Yeah, I know that Chaos Theory was a great Splinter Cell. Maybe the best in your opinion. But stop comparing every Splinter Cell title to it. Just think about it:
Each Splinter Cell except Chaos Theory had scripted action scenes: Splinter Cell had the Kalinatek roof action scene. Wikes died in that scene. Or the scene in Nikolaze's room where you hacked his computer and the 3 guards came in. Don't forget the end of the oil refinery or the end of the Kola Cell level after you crabebed Masse. Pandora Tomorrow had the end of the submarine or train mission in paris. And of course the basement in Jerusalem! After you took Sadono hostage! In Double Agent you fought Emile at the roof of the building with the bomb and the laser grid. Or where the captain was fully aware of your presence and activates the bombs in the machine room!
Just because Chaos Theory was full stealth at all time doesn't mean it's the franchise's root.
It's about how you can handle the situations. Will you avoid them by taking cover and crawl into the new vent? Or will you fight them? By shooting everybody or fight them non-lethally by using sticky shockers, ring airfoil rounds or close combat? Or will you escape by shooting the light outs or throw a flash or smoke grenade?

Splinter Cell Conviction dind't let you make the choice and was horribly scripted. I mean for example the fist level. All other actions was deactivated until you did was the game told you to do. Or each time you aimed at a important computer or civilian the crosshair turned to a X. And all everything was lethal ... even the god **** sticky cam!

And story sucked big time...

I really hope Blacklist will be as good and flexible as Beland promised in the interview.

But please stop jerking off to Splinter Cell Chaos Theory.

Ehh.. he has a point. The other games have scripted events and so does CT albeit not as blatant -- last mission, Kokobo Shosho, when going down the elevator they hear/see it coming down and cut the power. They don't know it's you but it's still scripted. Kalinatek is similar -- they find Wilkes and you can't stop it but again, you can sneak around. SCC has like...atleast 3-4 scripted moments in every god**** mission and you couldn't sneak through every one. Plus the other games had good, intriguing stories. SCC was sh*t.

I believe SAR is best with CT being a CLOSE(er than ever) second. The first game pulled me in most...the atmosphere was the best...*shrug*

If he was trolling...he had good points.

And it's not that I want SCB to be a remake of SAR or PT or CT...I want it to play the same and have a similar feeling -- so far the story and some elements seems like it MAY be that but the sonar will definitely make it hard to have the same feeling so hopefully we can use NVG instead.

Wait...do yo want people to stop mentioning CT in regards to scripted events.
That's Fine
But not in reference to the ideal SC that's not gonna happen.

CT is KING

P.S. Love the Comic Strip ;)

Saying the story sucked big time means he either didn't play Chaos Theory or is trolling.

I thought he meant Conviction sucked.

See? That's how I read it as...not that CT sucked. Could be wrong though.

Right. The cyberwar in CT was quite interesting. But they said in Conviction it is all about Sam Fishers story and then the story was very disappointing.

I respectfully Disagree.

It is really good though and is sort of a CT 1.5 but it's held back by not having the same level of Polish that CT had.

Ok I am not sure in which of the two existing threads I need to post. So I did it in both threads, lol.

I think we need a comparison. Developers do compare the Splinter Cell games themself to see which things worked, which things can be done better. Since CT actually has almost everything from the first two games and did even improve upon that, people will compare to CT rather then using the first two games. Additionally it's not always CT because there are some specific features CT just doesn't have but it did have a lot and it's package was the biggest one til today. Blacklist may change that and may have even features which people will find first after years.

For example (and I will use CT again here because it first introduced the feature). I was always carrying bodies away. One day I hold the "KO"-button down for a while and by surprise Sam knocked out the enemy and afterwards catch the falling body so he could directly begin to carry him away. I learned about that feature first after a year of playing it the whole time. It was just amazing. Maybe the same will happen in Blacklist, I don't know. Maybe Blacklist will be our next CT?

Hint: You sig may get deleted because it's to big. http://static5.cdn.ubi.com/u/ubiforums/20120113.419/images/smilies/wink.png

Post here. I accidentally created the other one in the Conviction section and then created another here and said they can delete the thread but they moved it in Blacklist. Ignore the other or delete it.

I don't admire this game as it has been polished just what the smuggled innovative gameplay elements.
Chaos Theory is beating on the head in this respect.

Let's see, the game has Splinter Cell in the title. Guess what? That means it's supposed to be part of the series and that means it MUST be compared to previous games, Chaso Theory included.

It will continue to be compared to Chaos Theory and previous games as will ALL games that have the Splinter Cell title. This is why they should have removed the Splinter Cell name from the game and just made it into the shooter it is with new characters.
