It kills the FPS.

I hope someone, somewhere, somehow, someday fixes it.

ATI people says it's the game and not the ATI drivers.

Who knows?!

All i can say is:

the only driver i can use to play RvS is the 3.2 ATI Catalyst ( 50-85fps Vsync ON)

Cat 3.5 and over: 20-40fps Vsync ON

I have a Radeon 8500 BBA

It sucks but I suggest shutting off any AA you've got going. Until I did that nightvision would crawl at about 10fps when I usually round 90-100fps. Now it's fine for me at least. That's with a 9700Pro

yup, the main reason behind the fps drop is the anti-aliasing. an alternative to turning off AA is dropping the resolution down to 800*600. i found that with the resolution at 800*600, all other settings on high, it was still playable with 6x AA even when night vision is turned on. so it really depends on what you like to have; higher resolutions or AA and no jagged edges.

I have a radeon 9700 pro with the cat 3.6 and i get 80 to 100 fps, even with nigh vision. Im capped at 100 becasue i have vsinc on.

I'm using a 9800 non pro and i'm getting 13fps with night vision and usually between 50-60 without antialiasing on.

try the omega 3.6's (www.omegacorner.com (http://www.omegacorner.com) i think)

some people say it was fixed when they got that

Pentium 4 3.0ghz
Ati Radeon 9700 PRO
512mb PC3500 DDR RAM

OEM Catalyst 3.4

I can sum up the fix for your problem in one word: nVidia!

Muuhahahahaa! nVidia rules! No video problems...ever!

If I stated the number of problems I've had with Nvidia video cards, I'd be here all night.

Anyways, more on topic, I run a 9000 pro with the Omega 3.6 based driver and see no slowdown at all with nightvision.

i have a radeon 9800 pro 128... i dont see much of a slowdown with the nightvision either, infact it even seems to go faster

I seeing everyone who isn't having trouble is using the omega drivers. I think its the catalysts that are screwing the game up.

Adding another 256mb ram will help you alot, ofcourse a new videocard will also, but I would add more ram before upgrading the videocard /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Your statement is a big big lie, I dont know why fanboys speak so much dribble.

I myself am getting mixed feelings about ATIs highend cards and RavenShield, Ill be upgrading from my GF3 around Christmas, and Im thinking it will be an ATI card. As its about 50/50, in terms of good/bad performance, Im inclined to believe that it is a driver problem and not a game problem, as I have been saying all along.

FYI, when I was playing with my Duron600@900, whenever I tried playing @1280*1024, NV, GAS and dying would always give me bad bad fps, to the point where I would get pauses.
