Theres only a couple of ways to get around this problem.

1)If your pc has an ethernet port on it you should be able to set up ICS, just plug your ps2 into the ethernet socket and let windows network configuration do the work. This disadvantage of this is that you will need to have your pc switched on to play. If you dont have an ethernet socket on the back of your pc you will have to buy a card and have it installed.

2) Buy a router that lets you connect both usb and ethernet cables (dont know if such a thing exists). Register your ps2 mac adress with your isp and then away you go.

Im pretty sure that a wireless router will work, however you will need to check with sony to see which make/model they recomend as compatible.

check your router manual, but all you have to do is set your "home" network with fixed ip adresses and set your PS2 in the DMZ of your router.
For most online routers there are pages on the internet explaining how to do it. More, if you go to any Fifa 2004 forum you'll find the awser to the question in may places.
BTW, DMZ means "Demilitarized Zone", in other words, not protected by firewalls and that kind of stuuf. That usally means that the computer, or in this case, the PS2 is "exposed" directly to the internet.

hi,

usb modems used to be supported eg Tony Hawks, but I think all games now have to use the adaptor. That is part of Sony QA.

The game checks what is being used so I think you will have to buy one. It works fine with a wireless bridge.
cheers

You dont have to creat a DMZ for this game, all DMZ configurations are potentially dangerous.

Alternativly you can open the following ports on a router 10070-10080 and port number 6667 (page three of the manual), if you have ICS and use a firewall you will have to make the above ports available as well, refer to your firewall instrucion documents for information on how to do this.
