Guitar & Game Volume

I've been playing for about a week and I have to volume related questions.

First, what volume should my guitar be set at? Right now I've got it at 50%, but that's simply because I had no idea what to set it to. This may fit into issue #2...

Does anyone have any tips on the game's volume? If I turn up the volume to where I can hear the song well, my guitar can be quite loud. I know I can turn that down but the thing that's really killing me is the videos. They are nearly inaudible. I have to turn the sound way up, then when it comes time to play the song/challenge I get blasted if I didn't remember to turn it back down. But there doesn't seem to be a volume slider for the videos. Is that what "Microphone" volume is? That's rather confusing.

I choose the 'honest' setting
Music set for 40-50%
Guitar set for 100%
Crowd at about 60%

That way, if it sounds good, that is me...if it sounds bad..that is also me.

If the music is too high and your guitar too low...how are you going to know
if your doing it right ?

Well, if I were to set an 'honest' setting I'd put the crowd at 0% since there never seems to be a crowd around when I play, and if there was I wouldn't want to hear them complaining anyhow :)

I saw a post in another thread where someone suggested turning the guitar volume down so that you can hear the rhythm of the notes better. sounds like a good idea to me.

I vary the volumes. Somtimes i want to hear ME (gutar volume up) and sometmes I want to feel more a part of the band (gutar volume down).
Kinda makes me chortle as I recall the guitarist vs. front man volume battles I've read about in the various rock star biographies I've read.

That's the nice thing about video games, you can adjust the play style to your current mode or individual style.

ya that was me and i dont do it all the time just when i'm having issues gettin the groove, but i have started playin with a lower vol setting overall cause i found the guitar being so much louder was not a nice mix. i can still tell when i goof, but i can also hear the music better now

The point is that you have the option to turn your guitar up in the mix if you raise the in game volume of the guitar above the music.

I think this is a good tip

i wish they would of included an option in the last patch to play the songs with out having to play or tune the guitar and have it not be scored ,kinda like a juke box mode so we can listen to the song and get a good idea as to whet were about to try to learn

i guess i dont like lowering the on guitar volume cause i fear the lower signal will lead to more missed notes, i'm sure you can volume down a good bit before losing signal, but i'm generaly a very light picker. also my gretsch does not have the hottest pickups as is.
