I know everyone is limited in the number of weapons they can purchase since we can't use ghost coins yet but what gun do you use and why?
If you have owned more than one primary assault weapon, maybe a comparison would be nice.
I am asking because I am saving up to buy the ACR (long range with bipod) once I reach level 20.

I have been using the M27 D20 (Long barrel) with 30 mag clip, 1.5 zoom, and silencer. I absolutely love this weapon. It has insignificant recoil when using proper cover and fantastic hip fire spread when prone. I have something like lvl 4 (+22)critical damage with this gun. (may be another reason why I love this weapon - a crit gives me somewhere between 50and 75 damage from what i remember). I also use a TR pistol which is a nice low recoil secondary (lots of fun to run around with sometimes - seems more fair to use against lower levels). I also bought the cheapest shotgun just to get an achievement and then sold it. I loved its close to mid range damage, but i hated being outgunned in those long range points so i sold it after i got the needed achievements.

EDIT: I bought the ACR SV soon after this post and have been loving it ever since. This gun is beyond fantastic. With a silencer , vector scope, and 40 mag clip it is a steam rolling machine. As much as I love this low recoil high power weapon it probably needs a slight nerf. (why would I want to nerf my own gun? I don't want it nerfed it is just that good of a weapon)

I like using vss, it has unbelievable rof, quite low recoil and excellent handling not to mention its already silenced. What I don't like though is that it feels a bit too much like a pea shooter, I guess I need to get more of those critical dmg levels until I save up for a new gun. I'm also thinking of buying a shotgun but I'm still not sure.

I either run with my MK16 marksman version or the M1014. For the MK16 you really can only be effective when on cover otherwise the recoil is too high for accurate shots while standing. It's excellent for long range shots on semi-automatic. Up close it's brutal though. I'll take my M1014 when I feel I can get away with it, seeing as it's range is pretty low.

As Val base or cap stock, the vss is... yeah.

I wish the suppressor wasn't so necessary for recoil/muzzle flash :(

At this point, I like the MK16. It's pretty terrible at anything but semi auto, but the range and accuracy of the gun keep me out of shotgun range most of the time, allows me to provide good covering fire for advancing team mates, and really almost rivals a sniper rifle at times. And being an assault bringing up the rear of the party train isn't too bad - you get to mow down a lot of flankers. Looking forward though, In the time it takes a sniper to line up a single 100 damage shot, I can usually get off 3-4 semi auto shots with pretty decent accuracy - each hitting for 35-40 damage - with pretty good chance to crit.

Having said that though, if anyone gets closer than about 1/2 a capture zone, I'm usually in trouble. LMG/SMG/Shotguns all out damage the MK 16 at short/mid range - and the MK16 is really a rather nasty joke the way it bucks around when you shoot too fast - it makes it kind of impossible to use in close quarters unless you get the drop on someone.

That said, the extended ammo clip is a must have because you still go through bullets like a fat kid goes through a pack of smarties. Scopes are hit and miss, I'm using the 1x-4x at the moment - it's probably the best scope for the gun (range) - even though it glitches out a lot when you peek around corners (it shakes back and forth like you're sitting on a paint mixer). I don't know if that's working as intended - as it's really flipping annoying when it happens - but for the way I play, it seems the best. I also slap a muzzle brake on it, though it doesn't seem to do much - I figure it's more useful than a silencer (on an AR lol), or flash suppressor (debatable for my role).

Either way, I think it is the highest damage AR, and when used properly it can down people in a couple shots.

I routinely get smoked with the Mk 16 or one of its variants. Usually the D20.

Powerful gun for a starter^^

I've been using the As Val religiously, until today. PinkTaco's ACR was a pain, so I picked up a MK16 w/ 4x acog, suppressor, laser... Nasty bit of work on semi auto, but recoil is a pain. The As Val was great, a total bullet hose, but doesn't kill quickly enough against LMGs.

i keep switching between my mk16 sv and acr. the mk16 is a little bit better on long range in burst or semi than acr, but the acr feels like a pretty solid alrounder. with reflex open 1x, grip and muzzle break, it's pretty easy to handle (recoil 20) and better vor moving shots than the mk, therefore it lacks a bit of stopping power. both rifles are bad for close range due to low rof, that's why my next gun will be a high-rof ar-21 i think...

SAR21-C with Phantom 1- to 4x.

Very good weapon, for CQB and long range fights.

Finally someone says they have the SAR-21! I literally haven't seen a single person using it. I've been seriously considering buying the C version. So you do like it?

Well, you might want to buy the normal Version. The C one is very good at CQB. Its rate of fire is nealry awesome, and 40 round/mags are much more awesome.

But, when using a mid-range scope, the gun is not accurate enough to do serious damage.

I use the SAR-21 C with a 1.5x assault, extended mag, and a silencer and I love it.

Yep I bought the SAR-21 C last night and it is excellent for close quarters to medium range. Not nearly as accurate as the MK16 at range, but still decent. Overall very happy with it.

Weapon Update: I recently bought the ACR (long barrel - (don't remember variant name)) with extended mags (40), silencer, and attached a Phantom 1x - 4x scope I got. I must say it is a great improvement from my M27 D20. The bipod makes recoil almost nonexistent when using cover or while prone. Also being able to switch between 1x and 4x is great for picking off pesky snipers (recoil is just that low). My only complaint if burst fire mode. I swear I have less recoil in full auto then burst fire. Also I noticed a change in armor. It seems I have a piece of armor that is currently not being sold. All the new assault armors have speed / toughness / health boosts. I'm pretty excited about the speed boost no matter how small. I am going to give it a go once i recover from the bank robbery (My ACR was 17800.... jk completely worth it).
BUG ALERT: ACR (long barrel variant) difference between burst fire and full auto. I would love to post a video of the difference, but my comp is too slow and will record a 5 fps mes. I may be able to get a chance on Monday evening (EST). I think what is happening is that the burst fire mode is not recognizing the bipod or the cover i am in. It could just be me, but I think it is something looking into. Also please don't nerf the ACR (long barrel variant). It took forever to get it and I feel it was well worth the wait.

I like this thread. :)

@daveedojr - I'll poke Draco on Monday to double check the ACR fire modes.

I use the ACR and there is a difference between burst and full auto. Full auto there is little vertical climb but a lot of horizontal spread while burst is the opposite with little horizontal spread but a swift vertical climb. I use full auto when dealing with prone or close targets and burst for standing targets, it works well until i forget to change back.

Been poked in the ribs. Still bleeding from the wound. Might've been a stab, I think. Anyway I had a look at the fire modes and basically the ACR fire modes do not appear to have anything special in the burst mode, however I will do some tests on the weapon in a combat situation to get a better read on the gun. There's only so much one can do pegging a hapless wall on a test map.

One possibility is that the burst mode has the same recoil as the full auto, but it may be a bit harder to compensate for as the burst is a short burp while you can habituate to the full auto's consistent recoil. Just a theory. Scientific testing will commence at an undisclosed test chamber.

I love my VSS but i find it somewhat underpowered at medium to long range, realisticaly this shouldnt be the case but ....
VSS got very nice rof allowing to just suppress ennemy up close, but the downside is that it goes through ammo like a frat girls goes through guys
on a side note it really shouldnt be classified as a AR ....

Thats very possible Draco. Although I rarely use burst, on the occassion I do it is only to save ammo, and try to kill a low health/recon. I will try posting a vid whenever I get a chance.

Sry about ur ribs.

I personally feel that the MK 16 has some kind of weird extra damage multiplier when shooting in semi-automatic... Maybe it's just because I'm placing accurate headshots when firing on Semi instead of Auto? Usually 2-3 shots to the head will kill someone with my MK 16.
