View Full Version : Team Quiters need to be addressed

Something seriously needs to be done to address the team quitting that is going on. We actually played a match tonight where the entire opposing team quit. The scoreboard did show one guy on the other team, but we never saw him and he could not be located with Oracle. Here are screens from the 2 rounds. It's pretty pathetic that nobody stayed in the match, and what's even worse is that they all decided to quit before a single shot was fired.

We left to get our fourth party member when he logged in, since this game has no function to let him join in on our game, we would have left before the game started, but this game also won't let you leave once it finds a match to start.

Also until they fix the random crashes and disconnects, they better not implement punishment for leaving a game. I get disconnected I'd say on average about every six or so games.

Or they could just make it so if you get disconnected and restart the game fairly quickly you just get placed back in the same match.

If you quit a match: You should be punished and unable to rejoin matches for 5-10 minutes.
If you quit the game/it crashes/you get disconnected: You should be placed back into the same match when you start the game again if that match is still running.

Not being able to rejoin a match for 10 minutes would be stupid. Quit a match should just be no rewards. Why should people that have to take care of real life at an inconvenient gaming-time be penalized for it? Not all of us can sit down and expect zero interruptions when we play.

This kind of stuff happens way to much to us. The second a game starts people read the names of the enemy team, know that team is better but instead of trying to play and learn why they are better, they just quit and restart to find people who are less skilled them they are, so they feel like they are amazing. Punji thats understandable, but something needs to be done to address the age old problem of team quitting... I personally like the idea of losing RP for quitting, take away something a player is trying to earn and I bet the player will think twice about just leaving a match. Also the less RP a player can earn the more likely they are to buy ghost coins.

Big deal they leave you win the round real quick and find a new one. I'm in the military and frequently need to leave games unexpectedly for all kinds of reasons, or sometimes just regular day to day things come up. I don't want to have a day or two of broken up gameplay that result in me losing all my RP because I had to leave a few matches.

All in all it's really not that big of a deal. You just start another game when you win that one... Especially right now while there is no real match making, and occasionally people get put into outrageously unfair games, those are frustrating. I know I don't enjoy sticking around in a game where I'm stuck with 6 level 1-3 recons that haven't wrapped their head around the "push the objective" factor of the game yet, against two fireteams of players that have an IQ above their age. Those games drive me insane, I'd rather just leave and find a slightly more balanced one. I don't mind losing, but I'm not going to waste 20 minutes with a junk team of people who just plain don't get it.

So big deal, the other team wins and we all find new matches to play in. Who cares?

So make it a 5 minute penalty. That way when you get called away you know that you might as well STAY AWAY for 5 minutes before coming back.

Why would you be playing at work/on-call/duty/shift anyway? Unless you're involved in recruiting, public relations, or someone who's kind of a big deal, there's no reason you can't just sit down and play when you're off work.

Currently I'm about 3-4 weeks away from the end of my enlistment and have all sorts of weird scheduling going on. Mostly just sitting around waiting for phone calls from people who can either sign my next piece of paper or let me check out of my next thing around base.

I'm also in Hawaii, which means the GRO hours of op are 12-7pm for me.

I'm just gonna come right out and say it:
You're doing it wrong by playing video games while in HAWAII.

I wish I lived somewhere tropical/semi-tropical.

Anyway, if you get called away for a phone call or to get stuff signed then 5 minutes of not being able to play shouldn't even bother you, or most people who quit for legitimate reasons.

Been here almost five years, the "tropical paradise" feeling wore off a while ago, on top of being tainted by the fact that living out here as a Marine makes you a minority among the locals, who aren't very accepting to us (they tend to view us more as an occupying force than their own military). I've done the island stuff and I enjoy my unhealthy share of video games as well. Ready to move back to Boston anyway.

Waves are fantastic as always, I am a TERRIBLE surfer, but I've watched a few times around pipeline and **** like that.

also on topic:

yeah, a 5 min cool down for bailing on a mission wouldn't be all that bad.

I think we can all agree that being able to add a friend to your fireteam in the middle of a match when the game is looking for players would be beneficial. It would fix a small amount of team quitting, and it would help in filling slots left by those team quitters. I know that I had left 3-4 games last night alone just to join a fire team and play with people I enjoy playing with. I didn't enjoy doing it, I apologized when I did, but I still left the game. Should I be punished for 5 min because I want to play with some homies?!

Yes I agree with this, our team leaves games too when players error out or get disconnected. I think being able to add that person who disconnected back into the game would be great instead of having my Fireteam quit the match too pick the player back up.

This is why the game should just detect a quit vs error/disconnect/failure. If a player quits they should be penalized, if they are disconnected due to an error they should be able to rejoin the same game.

World of Tanks can do this, so I'm 100% sure the functionality is possible.

I think the reason people are quitting your games is not because they are losing but who is on the opposing team. If I join a game and see Pinktaco, lepsi, or some other top players on the opposing team I will leave immediately. Its not fun to play against the top players in the world. Losing is not a big deal whereas being cannon fodder for players with skill far beyond mine is not fun. I suspect when the community is larger this will not be as much of a problem for you.

I don't mind playin against a really good team, really sucks when they 5cap in 3-4 minutes sure but I like to give em a fight even if I end up being the only one on my team with at least 50/50 ratio...Besides pink earns any extra death he gets :p
