I currently have my PS3 hooked up to my 50" Plasma by HDMI and then I have the audio fed by optical cable directly into my speaker bar sound system. Of course the directions that came with the disc did not address the use of an optical cable.

I played for about an hour last night and 30 minutes this morning...I didn't notice any lag, but then again I was still trying to figure out what to do and where to lace my fingers...

Has anyone tried this set up and seen any noticable lag?

I'm using optical audio on my 360 with no noticeable lag.

Yeah, for sure. I have a PS3 and use HDMI to connect video to TV and Digital Audio to connect to my sound system.

It took me quite a while (around an hour) to get RS dialed in from a lag standpoint. It was basically an exercise in trial & error.

If I had to do it again, I'd start with a relatively easy song that you can play chords (House of Rising Sun maybe) and make sure the chord image hits the fretboard image when the chord is heard. If you hear the chord before it hits the fretboard, then you need to speed up the graphics (i.e. increase the lag number in setup). You'll have to continue tweeking the setting until you feel its right.

FWIW, my setting is 138

Edit: Adding that based on my experience setting this up, I feel it would have been nice for the devs to include a latency configurator with this game. A simple soundtrack and chord progression (or single notes) that autotuned (real nice) or allowed for manual configuring of the setting would be welcomed. Just my .02.

I use HDMI for my video source and the composite cable that came with my PS3 as the audio source.

My amp, a Sony STR-DN1000 has the ability to re-assign signals to other inputs. I programmed the (Video 1) input to use my HDMI video source and the composite audio source.

I don't notice any lag.

I am pretty sure the Optical Digital lag is dependant on your stereo's processor. Mine is VERY dated and therefore the weak link in the chain. I am not surprised there is lag introduced there.

I have my HDMI from the 360 directly into the TV and optical cable to my Yahmaha receiver and don't get lag with the default settings. Although, after I play a song and it has the replay my guitar is noticeably delayed to the song playing even though it sounds dead nuts when I play it.
