So this was posted today that ubisoft is shifting all their servers somewhere else so games like Assassins creed and Settlers on the computer wont work anymore.

http://www.destructoid.com/drm-fun-several-legit-ubisoft-games-will-break-next-week-220948.phtml

If my games aren't gonna work i want my money back. I purchased them thought steam and i have proof of purchase. At this point this thread is gonna turn into a total flame and or rant if you don't care leave.

After looking into to my install problem where ubisoft game launcher doesn't install with my game, I found a post with a manual install of it NONE OF THEM WORK.
I kinda snapped
And realized and i'm sorry to say Ubisoft...you suck

Looking around i find so much dirt on how you lie to us, You wont help us, You use frowned upon methods.
http://www.destructoid.com/ubisoft-lied-about-drm-servers-admits-they-were-attacked-166200.phtml

You also make it required for me to have internet connection to play games.
I LIVE ON A MOUNTAIN. Do you have any idea how often my internet drops?
Sometimes it goes of for days. Its not like i'm using some lame local ISP i use Verizon and i'm horridly neglected by them.
Not as bad as you neglect PC user tho. So half the time i can't even play the games i bought from you, Whats the point?!
http://www.destructoid.com/all-ubisoft-pc-games-will-require-an-internet-connection-161615.phtml

Your sorry excuse for an argument is pirates, Its all about the pirates
http://games.slashdot.org/story/11/11/25/1357206/ubisoft-blames-piracy-for-non-release-of-pc-game
http://www.destructoid.com/atari-ubisoft-others-demanding-money-from-pirates-219767.phtml

You act like everyone out there pirates the games published by you so you take extreme methods to prevent it, all this does is hurt paying customers
You seem to think 95% of people steal your games when that's not the cause
In these times most people like me have nothing and you make MILLIONS!
yet you complain about people pirating software, you lose a couple thousand dollar still nothing to your millions.
Sure pirating isn't the right thing to do, But for some people that's all they can do and if they have the money to buy a game but you choose to pirate Shame on you.
Regardless maybe of the rest of your games were worth paying or weren't so expensive they wouldn't be pirated as much.

I never thought i could be so angry with a stupid topic before, My argument isn't even well formulated i'm too upset to even think.
But after all the poop you put us through you don't have much to show for it besides thousand of paying customers in a state of anger and disappointment

http://amplicate.com/hate/ubisoft
http://thebritinsc.blogspot.com/2008/01/ubisoft-sucks-balls.html

Someone may argue if you don't like ubisoft don't buy their games
Well you know what that's what this post was my good bye to a company that hates me and my kind of PC gamer.
simply because of their cut throat ways, Aggressive problem solving methods and blatant lies to us users have driven us away
Have fun losing revenue!

Maybe you get the article wrong, but the games will only be affected during the server transfer. So till the night of Wednesday/Thursday. After the transfer the games will work as usual. This is a scheduled maintenance, so I see no reason to be so furious about it.

Indeed...

The server move, while it will disrupt some games for a day or so, is intended to improve things..

http://static2.cdn.ubi.com/transition/details

Some games are playable in single player mode, however online multiplayer will be affected.

If your game is listed, You will still be able to use your games, once the servers are back up.

Perhaps i did misread that first post, :p
Just disregard it
I apologize for that.

But i still don't like ubisoft.

I bought assassins creed the other day, and every time i install the piece of crap "Ubisoft Game launcher"
to prevent their over hyped pirates wont install.

No where on any of their websites is a public ubisoft game launcher download. either.
So i had to download one of someone else's post on this website and that doesn't work.
installer starts clicked next, agreed, install, and nothing happens

Such a waste of money.
Very disappointed.

This sounds either like a problem of missing rights on your computer (you are logged-in as an administrator?) or of antivirus software blocking the installation routine.

Considering how often they go down, I wouldn't be surprised if you and the Ubi servers were mountain-neighbors.

I'm taking this opportunity to let you guys at Ubisoft know that I will never buy another Ubisoft product again.

This DRM system of requiring online access to play only hurts paying customers.
Pirates get a better product.

Until you address these 2 simple facts (which you seem to conveniently ignore when they are brought up), you will continue to alienate customers.

For the record I write software for a living. I'm well aware of the issues and your stance is not backed up by any data anywhere. It's business people that don't understand the user base or how software works making these ridiculous decisions. The "benefits" of a UPlay account don't mean anything to users. You can't dress up the DRM system with bonus "features" that add literally no value to the product.

Anyway, you've lost a customer permanently until you change your ways. I will advertise this stance to all people that I know.

Pirates get a better product.

Exactly. UBI's harsh DRM doesn't curb piracy - it encourages it! Why should I pay for a product when the people stealing it are getting a more playable game?
Sure, they don't have access to the "Online only" content, they just get the crippled "Offline Play" option, but that's all I get most of the time too.
Moving to a different data center is not going to solve the crux of the problem, which is that your DRM is consumer hostile.
I spend roughly $2000/yr on games, and Ubi will not see another penny of that until they stop with the hostile DRM.

I might feel differently IF the DRM did actually prevent piracy, but clearly it doesn't. A quick scan of my local torrent tracker shows every Ubi game available for download - so all the UBI DRM is doing is harming their customers. No business in their right mind could think that's a good idea.

I feel you there. I bought this game the weekend before last and I can't tell you how many times I've had messages about being unable to connect to the server. So all you get are the offline options and you can't even play the world event. It's quite a lousy treatment for paying customers to get as broken of a game as those who pirated it. I already convinced one of my friends not to buy the game, that's not the desired outcome of a gaming company.

The point is why the f should I care about servers when I bought a single play game. What happened to the gold standard, Starcraft, Quake, Hal-Life! Bunch of crooks running Ubisoft. Saddening, it makes no sense..............you suck Ubisoft! Can't wait for your next epic mistake, good luck!

It's not even online games. He has all rights to be furious. You on other hand are stuck with thumb in the *** and fine being shat on while. Thats the whole issue here, ignorant people getting used to be liberated from freedom itself slowly, accepting over-zelous DRM, accepting being unable to acces what you pay for, not out of convenience or technical issues, but of a company that ignores the customers to counter piracy..

Scheduled maintenance, when someone schendule maintenance on YOUR pc other than you.. making it / portions of it inaccessible?
If you're american i can certainly see your acceptance to this since you're already bumra*** and brainwashed by the Corporate Government, but the rest of the world still pretty much enjoy our freedom, and rights along with those americans that still havent surrendered and lost thair individualism and sense.

Hi SkaffaMike (http://forums.ubi.com/member.php/1257715-SkaffaMike), this is probably because of the migration http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/658453-Important-Announcement-Server-Downtime-amp-List-of-Games-Effected

I'm having the same issue where I can't even play offline. I click the b u t t o n to play in offline mode, but when the game loads, it still asks me to sign in with no prompt to send me into an offline version of the game. I can sign in, create an account or exit the game. That's all.

The problem here isn't the server migration, but rather the false advertisement of the system requirements for the game. I puchased this game through Steam and under the heading System Requirements, in the subsection Internet Connection it states "Temporary broadband connection for product registration, permanent broadband connection for multiplayer."

I have already registered my product, and I don't care about playing in multiplayer at the moment. I want to play a single player game, which is not listed as requiring an internet connection. This game should either be playable in offline mode without consumers having to sign in to anything, or there should be a more accurate display of the system requirements. Had I known I couldn't actually play the single player version of his game offline, I would have never purchased it.

It really seems like the paying customer is getting punished by Ubisoft's insane anti-piracy policies while the people who did the illegal thing are able to enjoy their game whenever they wish. It's not fair for the customers to be treated like the criminals.

Word, I don't hate them for taking a stand against piracy, I Hate them because of they way they do it.
But if they supported SOPA i would hate them with a un-dieing passion.

Hi, just wondering where you have seen this as the Steam page for Settlers 7 says;

A PERMANENT INTERNET CONNECTION AND CREATION OF A UBISOFT ACCOUNT ARE REQUIRED TO PLAY THIS VIDEO GAME AT ALL TIMES AND TO UNLOCK EXCLUSIVE CONTENT.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/901436/?snr=1_7_suggest__13

So does our FAQ http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13386/related/1

If you are talking about Anno 2070, then just enter your account info in the start screen. This is just like log-in to your windows account. If you don ot have an internet connection the game will start offline, if you have a connection you will connect to the server.

Ah, I see thank you very much! I had at one point thought of buying your games on Steam seeing as a friend that uses it extensively said that your DRM was absent from Steam well now I can stay away from both. That was a close one.

So, WHY can't Ubi$soft just deactivate their annoying Ubi-Bug-Launcher for he time their Server-Maintnance is running?!
Whats so difficult about it?

Whats with the STEAM-GAMES, that are already bound to a account?!

I would think, this is a littlebit of a a***ole bahavior.

We PAYD for their rpoduct, it is already bound to an account but Ubi still insists to puke into our bandwith!

It would be just fair and most other Companies would do that - let us play & have fun with your legally bought (!) games, deactivate your **** Ubi-not-launcher while you make your Server-thingies.

But there is nearly NO input from Ubi himself here, questions are beeing redirected to forums or pretty much useless "port-forwarding" (especially now, where it is clear, that it's Ubis fault!) and no clear answer.

And, dear Ubi-Team: Posting your "Server-News" on the small Topic at your "Support" and "news-Center" is like

"But the plans were on display ..."

"On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them."

"That's the display department."

"With a flashlight."

"Ah, well the lights had probably gone."

"So had the stairs."

"But look, you found the notice didn't you?"

"Yes," said Arthur, "yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'."

so.
LAST TIME I BOUGHT YOUR GAMES!
Convince me!
