well what can you do that's Microsoft for ya LOL!!
Do you have the long saving times as well? Or is it just because I have all the DLC loaded, It is almost as the game itself is not telling the console to allocate more memory as more songs and scores to these song are saved to the HDD, a read and write issue?? Or maybe my HDD is getting ready to take a dump!!

HadOne2Many

Here's something you could try to see if it is the hard drive. First thing would be to move your gamertag, game save data and DLC to a flash drive and completely remove the hard drive. If this fixes it then it is the drive. Then you could either reformat the hard drive and move the data back to it, or just keep using the flash drive. I prefer the flash drive since I move between consoles a lot. A 16GB one is plenty of room for all the DLC.

Another thing that could be causing your problems is the console trying to read the game disc data. If you have it installed to the hard drive I'd try uninstalling it and running it off the disc. If you're playing off the disc try installing it to the hard drive.

Of course it could be software too, we can't rule that out. I just think we'd hear a lot more people with the problem if it was since there are 100,000 or so more people playing that version than the PS3 (according to vgchartz.com).

Never thought about this, but my disc does spin up and stays spinning until I actually start a song. I have the game download to the HDD and I know that the Xbox will give the disc a spin to make sure you have the game in there, maybe its to much for the console to be bouncing between all the DLC and the game on the HDD. I will try that tonight.

Thanks for the tip

anything we didn't know already?

Not really. Basically delete our game data (not the save data) and try limiting the downloaded dlc we re-install to about 20 songs.

I can't say I'm pleased with this, but at least they are trying something. I am not planning to do it as I've already done it once before, and if I remember right Sony only gives you five or so chances to re-download stuff pain and trouble free until you have to do some sort of silliness like call them or something(related to game sharing I believe).

Besides, most of the songs I want to play are dlc...

Previously, it did help with the freezing for a while, but the issue still appeared anyway...but they did make it clear it's not a 100% sure fix, or that it will even help some people.

NOTE: This is not the official workaround

What I have been doing with some success (rarely freezes) on PS3 now, since I restarted playing with a new profile, instead of deleting all DLC:
1) Avoid playing events
2) Play fewer arrangements, if possible only one per song
3) If playing events, play it straight after booting the game
4) If playing events, avoid multiple tunings (i.e. no drop D + standard tuning on the same setlist)
5) Avoid mastering songs, if a song is all levelled up, do not score more than 100K
6) Unplug all peripherals that I'm not using, like headsets, rockband instruments, PS eye...

I'm level 9, have all DLC and I'm having no problems with freezes now. Unfortunately I can't work on master songs either (I had over 100 mastered arrangements, level 11, with everything in the game unlocked before the freezes started)

Wow, seems like you're making a lot of sacrifices. My work-around has been to always play on a profile that is below RS Level 6, by creating a fleet of user profiles and trying NOT to gain RSP/RS levels by avoiding events and ending many of my full song rehearsals before RS can tally the score. I have 4 PS3 profiles now that I shuffle between (and will add more or start erasing RS game saves), with my primary being the one I access PSN with and download all the DLC (playable across all my profiles). I play RS from 1 to 5 hours a day, at least 5 days a week, and I've never had a freeze while playing at RS Level 5 and below (this includes after events, noodling on the strings while waiting for a song to load, playing the song Good Enough, etc.). RS Level 6 has always been the point that the freezing begins to creep in for me, so that's where I stop that profile's journey & start over. This allows me to max-level and master as many songs as I can, play all DLC, play all arrangements, etc. Really the only thing I've sacrificed is playing events and the arbitrary goal of reaching RS Level 11 "Rocksmith". Not a big fan of the echoed audio of the event venues and could care less about reaching RS Level 11, so I'm content with my work-around until the next patch.

according to the .pdf , the patch fix will be September 4.

Basically the way to prevent freezes is to delete the game data, not your save/profile data, re-install the game with the updated patchfrom january/february, don't add more than 20 DLC songs because the problem seems to be an oveload of data according to Ubi rocksmith team, so limit yourself witht the # of songs until the new patch comes.

I have been playing with this temporaty fix, i haven't downloaded any DLC songs because PSN is on maintenance, it runs a bit smoother but barely noticeable, hasn't frozen yet.

I will not post the .pdf because it has an email from one of the Ubi rocksmith team members, don't want him to receive spam, also its not my work so not sure if it would apreciated to copy and paste his work into here.

No luck so far. I have followed the instructions and still get lock ups during events. I have a 4 song event i'm working on and have tried a number of permutations of the set list. The furthest I have gotten was to remove an unlocked song which got me to an encore. Now, I do have a mastered song in the set list (Go With The Flow) which I will replace and try again after work.

I have not spent any time just playing individual songs though. I can say that while doing rehearsals, I did not have any lock ups which IS a good sign for simply playing. Tonight or this weekend, I will work on just going through some songs and see how that works out.

I do have quite a few song arrangements with 50K plus scores which may be lending itself to the problem. With that in mind, I am working on a test case for Ubisoft detailing the shipped songs, arrangements and my scores for them along with my arcade scores and challenge scores from the .. oh dang, what's it called? Where you work on slides, harmonics, hammer-ons, etc.,

Now, as we are going into August, I would think that the patch has already been submitted to PS, and this may (hopefully) be a moot point.

Hey guys, if you missed my post earlier, I'm Mike the community developer for Rocksmith. I sent the guide out to all the folks who sent us facebook messages.

Let me clear the situation up for you, there is a proper patch for PS3 built which we've got ready which will come out Sept 4 as of now, but we're working on getting it out earlier if possible. Until then, because we know you guys have been waiting and frustrated, the game team and myself made the guide to try and provide a possible temporary workaround for everyone.

The reason the guide is unofficial is we made it on the fly, just trying to help in any way we can. It hasn't been through legal or anything and isn't an official support doc. It's simply a pdf with some screen shots that walks the user through deleting the Game Data in the PS3 system for Rocksmith and makes it clear NOT to delete save data.

We're not testing anything out on users, no conspiracy or anything, just trying to present a possible temporary fix until the patch comes out!

Feel free to ask me anything here, i'll check back regularly today.

Hahahaha, much appreciated!

In regards to Xbox issues, I'm honestly not knowledgeable about bugs enough to speak to any other errors you have found. The dev team explained the issue to me so I'd be versed on it, then approved my write up. The only bug i can really speak to is the PS3 freezing issue. Sorry I can't be more help on this.

Yes and no. My way of playing has the advantage of keeping everything in a single profile and having all bonus songs, pedals and tones unlocked. When the patch is released I can resume playing with the same profile, and mastering songs that are already levelled up is pretty quick.

I dat to split 2000 and 2000 dlc. Same noe with 2010. Level six is the begining of the freezing. It's fun to play this game and track progress. Ideally the patch will finally allow you to play all songs on one profile.

Well, i made it through a set, 4 songs at lvl 11, and the crowd has been cheering me for a good 15 minutes now. I know it's frozen, but it's rather soothing to my ego.

Mean *****, Breed, Icky, Sunshine of your love. None of them mastered (although all required 90k).

Haven't DL'ed any DLC since clearing my game data.

..still, i actually made it through 4 songs. Usually i lock up after the first if i even get that far.
