Hey, Sierra is advertising their upcoming game, SWAT Global Strike Team.... Ok, correct me if I'm wrong, but SWAT teams are local teams, and do not even involve themselves in out of state situations, and most of the times they don't even leave their city unless the jurisdictions around them do not have their own SWAT team. So having them travel the globe is not only inaccurate, and crazy, but STUPID as well.

What do you guys think??

Yeah, inaccurate, crazy, and STUPID describe it fairly well.

I think Sierra should stop trying so hard with SWAT, just make a sinple, realistic SWAT shooter, even if it's less explosions and stuff, it'll be better than this crap.

SWAT: GST doesn't look two different from RS3 on the xbox. The graphics are terrible, the characters are more polygonal than a legos toys. If we have to choose between SWAT: GST and RS3(xbox), we all know which one we would chose/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif .

Yes, I would choose Operation Flashpoint. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

This probably is a stupid question, but is the SWAT movie lisenced on the SWAT video game?

Both SWAT:GST and the upcoming movie are based on the idea of dumbing those well-trained and experienced tacticians down to run-and-gun rambos.

What happened to "SWAT:Urban justice"?

OFP is still the best tactical shooter IMO. Aircrafts/Tanks are arcade like but the infantry part of the game is great. OFP simulates bullet travel time, bullet drop and you have total freedom, no invisible walls like in most other games. And even if the vehicles are not simulated very do they add a lot to the atmosphere of the game.
No game has come close to OFP yet. The game is also the base for a training tool (VBS1) used by USMC, that says a lot.

Well, Global Strike is targeted for the Consoles and Urban Justice for the PC.

And I totally agree. I was only commenting about the armor and aircraft parts. It is a great, if not the best, tactical shooter... ever.

i somewhat agree and disagree. in my opinion, SWAT 3 was actually quite good. it had its few downsides but IMO the AI was pretty decent(BUT SLOW moving... atleast they didnt just "stop". they did what you told them to do)

i for one, am keeping a little optimistic about UJ, even though it looks like another Rambo series

Hey Fly, perhaps they'll fix the armor and aircraft in OFP 2. Then that would be awesome, wouldn't it? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Impossible. You want multiple aircraft and armored units modeled accurately, and they still have to make a new inf sim on top of that? Ha, yeah right. And why should they bother? It's not like it would increase sales...

Well the con. one is too arcadish for me. Its a "for-hire" "global" "SWAT" team of 3 specilists, sniper, electrition, and some other guy. This is it. Yea, sounds bad, really bad.

electrician?? HAHAHAHA, another game that thinks a SWAT raid is so slow and collective that there will be enough time to stop and fiddle with wires. LMAO. Please, they go in at dawn, when everyone is sleeping, and within a few short minutes, it's all over.

you've never played the Swat 3 haven't you?

The only reason it didn't blow R6 out of the water is its FPS rate was 30-50 and it wasn't multiplayer.
Great Game, AI was VERY good, and it had a similar ret. system to GR.

I don't think armor is going to be a big issue in OFP 2. Doesn't the sequal take place in vietnam? The only armor your wearing is a flack jacket.

We were talking about armored vehicles, not body armor.
