Man, that was painful to read. Not because i like the Driver series, but because i didn't realise games could be so bad.

Ya, you guys really need to try the game out for yourselves. Reviews are nice to use as guidelines and to get a general idea of how a game plays, but you also have to remember that a review is only one person's opinion. I'm waiting for the PC version in September. And it's not Atari's fault for this. They are only the publisher. They do give their opinions and what they want to see in the game, but it is really up to the developer to create it all. It's also been a while since Reflections' has developed any games. In fact this is the first game they've ever made on the XBOX. Overall Atari is a good publisher. They've got great games like the Unreal Tournament series and the Roller Coaster Tycoon series. Every company has their bad games. Anybody remember Enter the Matrix or Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness which both bombed. In fact Tomb Raider was so bad that Eidos Interactive took away the rights from Core Design to make Tomb Raider games. Also take a look at Breed on the PC. It was said to be a Halo killer before it was released but it's just a bunch of garbage. When the developer, Brat Designs, for Breed submited the final game to the publisher, CDV Software, the game was barely playable. In this case the publisher actually had to spoof up the game just to get it to run. They even went so far as to make the graphics better, because the textures that the developer used was a disgrace. In the case of Driver 3 it's mainly the developer's fault, but it can be the publisher's fault sometimes. It's obviously Activison's design decision to make the PC version of Spiderman 2 into more of a child's game than the hardcore game that will appear on the consoles. I'm sure the developer, Treyarch, does not appreciate having to make so many stupid changes to the PC version just to turn it into a kid-friendly game.

I know that review is more like personal opinion but when some game get 5 then U know that it is bad. If it was 7 then I would say "I still want to check it out but 5..." http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

That's why I'll still try it. Often times some of the worst reviews turn out to be the most enjoyable games. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

Well that's what I was expect, I mean it got a better preview than review. Although GS are notorious for being pedantic.

What do some of the other sites say?

A lot of websites like IGN and GameSpot are giving it scores below 60%, but normal people who actually go out and buy the game are giving it some good scores. Usually around 80% or more. Personally I just think that we have become way too picky when it comes to this type of game. In other words we're way too used to the gameplay of the Grand Theft Auto series which doesn't make Driver 3 look too good to us. But I'm sure it is pretty fun if you actually play it.

driv3r is a MASSIVE let down, the graphics are just about average, the driving sections aren't too bad but the on foot sections OMG! it seems like the developers just put that part in within the last 5 miutes of development in other words absolutely PATHETIC, but of course this is only my opinion, i'm glad i traded it in for thief DS it's brilliant! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

if you don't take the major bugs, and bad performance in account yes.

(especially with the great modding community (waiting for the tools) and the superb storylinep)

Well, I totally disagree with you..

I've got the game for about a week now, And have been playing it non-stop.
Graphics as you've seen on screens are DAMN great.
Gameplay is DAMN awesome, Missions are HARD any sometimes annoying .. But enjoyable on the other hand...
I've not run into a single glitch yet, Well.. Haven't noticed one..

See for yourself folks, Every review so far is 50-60%, Which is so totally a bit over-the top.
User reviews are the most reliable ones, And those are reaching near 90%.
See for yourself, But the reviews so far are a bit over the top :/

PS: Yes, I lvoe this game.. I've got it on PS2.. Dunno how the glitches are in the xbox version.

it's excellent on xbox (thief ds i mean)the only thing thats up with it is the animation on characters is pretty poor and some occasional framerate issues but these are fairly easily overlooked thanks to the extremely open ended gameplay and the amazing graphics, but NOTHING is perfect though and this is no exception but it's still amazing http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

ok I bought it for xbox. Its a good game, which makes me wonder the same guy who made the vice city review in ign made the review for driv3r and the same guy who made the vice city review in gamespot did the review for driv3r as well. makes u think if Rockstar payed IGN and gamespot to give it low reviews because atari made fun of gta with the Timmy Vermacelli, who wears floating stuff because in vice city tommy can;t swim here is a pic.
