Closed Beta Message: Theo Sanders, GRO Producer

First off, I’d like to extend a huge “thank you!” to everyone who played in the most recent closed beta phase, ended last week. Throughout, we’ve been listening carefully and collecting a ton of great feedback about how to make Ghost Recon Online a better game.

While listening is great, I’ve also been incognito – this time on the European server with a recon named “squirk” – experiencing things for myself. I had some really memorable games, but also a couple of frustrating ones (especially around team balance) that really helped illuminate the way forward. Next time around, I’ll jump onto the North American beta server under a different handle.


It’s clear we still have a bunch of work to do addressing balance issues (matchmaking, class, and weapon) and fixing some pesky bugs. But at the same time, I’m also extremely proud of what the dev team here has accomplished so far. More than for anything else, proud that GRO has succeeded to become a game with its own “personality” in a genre where an awful lot of products look alike.

The team here in Singapore is now focused on two big things: improving on what we’ve learned and also delivering some cool new features to keep GRO fresh. But, we’re not ready to talk about the shiny new stuff just yet.

Finally, I want to share a bit about what’s going to happen next. We’re going to take a break from betas for a few weeks to focus 99% of our attention on making GRO better. The other 1% I’ll spend at the pub trying to recover my “gamer self-esteem” after the beatings I took from CU, drop, and FcT players (that I can remember offhand at least) during the past few weeks. I can’t wait to see how the Americans and Canadians stack up! Will I be in for an even rougher ride?

The game plan is that we’ll start up another closed beta in mid-June, with the exact session dates coming in a later update.

For your safety I advise you to avoid the following people while alone: JaXck, DoubleOh, Samtheman, Superhero, Pinkypie, Kegaro, Cortexian, Typhoon, and many others who I've always enjoyed playing with (first 4) and against (last 4). Okay, not always, but once I got my act together I did.

You don't have to worry about me so much, I usually suck without a good fireteam to work with :P :D

I do like how you really are working to make this game one that even competes with it's older brother, Future Soldier.
The graphics are so much more than what I normally expect of a F2P game.
The communication between the devs, GMs, and player community is among one of the best I've seen in a while.
I like the base for each class, was shaky at the begining trying to find one that suited me, but finally settled into the specialist and the l86 SV (my laser scalpel!)

Those said, you have my blessing to go out and dominate the world once this game is released! ;) :cool:

Thanks for updating. This is one of the best F2P game ever. I have played A.V.A for 2 years. But I almost forget it after having a chance to join the Closed Beta session. Wonderful experience, so much tactical! I love this game so much (even there are still some problems needs to be fixed) and already sold the A.V.A account. Waiting for the Open Beta now!!!!:D

I just realized Saturday night after having checked my other account which I rarely use.That I had forgotten about applying for this closed beta, never though I'd get in I guess. So I did activate the key. But before I could download the game,(which I still haven't done), I discovered this Beta is now over. Tell me It's not to let to use this key for the next closed Beta phase. Or am I just dreaming. If not can I reapply for the next phase, Holding my breath.

Don't worry. For as long as you have your Beta Key, you will be able to log in the game once we go live again. Make sure to activate it first and also, please take note that GRO Closed Beta is only available in certain countries. Your location is in North America so that won't be a problem. ;)
