I've been having a big problem installing 1946 from DVD. During installation, I keep getting the following message:
Error 1305. Error reading from File C:\program files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\FB_3Do11.SFS . Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.
If i click on retry, it will progress a little further and then pop again, this happens all way to 100%, where it seems to stop progressing to the "insert disk2" step.
I'm using a lite-on dvdrw SOHW-812S That I updated the firmware on. Is this a DVD player issue or a bad disk issue?

Have you tried running the application called a?
If this dosent work, copy the contents of the DVD (select all/copy) to a new folder, and run a from there. Good luck.

Yes, I've run it from auto start, and from A.exe, with same results. It's going thru the install process, but is hanging up apparently.

Well as an update to this problem , I have tried installing using a different dvd player, and still get this error. When i had tried to copy the file contents to the hard drive, I received a read error on one of the cab files. I sent a message to coustomer service to try and return the dvd for an exchange or refund.

You may find a work around.
Some people have major problems.
Some people have minor problems.
And still others, like myself, have little, or no problems at all.

Well no prpgress made with this problem. I did contact Customer service about possibility of a bad/damaged disk. Received the riot act about not being able to return an opened product and that I should contact Tech support.
After reading here of the problems of being juggled back and forth between the two, I ended up just paying for the download version and now have that installed and running fine. Guessing I'm just out the original purchase price of the DVD.
I appreciate the help and suggestions though.

That sucks that you had to basically buy two copies just to get one that works. That's really poor customer support.
