Before you watch this:

1- Try to be calm, maybe restrain yourself to avoid hurting yourself or breaking your PC.
2- Prepare a bag, or be close to the bathroom, in case you wanted to throw up.

You know the worst bit.. im split on if she actually likes the game or if she's liking a paycheque. Either way fine i dont really care, it's just too bad.. but hey, it's one of many advertisments so atleast this little sex hurdle is done with. ... Bloody random to me though.. just made the game goofy. "it's real hardcore"... right.... f*** this thread and that shi*. Was a good laugh though, thanks for that :P

Are you kidding me? No wonder GRUFUS is what it is. How much money is spent on garbage like this, extravagent commercials disguised as a movie, and for Ubisoft to pay financial advisors to tell them what kind of a game to make, when we've been telling them all along.......FOR FREE. FU UBI

I think that Ubisoft is just messing with us because i saw the gameplay video on a Mission early in the game. And I heard all of the voices and they were all men.But if she is part of team ghost im gonna go and drop my copy off of a sky scraper then shoot it so much that the game will break open then run over it with my car then get a lighter and set it on fire.(Yeah thats exactly how mad I am at ubisoft right now).

what sex? I saw a guys jawline, bad boobjob and a fat, untonned arse... and a ton of jiggle on her arms....

fairly disappointed with this.... there are soo many other girls that could have done this soo much better. Just get the girl from sons of guns, get her to say something like I love playing with guns, show her being badass with the guns and then show in game guns....

^ You can be disappointed. Keep in mind, this commercial is not for us. It's for the new (impulse, silly dilly) crowd they are trying to pull in OR just get them to buy the game.

We the forum/hardcore dweller crowd already had our commercials done for us (Inside Ghosts, Believe in Ghosts, Ghost Recon Alpha movie.. etc)

This is the part where they are trying to generate cash from the new crowd. Can't be mad/disappointed at that. They have money to make, and this is how they are doing it.

Our concern is the gameplay itself not how it's marketted imo. It is what it is.

I hope this is just marketing department stupidity and not something the development team gave the green light for. This is something I would expect of Call of Duty, not Ghost Recon. It just undermines everything that they've accomplished.

05-12-2012, 04:47 AM
Oh God..this is a new low IMO...and I thought the 'Nimble Guardian' footage was shizz.

Am I the only one that sees a LACK of a cohesive vision for the game?

There have been multiple articles and interviews on how the devs want to deliver an authentic 'Special Operation Forces' experience, using real Navy SEALs for mocap and as advisors, creating an indepth weapon customisation system etc.

and then you have 'Coco' (No offence to her, she's just doing her job)

You have horridly unrealistic and over-the-top shootout corridors
You have RPG gunners firing at you down a narrow alley
You have APCs being taken out by Frags
You have the enemy firing at you from all direction, purposefully missing so that you can shoot them one-handed in 'Diamond Formation'

NONE of the above adds ANYTHING to the core gameplay experience and only erodes the tactical shooter atmosphere of the game. It Jars the gamer and to be honest is chock full of tired tropes and cliches.

One question: Will exploding choppers and Fuel Air bombs GUARANTEE sales? Is it actually FUN anymore? I can see it being awesome in COD4 when it perfected the cinematic action formula, when a Nuke going off was spectacular...but now? especially in a GR game?

GRFS is fun, exciting and spectacular when 4 operators, scope out camp, call out targets, make a plan and execute it with perfect synchronisation....a Perfect 4 man stealthy takedown (no bodies detected) is a thing of beauty...NOT 'Coco' blowing shizz up.

I think there is probably a HUGE demographic that this commercial does appeal to. She weren't no wimp firing those guns either.
Who are we to claim who is and isn't a legitimate gamer? I can think of loads of reasons Coco might actually really like GRFS...Gunsmith IS the shiz, for example. I'm not doing it in a Bumfloss3000, but I don't do nuthin in one of them.:)

I think we all just have a problem with how she was portrayed. She was sexualized to the point of absurdity. I would not have had a problem with this video if she was dressed normal, and the cinematography wasnt centered around her tits and *** (not that I didnt enjoy the view.). She did seem to know what she was doing when firing those weapons, so maybe some of her interest is legitimate. I just think this video focuses on the wrong subjects (even as desirable as they are).

She seems to favor being a bit of an exhibitionist from what I've seen, so the objectifying is kind of what she likes to do. Boobs and guns, cool, I like both of them. It's an unexpected commercial, but I don't think it's going to change the game at all.
I kind of like it when games I'm interested in, spill over into other arenas.

Wow! It amazes me how far the Tom Clancy games have fallen since the original games on PC back in 1998 (R6) & GR (2001)! I must be getting old... but then again, back in the late 90's & early 2k's we still had bit of class in our society... now it's seems to have all evaporated.

IMO gaming in general seems to be heading for big crash pretty soon (like the one we had in the 80's). Everything feels the same ever since COD entered the picture.

What amazes me is that there are some "guys" that think this "gal" is sexy? Funny thing is that she probably has more modable parts than the guns in the gunsmith customization. If you're going to use a female for this kind of advertising why not have a female with real natural beauty and someone that actually knows something about the military experience, oh and they should be able to have a decent vocabulary?

From my experience with the beta & with this cheesy attempted at promoting the game. I'm definately going to pass... it is blantantly obvious I'm no longer their target audience. ArmA3 can't come soon enough!

I've been gaming since the 80's and I've had a lot of fun with a lot of games, so I know fun in gaming (for myself that is). If you're ok with games having very simular experiences and getting less challenging, by all means...

I on the other had love a game that's hard & challenging. I have lan parties at my house all the time with my friends... we always seem to go back to some of the oldies but goodies, because newer games are flashy on the outside but have no substance at the core. You probably don't have the sliightest clue what I'm talking about, but that ok... eventually you'll get there.

Edit:
Right now I'm having a blast playing ArmA2 with all the add-ons & mods.... Believe it or not, I'm having many different experiences on one game. You want to talk about fun... you should try a mod for ArmA2 call DayZ... talk about challenging! The atmophere of that game is best I've had in a very long time!!!

I currently run 3 xbox live accounts on 3 seperate systems with their own flatties in my house. I was running 3 xbox's in the same house with seperate TV's as far back as 2004, with Rainbow 6. I started gaming in 1980.
Unlike you I don't assume I am the only person on the planet to do this, I think it's actually a lot more common than most might think. Then again, that's probably because I also don't think I am somehow more superior or more educated or more experienced than everyone else. I mean, you'd have to be a bit detached from reality really, to think like that.

As I have gotten older I have lost some interest in gaming in general, there IS a lot of crap out there that I might have messed with a few years back but now don't have the time or tolerance for. Kind of like gamers and forum members that are unreasonable or incapable of displaying the same civility they would in the 'non-anonymous' world. But whatev, the internet and it's anonymity has allowed for mass therapy sessions.
In spite of my more refined roster of franchises/games, gaming in these quality titles has only got better and from the early looks I get, is continuing to do so. Challenge, quality, difficulty is all still available. Elite/old school players who claim the oldies were better and the new era games are weak and made for children, are truly becoming a huge stereotype, they're everywhere bleating out the same pessimistic opinion on games and gaming in general. While there is probably some small truths in that perspective, it's a lot more likely that you and some of that number are just getting too old and pessimistic to enjoy it as much as you used to.
There's not really a problem with that but to hear the constant negativity attached to younger or newer players is just disheartening, like they aren't players of the same worth as the oldschoolers or something. It makes no sense. I wonder how much fun you would have had with Space Invaders if there were a bunch of old worn out grumpy dudes standing around telling you, you and your game and games in general were shiz and it was all going to crap.

It doesn't matter. You're right, I don't understand you.

^^ Agree with this post totally, as the older members of the forum we should provide the example of what good looks like in the way of communicating, and when idiots come along follow the correct protocol to report these users so they can be dealt with effeciently by the forum managers.

The game is out in approx 2 weeks time, no amount of complaining is going to change what the game is now, what we can do though is work together to try and enhance what they have given us, but we will only be able to do this in a constructive manner if members can express their opinions/views without the backlash of being called names.

Oh cool, the reason we no longer have a true Ghost Recon game is so they can appeal to people who don't even play video games. It's all making sense now

Obviously, RSE/Ubisoft's primary goals in creating GR:FS is to attract gamers currently in military FPS. Yes, includes CoD. This specific ad of having a sexy appeal to the game is exactly the same old, same old trick for alcoholic beverages and smokes. Sex sells, which is why many of the men here appeal to their pleasures.

Moving on, not really caring. Having a playboy model onboard for an ad to this game would be another example of appealing gamers. Why do you suppose marriage in the US would eventually turn to divorce?

SolidSage
05-13-2012, 10:07 PM
^ Yes I agree, why shouldn't Ubi try to appeal to ALL types of Gamers. Different folks do gaming differently. Anyone who has spent any significant amount of time playing has surely ran in to the late night early morning crowds, that like to play while they are drinking/smoking/partying. There's actually a nice atmosphere among the crowds that play and have a laugh rather than get all frustrated and overly competetive (nothing against them either, whatever floats your boat).
My woman is a bit serious about her play time so she's not dressing down and distracting me from mine, because it will just shorten her session ;)

About the divorce in America thing...I think divorce is more acceptable in countries where equal opportunity and tolerance are flourishing. We kind of accept the fact that sometimes mistakes are made, and sometimes people change. Nobody should have to suffer in unhappiness and remain commited to a relationship that turned out to be vastly different than what was advertised. That's the thing with marriage, a lot of the time couples really don't know each other that well when they start out. It's only after a few years together that the true personalities are revealed. Then what are you supposed to do when you have to accept the truth that you married into a life that drains the color from your every moment? I think the person who feels that morals demand they stay in that empty life until the end is short changing themselves.

i'm just playing Devil's advocate there, I'm married, (only once) and will be with her till I die as per our vows. I just got lucky in the fact that I found a woman who IS what she seemed to be.

Funnily enough, I think Ice and Coco have been together for quite a while too.

Maybe next time ubi

Or even better, they can pull their head out of their ***, and spend their money on making a great video game instead of spending money hiring this sack of silicone, and making a "movie" (it's a commercial kids).

Ghost Recon is dead.

^ :) Oh man you guys make me lol! How can it be dead when all the evidence contradicts exactly that???

Man, what am I supposed to do when I open the box on release day and find an ashy, decomposed disc in there? I'm gonna flip out...have to call the cops, figure out the cause of death and all that. Bakesalee, you'll probably get fingered as someone involved since you seemed to know it was gonna happen.

-Have fun when you play something you do like instead though, sincerely.

^ I didn't say that, although, for me, yes, it has more appeal or promise right now, than the series ever had before. Six was more my speed back in the early days.
GRFS Beta was good shiz.

Wow... SolidSage & friends, you guys sure put me in my place LOL. Apperently this forum is only for you & the people that agree with you and other should just go away because only your opinions matter.

For the record, it's my opinon (which I'm just as entitled as you are) that games in general have declined in quality. It's seems you don't think so, but I remember a time when games didn't need patching, playing on the internet was free and developers would support their game with free download content. You don't understand because you probably have never gamed in that time frame.

As for my apparent attitude towards the younger generation of gamers... they are the ones that accepted & allowed these things to happen. Also, gaming online with randoms use to be a lot more classy there was a certain mutual respect, you wouldn't have the majority of gamers screaming obscenities into the mic and acting like complete idiots. This might be what you consider fun multilplayer gaming, but I don't and yes I know there's mute button, but adds another hassle.

Yeah, but like you said I'm just an old guy that hates the younger generation of gamers for no reason and I have a dislike for gaming publishers & devs that seem to only want to create one dimensional games for this new generation of gamers.

Flame away, it's seems to be, what you do best.

Wow, where is all that coming from? I offered my OPINION, and now I'm flaming you and putting you in your place?

Look, I'll admit that I inferred you might be a bit of a grumpy old gamer but that was in direct response to your comment about me likely "not getting it, but will eventually". If you're going to come out of the gate all hostile and self righteous, acting like you're the only aged/experienced gamer on the planet, you should expect some retaliation. I'm not going to sit here and lsiten to some geezer who is likely younger than me, tell me how it is and then not say my piece as well. Your comments are not far off the immature dialogue you cite as being part of the downfall of online gaming. I don't know what world you live in, but I've been hearing that junk on the mic since day one. Anonymous online a'holes aint nuthin new, blaming it on the new kids is unfair. Granted, there were good and civil groups too, and there still are. Only now there are more of all of them.
I think you are just falling victim to the whole "back in my day" epidemic that seems to plague those of us getting closer to being grey beards.

I wholeheartedly disagree with you about one dimensional games and the general status of gaming the days in general. Games have never offered more depth and quality experiences IMO. And free online gaming offered significantly less than the alternative. Free is still readily available today though..so that really hasn't changed.

You of course have a right to an opinion, and I respect it enough to try and communicate with you about it. But if all you want to do is point fingers and devolve it into a ****gin match then I will have to excuse myself.

Just try to remember, when you point a finger, the other three are pointing right back at yourself.
And think about all the times when you were younger that some old dude would try to spin tales about how much better everything was in his day, and how the youth of your era was so much less repectful etc etc. C'mon man do you really want to be the guy who just repeats the cycle, blaming the youth that YOU and I were the role models and mentors for, for being a bunch screw ups? If that IS the case, and they ARE such a fail, then YOU and I can only blame ourselves, and our generation, since WE were the youths first to adopt this medium and set the standard.

YOU can still change the environment now, by starting with yourself. A bit of positivity doesn't cost anything. You can state your opinion all the same but it doesn't need to lay the blame at the foot of the youth, like it's somehow the Inheritors fault that the estate has fallen into disrepair (which it hasn't, it's a party man, try to have some fun).

I dunno, maybe I got off track and you weren't blaming anyone, it just kind of sounded that way.

Edit: How can you determine what I do best from reading what, three or four of my posts? It's that kind of ambiguous braod stereotyping or pre-judging that I'm getting at. It's almost like anyone or thing that falls outside of your perspective or concept of how the world SHOULD be, is immediately categorized as an enemy or wrong doer or failure.
I mean I do a lot of stuff well, I'm pretty successful, it kind of hurts my feelings that you label me a "flamer" and that it's what I do best when in truth you know very little about me.
And it's not like you pay any attention to what I have to say anyway, I already told you in my first response that I started gaming in 1980 yet you still make comments about me probably not knowing anything about old school internet connections and stuff.
Can you at least READ what I said BEFORE forming a firm opinion about what stereotype you need to file me away under?
