View Full Version : I expected better

I got out of a game of Wanted a little while ago, with 6 50s and a 30, and throughout that match, if I wasn't getting shot, or being aimed at, I was being rushed. Not one death was over 600 points. I expected more from 50s, I mean, there was no chase, no thrill. I don't condemn them, but still, I expected a little better.

Level/Prestige means nothing except the fact that they play a lot.

True, but I still expected a little better

Treat it as you would a grandmaster "Meh, they have TV, Gun, and Charge" and just see how they play. :P

Some level 50's and prestiged guys are actually great players. Some of them however don't really fit that criteria. That's why I like mixed lobbies, being some level 50's and some other levels. I did come across full lobbies with level 50's that i felt were great lobbies, only to find the next would be totally different.

I guess with ACR it's not like you often see with other games where higher levels actually mean more difficult adviseraries.

Don't judge someone by there rank alone. Theres a rank 22 prestige I run into from time to time, who is probably higher by now but that's what he was when I last faced him, that I almost always defeat. I'm only halfway through prestige 7. Check their stats. It'll tell you more about them than their rank ever will.

There isn't really a bar upon which people can be reliably judged. People test different sets, decide to mess around and use a gun for the whole game or perhaps are just completing challenges.
Even checking their profile stats won't give much of a clue as to how good they are simply because it all depends on the gamemode they play most often and the style of play they adopt.

there are really good players out there who arnt prestige or level 50 its only a measure of how often they play not how well

I got tired of this also

My solution?

Use fast reloading gun with Smoke bombs and Every time you get angry at some noob who just shot you Use your gun on that guy EVerysingle time your reloaded and taunt.

Then you win the Butthurt war. Whenever some one gets me mad because of Lag or some other bs i just use a bullet on that one guy every time Rofl.

I mostly do it by prestige/ time played.

Win ratio is also a good one.

However the thing i find annoying is that prestige/timeplayed can easily be higher With a gppd assassinate player.

I still believe win ration os the best to go by.

And how on Earth are people supposed to fix that lag? It's not like they can help it ACR's matchmaking system puts people into lobbies with people on the other side of the globe.

You will also find trolling people like that all the time will eventually work against you. I have been in lobbies where most (if not all) players would hunt down trolls.

Like in any game, these levels are just a representation of how much you've played and not how good you are. I understand the thinking that increased experience would lead to better play, but for some strange reason there are these challenges that create alternate goals other than winning. When I see "high-level" people sprinting around the whole time, using the gun and getting 17 kills for 3000 points, sitting on the roof the entire time, standing still next to obvious tripwire bombs the whole match, etc. I just assume they're going for specific challenges and/or titles.

Also it doesn't really tell people what your regular game mode is.

I suck at assassinate, i also haven't played too much steal the artifact, but I'm pretty good at deathmatch. If I go into an assassinate match I'll be struggling to stay in the top 3 ranks of the game, if i go into steal the artifact I'll wander around not being aware of all the common strategies used in that game mode....

I have however been playing a great deal of deathmach and artifact assault.... Most of my time is spent there and I almost always finish those games in first place.

Mario Kart Wii
Modnation Racers

To name a few off the top of my head. Both have ranking systems that fluctuate up or down based on each multiplayer game performance.

Uhm...

Battlefield 2
Battlefield 3

I'm actually playing such games since 1999 (Rogue Spear - those were the days) and came across many people with very high levels who were quite skilled. Skill being experience (not rushing in, but planning things), knowing how the game works, being in control during difficult situations etc. I think maybe my perception of skill differs from yours. I guess that's because i played online with military guys and such, they approach games differently :)

I think high level players who constantly go for 100 point kills are annoying, but at the same time, imagine how long they had to play in order to get that level with low scoring kills only! Hilarious.

This sounds like how I play assassinate, although change "Use gun to troll" to "Use gun for first blood, and other rare bonuses, also if you see someone above you, just show him how dangerous it is to stand above you". :P

I see this in lobbies on occasion too. Was having a good night for scoring in Wanted, then joined a new lobby after a short break. Couldn't get much past 5k. I think a ton of it has to do with the general attitude and flow of the lobbies. Some you get in are just filled with runners, chasers, shooters, etc. and no matter what you do, you just can't get a decent match.
Before most matches I try to check out most everyone's profile, and if you have less than a 35-40% win ratio, I'm not worried at all. I see prestige of all kinds of levels with terribad win ratio's. Saw a prestige 8 the other night with a 9% win ratio. Othertime's I'll see a level 48 with a 75% win ratio. I think KDR's can be telling too. If I see someone's KDR is >1.3 or more and they average >5 stuns per match, definately have to play them differently.

I rate players the same way. Prestige means jack in this game, except you have too much time on your hands (myself) or you boost (damn you all to hell). KPR and SPR are also a main concern. If I drop into an assassinate match and see prestige 13 (weeks ago), I would look at their kills/stuns per round and know if they are mode specific. My win % is around 61%, but you have to consider being dropped in with 3 or less minutes to wreck up the place and the fact that some players aren't mode specific or do challenges. I do rage quit...often...if I am dropped in later than 3 minutes because of my win %, so if you've seen me drop...yeah, I'm that guy...STA is different...need to keep that damn thing at the end...

dude, you shot me on galata the other day a bit after we had the dino dance. I kinda laughed when you shot me :D. It was a pretty brutal lobby.

Was fun playing against you though. Your firecrackers got me a few times too many on Mt. St.Michel... Too bad I got disconnected from the lobby. I was ready for more battle ;)

lol same here, I am terriblle at Assassinate, always have been, I'm old, my fingers are gnarled and cracked with age and my brain is addled and too slow from repeated recreational fun-time, so my quick timings and trigger dancing speed is a fraction of many of you more youthful types. When I pop into Assassinate for some cheap thrills I must look like a prestigious fool at 50.

Steal the Artifact and Escort I also haven't a clue what I'm doing, I wander around those matches like some over-drunk half-wit, everyone dashing around me with purpose and I have no clue what to do.

Having said all that I'm only half good at the modes I do play a lot of (Deathmatch, Wanted, Artifact Assault).

Being grade 50 means only that you've played a lot and in certain modes, so just enjoy whoever you're thrown in with.

Lol, that was you? I just saw someone doing the Dino and couldn't resist joining. I HATE Galata, HATE that map. Worst map in the game for me. So I almost always switch to a gun profile there. Helps me get the 5-streak challenge done too. I shot someone the other night on Galata, 1600 points. That's right, a 1600 point gun kill...Kill(100), Mid-air(100), Extreme variety (600), x2= 1600.
I've been working on the stupid firecracker challenge, so that's why those worthless things were getting spammed on ya.

I will honestly say I will be the Prestige (enter # here) person that you will see running, barging, knifing, and shooting. Why? Because I'm either in a party/lobby with friends, or everyone else is being brash as well. You can't take Prestige seriously, or even levels, people do things for different reasons, whether their friend is in a match, you pissed them off or their trying to complete challenges. I've had so many people message me saying 'Stop spamming FC *whine whine* " well honestly, if that's what gets me first place, by blinding my pursuers and targets, so be it :3 Sometimes I just don't take the game seriously, I'll pull out a gun in a heartbeat if you just looked at me wrong and you're my next target XP You can't expect better of others, you have to expect better of yourself and walk away with what you can :3

Theres a difference between experience and skill.
Just because someone has played the game for longer doesn't mean they're better at it.
