I m considering to buy this game but i see there is a lot of complains about the faulty cable. I ve read that some cables broke after few hours of playing and some didn t even work right after purchase. I love how the game teaches you how to play but if i ll need to pay 30$ for a cable 5 times a month i think i ll just save my money and pass on it. So my question is the cable really that bad?

I've got two cables never a problem with either.
These is a couling in the cable that can come loose.
If that happens all you need to do is reattach it.

No, the cable is perfectly fine as-is. In the unlikely event it doesn't work out of the box, you should be able to return it to the store you bought it for a replacement. Heck, my cable worked fine even after I dropped my guitar and bent the connector almost 90 degrees. For a few days, at least.
The only thing I'll say is that if you plan to Chuck Berry all over your living room, or plan to play at the very limit of the cable length for some reason, then buy a female-female adapter and use a normal guitar cable as an extension to avoid problems due to rough handling. ;)

I've had mine for over 2 months (about 6-10 hrs a week playtime) and not had any problems either. I treat mine like it's made of glass and always coil it instead of bending it - apparently they are easily damaged and there have been a few posts from people that have been carefull and still had problems.

My cable gets left on the floor, stepped on, thrown into a crate, tugged, bent, and in several other ways abused on a daily basis. I've had it since november and it works as flawlessly as it did the day i bought it. I don't recommend allowing any of those things to happen to a cable, but perhaps this will assuage your fears and convince you to immediately go out and buy a copy. it's money well spent :)
and like many have said, cables can be faulty, but most reputable stores will help you out with that should it occur.

almost 90 degrees.
Oh, my! That's up 10 degrees in just the last day or so! lol ;)
The cable isn't particularly delicate... but it is delicate. I haven't had a problem, but I don't really do much with the cable. I don't re-coil it, I don't sit things on it or step on it... you just have to treat it nicely. If you're afraid of that, do what Steel_Nirvana suggested and get a longer cable and an adapter... you could also get a wireless setup (do a search for wireless at the top of the forum), which allows the cable itself to never even move... The point is, these things are all worth it, and even if you do ruin a cable or two here and there, the game is still worth it.

"About 80 degrees" and "almost 90 degrees" are different ways of saying the same thing. I didn't realize I'd need to get a protractor and measure the exact angle to avoid having you throw stupid things in my face from thread to thread.
Uncool.

Wow. It was a joke. Ergo both lol and a winking smiley... Touchy much?
Personally, I think it's pretty uncool to have such an extreme reaction to a joke... but you're clearly the purveyor of cool... so I'll continue to let you make that call.

It is your responsibility not to harass people who ask you to stop. You've made these snide remarks on a couple of occasions outside the context of direct conversation, and I've asked you before to cease. Please do.

Look, what is it with you two? Any time you're both in a thread together this happens. Maybe you two should ignore each other....there is an option for that.

I don't even know what you're talking about. First, it wasn't a snide comment. Yesterday in like 4 threads you said 80. Today, you said 90. I made a joke about it. I didn't care if it was you or anyone else. Furthermore, you've never said or asked that of me in any way or any context.
And if you don't like what I post, ignore me. I'm not going to hold my tongue on ANYTHING I want to say because of how it might impact you. I wasn't going after you here. I haven't personally gone after you anywhere. Nor will I. If that's not good enough, again, there's an ignore feature. Use it.

I'm saying it simply because it repeatedly derails threads, and having to skip page after page of the two of you does get old.

I posted a one line joke about someone minorly changing what they said. I don't even know how that could be construed the way he is. I followed that with a full response to the actual thread. Am I nuts, or is this ridiculous?

The important thing isn't whether or not you thought what you said was funny or innocuous. The important point is that I've asked you more than once not to direct that kind of comment at me. The polite thing to do is simply apologize for the mistake and move on. You don't have any particular right to make jokes at or about people who ask you to stop.

Boy, you are a delicate flower.
And if you'd ever previously asked me to leave you alone, not joke, etc, I would have... Please provide a link to you asking that of me prior to this thread.
Going forward? Don't sweat it. I'll ignore you in future threads... but please... show me where this has been previously asked....
Edit: I don't think that's too much to ask, to provide one example, since there's apparently been a multitude......... except not really.

My cable worked fine when Rocksmith was delivered. At least for 1 hour. Nothing happened with the cable. Just bad luck I guess. I checked the cable and replaced the usb and the guitar cable (see photo). Lot of work for nothing. Seems that the A/D convertor is the problem in my case.

But to be honest, I see only a few posts of faulty cables. The game is sold 680.000 times now. If a large percentage of the cables is bad than there should be many more posts on this forum and internet about it.
I honestly think I just had some bad luck with my cable.
I played the game for 1 hour until the cable stopped working. And I know now: THIS GAME ROCKS!! Well worth the money.
I'm waiting for a new cable now. Takes about a week. :( I live in the Netherlands..

It's also not very nice to call folks names, or to pretend psychoanalyze people for the sole purpose of creating a straw man just to have something to argue about. If you can't find where I've told you before to stop with the snide remarks, then fine--what's the problem, since I've told you here?
I'm not shy. I'm not delicate. I am asking you one last time to lay off with the snide comments in my direction.

Yeah, I didn't think you could come up with one of the myriad examples allegedly out there... but as I said, going forward, I'll just ignore you for the most part if you're that touchy.

Yeah you should definitely buy RS, don't be afraid of a bad cable. Mine has worked fine with no problems after several months. Obviously there is a small percentage of people having cables fail, but it doesn't seem to be a widespread issue...so pull the trigger on the game and hope for the best.

Well if the cable is bad from the git-go, you should know soon enuff.
Just bring the game back to the store for a swap.
As for increasing cable life, don't coil it tightly and when you plug in an end, try and keep the cable part straight.
Also, if you set your guitar down, try not to set it on the cable.

Yeah, I'm guessing it would be easy to set the guitar down and put pressure on the cable at the input. It is on my Ibanez at least. If you do this enough times you could pretty easily knock something loose inside. But this isn't a problem with the cable really, just user abuse. :)

Get a tuner pedal or a digital tuner with an input and output jack. Get a 10 ft USB extension cable. Get a 20 foot decent quality cable. USB extension goes into console , RS cable goes into extension , tuner goes from output to RS cable , 20 foot extension goes from input of tuner to guitar. You are now free to run around the room and your RS cable never moves again in a safe little coild behind your console.

My cable went bad after about 9 hours of game play over 3 days...but the store exchanged it no problems. New one works fine.

I've spent around 111 hours with Rocksmith and I'm still on my original cable. Never had any issues.
My cable is fine and I've been playing the game almost daily since release day. It gets bent and bounced and tossed around etc. etc. just like a cable should.
No problems. Go buy this game!!

I haven't had any cable issues either and I have played every day since probably a week or so after release. I coil it up and put it in a drawer when it's not in use because I've got a couple of dogs that I don't completely trust not to think that it is a new toy for them to play tug-of-war with. :)

My cable is fine. As others have said, try to not stress it too much, and it should be fine. If you get one that's got some sort of defect, it's the exception, not the rule. My advice is to buy it from some place local with a reasonable return/exchange policy. I think I saw the game at either gamestop or best buy this weekend for $50. Open game software can usually be exchanged for the same title. If you get a bad cable, I'd expect it to go bad before too long, hopefully within the return period.
