View Full Version : Talking about Ghost Recon Online

I am getting a little restless about Ghost Recon Online. It keep's saying I am in the beta queue for months now. They say that they will contact me. Its been months since I signed up. Nothing. And I don't want to ask for a Beta code that's just selfish and rude. But you can take so much of the wait really. I decided to watch the announced trailer (The first few trailers what I mean.) and just listening to the music and watching some of the game play again. And judging from what I see. Its going to be like Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter but a lot more advance and polished since even though I liked GRAW there where some problems. Such as stiff animation. When you see Scott reload, you see the animation going. But the magazine is still there. hopefully Ubisoft fixed some animation issues what GRAW had suffered. But another thing is. After even more inspection of the trailer and some game play footage from E3, It is like GRAW but with a mixture of elements of Future Soldier. Pretty much taking something that works, Improve it and reintegrated in another game. The cover system looks great and will definitely will come in handy. Having the space button to press against yourself a wall and stay there is a much needed welcome. Since GRAW having the cover system is a good idea but it had some what of a flaw tough. I had to press against the wall to stay in cover. While it is a good idea but sometimes I had an issue with it.

Now I may not be sure if there is a sprint button or not. But that would be great to move out of danger quickly and into cover since in GRAW it takes me a bit to run as fast as I can to the other side of the map and I am still taking damage until the character picks up the momentum to run. By the time I get to cover, I am already near death and limping, Or taken half of my life away. In a rare occasion. Instant death. Now I have some questions for Ubisoft involving some of key elements for Ghost Recon Online. Since I got nothing else better to do then wait. And occasional drawing.

Questions:

1. This involves all the classes in the game. If one where to run out of ammo in combat. do you have to find the nearest ammo stack to restock ammo? Or can a Specialist supply ammo for you?

2. Can the Sniper cloak there team mates within the vicinity of there own Sniper? Or just that class can cloak themselves only?

3. Will there be a game pad option for those who are not skilled with PC gaming?

4. How many game modes will there be from the start of the release? I hope more then enough since most free to play games I have played before barely have anything to offer and it takes them notoriously long to release something.

5. Will the pricing of each item be fair? Such as head gear wont be up to 800 credit or so since Battlefield Play4Free there weapons and Gears choices are overly priced that it would take me at least 8 matches to afford one thing and by the time I would have more then enough credit to buy myself something new. My weapon expires.

6. Will the serves be playable? Another example how Battlefield Play4Free does not fair well is the servers. There Horrible, A game such as Battlefield Play4Free doesn't take so much power away from your computer yet the servers lag so much it becomes unplayable and down right frustrating for those who are serious about there gaming.

7. Will there be some sort of patch work for those who cannot play the current one? Such as for those who don't have Dual Core power? those who have Single Core 1 gig processor or higher?

8. Can you choose your squad mates to play with? What I mean is you take your friends in one session and fill in the blank spots that are empty to have an equal bearing?

9. How many players will there be total?

10. I am not sure if this one counts as a question but who will be doing the soundtrack? Will tom Salta compose the soundtrack like he had done for GRAW and HAWX? Or is it another composer?

I have taken the liberty to post questions here since most if not a good majority of the time I have been here waiting patiently for news about GRO, I seen people ask for Beta keys. And I know Ubisoft wants questions for there products and a bit of constructive criticism. Here is your chance now Ubi. I am tired of people complain about something there not getting. And I do have to admit that I am getting a bit impatient but might as well take the time to discuss it here with you people about GRO. So lets talk.

I changed my mind. Ill continue on supporting. I am having a hard time with other thing's.

I'd also like to know what is the target release date for this game now? I appreciate the desire to make a great game, and I fully support the dev team spending some extra time making it great, at the same time I'd appreciate more info on progress/release date. The game was suppose to ship last fall, and there was never even an announcement telling players that it was delayed.

Actually the game wasn't meant to be released last fall. It was still in the beta testing phase. Although the extra information I do have to agree but the only update so far on Ghost Recon Online web page is new artwork. Which to be fair I like artwork and I like to draw. But. At least it would be greatly appreciate if there is more information and more frequent updates such as new equipment or updates about new maps or scheduled keys are coming out. There's barely any information and the only info I got so far is the system requirements which is fine. I fit the system requirements., Almost. but I hope I can still play even on the lowest settings. I don't care about graphics as long there is a competitive game play with other players. But a release date would be greatly appreciated or at least the open beta phase date, It is extremely difficult to talk about something where there is barely any information.

When UBI announced GRO they said it would be releasing in Fall 2011. Ubi's Canadian website even said it's status was "Released" late last year.

Indeed it is. Just wish Ubisoft would actually give us an update more often. Because sitting here in the dark not knowing what to talk about or to look forward to makes it hard to bring up something.

Yeah i agree. Some people that wanted to test stopped testing it and moved to other games like BF3 or CODMW3. People that want to test and give feedback can't play because we don't got any key to do it. I can only hope that i'm included in the next key wave. ^^

I would gladly give feed back. To be honest. I don't really much care for Battlefield or Call of Duty. I am sick and tired of First Person Shooter. There fun and all. but there generally the same. I am eagerly waiting to participate the Beta. And I really hope I am also included in the wave as well. Does anyone have any idea when is the next Wave of the Beta key's?

Hi bishophawx1!

We're really glad you're actively anticipating Ghost Recon Online. We'll make sure not to disappoint you once you've finally accessed the game. I'll be back with answers on the questions you posted. Some of them may even be featured in our Q&As so keep posted.

Hey all,

We have few more beta phases happening so keep on checking your inbox because you may be one of those who'll get an invitation. Unfortunately, because we're still in Closed Beta, not everyone will be testers. It really depends on the requirements of development. If we need more gamers for a certain feature to be tested, we release more keys. But rest assured that GRO will definitely be open to everybody soon.

Fantastic. Glad to hear that. Really looking forward to it. I was beginning to think that no one cares about this anymore since there's barely any talk about it. So I taken the liberty upon myself to contribute here. If no one is willingly going to step up and ask, Someone has got to do it.

Being a big fan of fps, have been playing BF4Free, combat arms, fallen legions and tribes to name a few.

The closed beta on Ghost that is on at the moment is way below standard. The graphics are very sub standard and the game lags dreadfully no matter what setting the mouse speed is on. I played a game earlier and left during the second match as it was pointless in playing on due to the lag.

On all of the other games bar tribes everything was top notch so I doubt it is my computer.

I point blank refuse to go back to Battlefield after the uproar with EA and Easy basically robbing many gamer of cash due to the legacy weaponry but that's another story and if you want to know about it check out their own forums. I was hoping that this game would give a better gaming experience.

On the whole it looks good and I am sure Ubisoft will iron out all of the glitches. One thing I would add towards the producers of this game is, do not go down the route of EA where lifetime purchases of legacy equipment is pulled after a couple of weeks.

If this game can match the game play of Fallen Legions this will be an absolute winner but a lot of work needs doing.

I would have posted in the closed beta forum but cannot get access.

Well yes obviously its going to be below standard since it is a "Beta". And the game isn't even out yet. There still doing testing. We will have to see until the game fully goes to the public. But at the same time it also depends on your system requirements. As well I don't much care for Graphics. What I see in the trailer is good enough for me. But I haven't heard any uproar at all. Then again I am taking a break with FPS games. Getting WAY too generic. Ill have to see Fallen Legions for myself. Since I never heard of it.

Bishophawx1 this is the whole point of beta testing to iron out glitches and give feed back to the company on the experience. "Yes obviously" it will be below standard but at this stage of testing should be far better. Graphics I can cope with, it is the server lag that is the main issue. If you can hardly move or turn there is no point in playing but since it is a closed beta test, i will be back on again and will give a critique of that experience.

Your telling me something that I already know. And I know the point of Beta Testing since I have done it before. Such as BF3. There where no official Servers yet and BF3 lagged to hell despite having good internet and no one was around me downloading or watching anything. But I failed to see the point in the graphics quality while the game hasn't even come out yet. What your saying sounds like what there doing is Stress testing the Servers. Since there's a lot of reports from other people saying that they cannot find a server. Others are saying they can play with out flaws and there having the time of there lives playing. But like Battlefield Play4Free the servers where EXTREMELY bad and it render all the stages horrible. But as time passes they fix the servers. Just give it time. I have done Beta testing more then enough to know what to expect. But I don't know if its the distance since here a lot of people saying they experience no lag. Maybe its affected by Regions. But we will have to see.

I tested Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield Play 4 Free, was testing Blacklight, Hedone and Tribes Ascend.
All of them have problems be it in closed beta or open beta, hell even full released games have them.
Graphics aren't anything if the gameplay is bad. (CS 1.6 is still played for example)
The game must be a balance of graphic appeal and gameplay appeal, because some hardcore players (that compete etc...) just turn down the graphics to get every FPS they can, to increase performance, because they want to have the upper hand against the enemy.
