The beta test registration have been very successful up to now, and there are a few hours left if you're still not registered : we will close this phase tomorrow !

The lucky ones will receive a mail during the next week. But you will still have a chance to participate later, even if you are not included in the first batch of testers ! We will include more people with each update of the beta test version.

To answer all questions on the beta test, a chat will be held at the end of next week, on thursday 15th, 18:00 CET
The chat will take place on our IRC servers:

I am sure that there will be more chats in the future. The fact that Ubi has chosen IRC as their preferred medium for chat is a good thing (tm). IRC is teh fastest, best, and most efficient way of live chat. Better than game-specific chat like GameSpy or Zone, Battle.net, etc.

You can get everything you need to play a game with IRC too! This is great!

It's a little late to ask for it, but just a remark: maybe we should have all gotten a confirmation mail after the registration, to be sure we've filled all our information correctly. A tiny mistake of sb who registered full of enthusiasm in the middle of the night (as soon as he/she found out about it) might take him/her out of the "competition".

Hey I would have to say that this chat thing may be impossible, I mean if just jidging on the views for the thread before this, then you could expect 10000-50000 people, I hope either A) not many people bother turning up or B) there is a way around this.

Hello, I`ve registered here with only one purpose - to try to became part of the creation of HMM5. I`m very well experienced in beta testing (prelimiring testing for Blizzards Starcraft and World of Warcraft) and I want to contribute as well for, no doubt, the best strategy of all time. That means I have 0,007% chances of becoming a beta tester. If the beta testers were chosen randomly, that is. Since they are selected, I guess there is a criteria for the selection, so some will haver higher chances than others.

All the questions you answered when you registered for it is the criteria. They want some from all different aspects, experienced Heroes fans as well as total noobs. Different nationalities, genders, ages etc.

Huh?! Are you mad? 0,0007% chance? It was chosen 1000, there was 14000... it is more like 7,14% chance, much better than 0,0007%. Still, less than 10% is never good, yet, it is much more than I thought it would be. I think there is just not soo much people interested in such responsability (specialy after reading the NDA).

Well, I wont give any information to anyone other than other testers even if under torture. But, I still have a question... do there will be a privative forum for Beta Testers so they can share their discoveries? It would be better to beta testers get more organized about it.

Well, anyways, I will have my hands really itchy for the next days looking at my e-meil to know if I got chosen. Or mail... I can dream.

it is a 7% chance which is alright, and I have a feeling that there will be no people that are total noobs as even the ones that are total noobs will most likely have selected them all because they will think it will have a better chance of getting them in, I think it will actually have a smaller chance of getting them in, because of the long time heroes supporters I think the ones that have fan sites and post regularly on forums will have the best chances.

I also hope thats the way it is coz I have posted on here a fair bit and was on these since way before the beta (since the first I heard Homm V was still being made) I only found out about half to 3/4 of a year ago that 3D0/NWC had gone bankrupt, and this was due to trying to activate the auto updater and it wouldnt work, same with the support site, then thats how I found out ubi were making this so far glorious looking game http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

If you want to register multiple time the account doesn't matter much if you can see the IP. And as a reminder, board admin have access to that kind of information. Also you would have to forge as many e-mail adresses as there are accounts because if all is put in a data base and use the e-mail as one of the keys (what I should do) then bye bye all double registrationd.

I'm really glad that the developers are turning to the fans to test the game. In my opinion, most of the best games out there was made using beta tests. I hope that people take this opportunity to help make the game better and discover bugs, not just to be one of the first to try it.

Oh good, because I tought you made the calculations as if there was 1 chance in 14000, I really thought you were a little off or made a big mistake, cause 0,007% is way diferent to 0,07. Or 7/100.

BTW, everyone here is registering to test the game, AS WELL as to play the game, I know lots of you veteran beta testers are looking high to HoM&M5, that preference clearly shows how you want to PLAY the game. I'm not saying that I registered just to play the game, just that's my main reason, like I said before, I will do the tests, but I will PLAY it as well.

Finally, as I said before, I had registered 29 times or so... but I really thought it woudn't make diference when I discovered I registered that many times (I was playing as I was registering, only when I quit I saw the "you got registered" message, before that I thought i wasn't get registered). Really, allow the same adress and IP to get multiple registration would be lame from ubi.

Disciples is one of those Heroes style TBS-games, pretty good one also (Heroes 4 and Disciples 2 were released quite much the same time. In finnish reviews Disciples got better points and after trying the demo it was a must to have purchase for me).

Remember that those who will be chosen are not only very lucky, but they have to do some hard work too to slash the remaining bugs and keep reporting about those. So it's not just a priviledge it's contains a great amount of responsibility too.

Hope the system to pick the testers is not fully random because all of those who will be chosen may not work as hard as they're supposed to. Having fun testing the game is not forbidden I guess, but having just testers that test just to have the change to play wouldn't be good thing for the retail release.

As I played the WoW-beta, I certainly felt that they were not able to fix/report all the bugs (mostly because tester were picked from the pre-orderers, but at the open beta it was just mostly a stress test for the servers). Signed up for the Kohan2 beta too when it was held but hadn't luck there, so don't know about their methods.

I'll have to disagree 100%. Having reached number 5 it shows how many players actually love this game. In that spirit every true fan will want to make this the best HoMM ever

Remember that the beta tester duty is not only point bugs, but also what he fells wrong in the game. people dont belive, but from beta to full version, a LOT yet can be changed. We can talk about artificats that we think doesn't have any use, things that we think its dispensable, and what we think could be added. But remember that it has a limit, so don't ask to change ALL the upgrade system or something like that. The game wouldn't be better just by not having bugs, but also by deleting what feels wrong and adding what could be good. If they receive only 1 or 2 reports about one point of the game they won't give much care, but if they get about 50-100 of the 1000 testers to point one single issue they could work on it.

Anyways, you all talk about the maps you've made, and what you did, but that was already answered to their staff when they asked in the registretion: Do you made any Heroes map? (Y or N)/ Are you an active member of Heroes comunity (Y or N)/ Have you taken part of a Heroes Championship? (Y or N). Y, N and N were my answers, just the truth, my maps were more local maps than anything, but still were maps and I dont feel intimidated. The staff won't give much care about THESE foruns, so don't try to impress anyone. Besides, this will not be only random pickup, actually, I think the ones who post that didn't played any other heroes and answered NO to these questions have more chance than you hardcore beta testers, as they can tell the most sincere critics.

BTW, only multiplayer right? It means that there will be a little more complicated to test things like: Take an armour and see its bonuses, then let a creature get hit 1000 times with armour equiped and 1000 without it, then see if it worked. Someone said it somewhere.

I didn’t like the H4 especially for the bad AI of the comp and I’m not referring to the neutral armies that I really don’t care much, I’m referring to the computer opponent which just stayed near the castle and do nothing and that is on the impossible difficulty. they just can’t risk to make the same mistake with the H5.Actually they can’t do any big mistake because that would mean the end of the series. I believe it would be POLITE (if you guys get my point) for people to speak in a language that we can all understand, otherwise the forum would degenerate in a pointless search for posts that one can read and understand. In other words, if someone has something to say about the beta test on this international forum then that one should speak in English (the language of the whole site) no matter it is his/her first post or not. Same for Bulgarian and etc.

I have 2 setup's, an athlon xp@2400(3600+) with 6800ultra and acer 1692 laptop and I'm using a dsl internet connection.

I am a big fan of oss (open source software) and all the programs that I am using are legal (either original's -for games mostly- or oss). Downloading a full-of-bugs alpha version with one stage, one hero and a mage guild from HoMM3 is like downloading a preview, a demo or a commercial. It's not a full version and it hasn't any license agreement, so i can't see why it's illegal! Znork, the beta that i was play cant be illegal because isnt the game! And it was a demo devolped by ubisoft in june of 2004!!

It has too many bugs but u might play it, u can download it from internet or from emule.

I repeat this, te beta demo is from ubisoft, then when u are going to acuse somebody, think that it can be (in this case) legal.

Ps: the english arent my languaje.

The alpha version some people are talking about here is actually a stolen Alpha, which is way before the adventure map was 3D. (according to some stupid guys who think it is the actual game... sheesh)

I dont know if it was stolen, but if it was, im sorry about that i told. But i dont think that. I read a readme that go with the alpha demo and it is writed for read by any user.

The alpha demo increase my interest in this game and it convence me to buy it when it will release.

We will have to push back the start of the beta test once again. I'm really sorry about that, and I will take all the blame. I hope you will understand that we prefer to have you wait a little more and hand over a better game version. We could have started at the end of this week, but this is too risky right before the week end : we wouldnt be able to react to problems.

Another update, is that you will receive the mails right on the same day, no delay before being able to download the version and start testing.

We should start on next monday or tuesday.

You will get chances to test and coment to many people when the other beta starts the day after ubi beta starting.
It will going to be only multiplayer and will asking you to try and cheat so they can close any of the lootholes. This is been asked by Ubi and Nival so that other original testing guys can fucus on small bugs and just play the game to have fun and not werry about them too much.
