I'm just intimidated by the scale of this game. I've pretty much decided not to play it, and get my enjoyment from watching others play. Unfortunately most players who feel comfortable enough with the game to be making videos aren't going to break down the basics of what they're doing, so I'm glad you're doing this series. I may actually have a clue what's going on for once :)

I'm a novice, and I'm learning new things all the time. I didn't even know about what use a bed had, how to even make one, or how to seed for certain biomes until relatively recently! As I go through and discover stuff, I hope others can find their way around and play however they like. That's what I love about Minecraft--there are so many different kinda of play styles that are accommodated.
