Is there a way to sample the DLC songs before you buy them?

Thanks

Check out the "Rocksmith DLC" sticky thread by Black Widow. It's got videos of them.

Thanks, I did see that. I was just wondering when I am playing the game and I go to the DLC songs, if there is a way to sample them before I buy one.

Not sure what you mean by sample them? You mean like download it to see if you like playing it? No, not that I've ever heard of. But there are a gazillion YouTube videos people have posted of themselves playing, if you want to see what they look like before buying. Hope that helps.

I guess what I am meaning is a quick 15-30 second sound clip to see if I like the song if I haven't heard the song before.

Then YouTube is probably your best bet, or look them up in iTunes to play the sample. I'm not aware of anything on the console that lets you preview.

Which is an oversight... I still haven't bothered to look up a couple of the songs. Dunno if I would want them or not. Don't really intend to find out. If they want me to buy songs I don't know, I don't expect to have to do an online scavenger hunt to see what they are. And if that's asking too much, then asking for my money for those songs is asking too much. The whole store needs reworked, though.

Yeah, would be nice to have samples in-game, but for me, a 15 second clip isn't enough for a song I've never heard before. I'll still go to youtube to listen to the full thing. I'm in front of a computer all day for work though, so not a big deal for me (especially since I'm a PS3 user, so even if they announce the songs the day of release, I still have a full day at work to listen to them before I can download them.)

Meh, for the price of a cup of coffee, I just buy it unless I know I don't like it, then delete it if it sucks. Like the MegaDeth song pack. I have no idea what I was thinking when I bought that. I have no desire to play MegaDeth songs.

I've also found that some songs I don't much like to listen to are actually fun to play. I almost deleted "I Hate Everything About You" because I don't much like the song and it wasn't much fun to play the first few times through. Then it leveled the rest of he way and I'm actually enjoying it.

YMMV, though. ;)

Edit: tpyo

I use Youtube to audition the songs. I have actually bought almost 50 singles, from Amazon, for RS. I listen to them on the way to the office. I have to, as most of these songs, I have never heard before. There are only 1 or 2 I don't like, the rest have grown on me.

Worst case, wait 1 day after DLC is released, check you tube.
SOMEONE will have posted a video of it by then...lol

yeah would be nice feature to have a sample in the store before you buy it. If I dont know the song, I just goto youtube and check it out.

That might be an issue with the marketplace. I remember thinking the same thing with RB and GH when I played those.

lol, I bought them knowing I'd probably never play them - certainly never past 50 or 60% - life is hard enough. I do feel I've earned my RS customer merit badge though!

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. The RB store has previews...

Also, Funk-n-Stein, the thing is, I'm not really referring to the songs I've never remotely heard before. In that case, yeah, an extended exploration might be needed. But, for instance, I have heard 20th Century Boy before. I know I have. If I'm not mistaken, it was even a pro-mode RB3 song... So, I've even played it. But I couldn't tell you one word from that song, let alone what it sounds like... A short 15 second clip would tell me right away by reminding me what song it is... Additionally, if it's some screaming death metal, that'd be pretty clear from a clip, too... Just seems like a no-brainer to me.

Yeah, I hear you, although for me I WISH I had looked at the Rocksmith chart of 20th Century Boy on youtube before I bought it. It seems to be a very dumbed down version of the song. So from now on, if it's a song I think I know, I want to see the full chart first. Just my personal preference though.
