It is most likely still to be same damage in Single Player, but in multi-player it might take some more shots?

Yeah, I'd guess they'll beef everybody up for multi-player. Three chest shots, though, isn't TOO inaccuarte for a 5.56mm (probably a max number of hits, though)..

Yeah, I wish the "hard" difficulty added more guys, random patrols, smarter responses, or something other than the ability to take inhuman damage if not shot directly in the head. If I shoot anyone 5 or 6 times in the chest with either of those weapons, they sure as heck aren't gonna be in the fight anymore. Perhaps not dead (if they're lucky), but they're sure as heck not gonna be shooting at you anymore...

Not going to comment on how many shots it takes to kill someone because i have no experince with it. Besides in SC I generally killed with one shot, I figured I am stealthy better take as few shots as possible and make them count.
But in the case of multiple shots I wish if you his a guy in the leg or arm or chest they would not react as though they were in perfect health, in the Oil rig mission I never shot at the tech guy becuase it would slow me down but not him uness I somehow got his head.
I would say the biggest problem in SC was the damage system (And not that big of a problem) I think this part of the game was left at lower priority to encourage peopel to use stealth as opposed to brute force.

"I think this part of the game was left at lower priority to encourage peopel to use stealth as opposed to brute force."
That's a good point. I really don't think it'd be that hard-I mean, Ubi's Ghost Recon had a decent system already in place and that's been out longer than SC. Wouldn't think it'd have been too hard to just copy that system over to Splinter Cell... But what do I know about programming?

I have checked by shooting the same guard several times in the general area of his heart and it is a bit smaller than the head.
I hardly ever use head shots... I shot most of them in the chest(upper left area near the shoulder) that way if you mis the head(which you won't) at leats the bullet didn't go to waste.
yes it will take three shots.
In real life.
It would take one shot. cause you would hit em in the lungs.

Trouble is, one shot chest kills usually aren't instant. Yeah, he's gonna die within a couple seconds, perhaps as many as fifteen or twenty if he's tough and/or really lucky, but still enough to get a few shots off in your general direction (or even stagger out of view so you're not positive if they're dead). I wish games would actually depict these types of delayed deaths a bit more. Perhaps that might be considered too brutal or something for the game market?

The human body is a wierd thing, and 1 shot isn't always a garuntee, because with adrenaline pumping, people can do super-human things.

yeah i agree they added the massive damage count to make people use stealh more. but i also think that one shot anywhere would incapacitate the vicitm if not kill. even with suc a small calibre bullets in the leg means an eventual pass out, or a bad fall, 6ft is a long way for a head.in PT i would expect the same level of difficulty in the early missions as the police levels in SC1 as many people will go straight to the sequel, sad as that is.

one shot would not incapacitate/kill everywhere on the body. If some dude gets shot in the hand, he isn't going to fall to the ground. And you need to bleed a LOT before you pass out, so when you shoot the guy, he isn't going to pass out before you kill him or he kills you.

BUT, the fact remains that holes in the body HURT (sometimes a "minor" hand shot can hurt the worst). I've read a couple studies on .308 (7.62mm) wounds and generally, a chest shot will take the victim out of the game-they tend to concentrate more on living than being able to get a clean shot. Even limb shots slowed down their effectiveness considerably. Granted a 5.56mm possibly isn't as effective (the smaller, faster bullet tends to go through with less permament wound channel damage), but I'd doubt the results are too different. I think they should make the wounds more realistic (staggering, wild shooting, disengaging, and even delayed deaths), but increase the penalty for contact-one dead body MIGHT be able to be explained, two dead bodies means your work will be investigated and the information you've gathered compromised-mission failure.
