Sorry just cleaned my machine....found this one of a DD just breaking in 2...but the rest of the sequence got thrown...
if you look carefully you can see it starting to break.
DD's will very often break in two with a broadside fish.

My copy of SH4 is moded, the one you see there was i believe: SH4+Trigger Maru+patch 1.2
Now i use SH4+ latest TM (trigger maru mode)+1.3
i strongly recomend using the modes ...not only do they make the overall experience more enjoyable, but they also solve quiet a few prob. in the stock game.
if you need assistence installing and finding the modes let me know...
if so post the specs of your machine http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

ok ...lets start on what changes with a mode.
first of all the game play suffers quiet a few improvements, graphicaly and in difficulty.
there are quiet a few modes available, all great, but i am down to two, REAL Fleet Boat, and the latest Trigger Maru.
RFB, is a mode that i use sometimes, but find a bit to o Purist...its a bit toomuch reality for me.
Trigger Maru, ups the difficulty level, but still alloe=ws for a lot of enjoyment without having to do everything the hard way.
NEVERTHELESS, for a newbiee, TM will be quiet chalenging...but that is wahy people by Simulators and not a shoot me up...
on TM you will have to use some rudiments of navigation to find a ship to shoot at...
my advice is actually to install it have a go, then go back to vanilla, and gain a bit more experience, and then go back to TM...and you will BE in the Pacific http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
ill give you the links in a jiffy...hang on

ok...it starts like this,
First you will need (strongly advisable) to download Jonesoft Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME),
this is probably the nicest program ever, you use it to install and desinstall modes without having to do it by hand...and messing with the files.
Jonesoft Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME) (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/software/products.html)
After you hav instaled it run it once, and ONLY then download modes...
you will need a program to Unzip the files, i use 7-zip, its good and free...
7-ZIP (http://www.7-zip.org/)
then you need the modes, heres one tomorrow ill post the other...
TM (Trigger Maru) (http://files.filefront.com//;8092629;;/)
i strongly recomend you read all the read me files!!!
if you have any problems come to the forum and explain what exactly you did, so that i or someone can land a hand.
have fun!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Fortunatly you have run into DeepBlueWolf. He is one of the most helpful guys on this forum and is truly a gentleman. If I ever get near Germany I definatly owe him a tall cool foamy one or two. He is telling you the truth about the help you can get from this forum. There are a lot of us that just love the game and want to share the fun.
There is one thing about DBW you must remember however. He is a fighter pilot, a real honest to goodness fighter pilot and has a tendency explain things in an overview fashion. If you know your way around gaming and MODs he hits the high points and moves onto the next target. That is how pilots get their job done. If you are in need of step by step, "this is a football" type help, I will join in this discussion. I'll watch the thread, let me know.
How do I know so much about fighter pilots? I spent four years with Uncle Sam's Air Force keeping guys like him up in the air. They need those huge egos to get into one of those jet jalopies and go screaming off at mach 1.5. Great guys, but you couldn't tell them anything. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
I use TTM 1.4, the Silent Hunter graphix, almost all of the radio mods and have a huge amount of 1940s gramaphone music. There is some of my non-copyrighted Bigband music up at
http://hosted.filefront.com/dgrayson feel free to grab some.
Enjoy the game
Get in close, get hits and make like a hole in the water.

I have also heard that it has some bugs in it and that they send it to you in 4 shipments over a 5 month period. Then you have to MOD it to make the manual toasting and temperature control to work right.
