View Full Version : Is failure to lock lag?

Last night while I was playing it occurred to me that I was always having problems locking on a particular person. That person also happened to be able to walk through my smoke and do lots of other super-abstergo-agent things. So, I'm wondering if the failure to lock that we're all experiencing is just another form of lag? Here's how I think it may work; your reticle is directly on the persona showing on your screen, (say the barber) but according to the host system the barber is actually 6 feet to the left or right of where he is being shown on your screen, so when you release the button you lock onto the person who happens to be nearest your reticle in the host system's map instead of the person being shown on your screen.
BTW, lag was so bad last night the game was almost unplayable. I know it wasn't just me because hoserama showed up for one game and his score was below his normal tally as well. Couple that with either getting booted, or losing other players after every match, (even mid-match once or twice) and it was probably the least fun I've had playing for quite a while, maybe ever.
Also, for the record, I despise the way the camera auto-corrects/centers when you get close to a wall, overhang, etc. If I want to stare at the wall, let me stare at the wall.

Yeah, I saw a lot of people zig-zagging around. I was shocked that I was able to stun you those 2 times in Alhambra because you *clearly* should have had the kill on me, so I just assumed you were lagging badly. I think we played 2 games together, because I remember winning that one in Alhambra at the very last second (mainly through luck) and being hopelessly craptastic in the other.
I got disconnected from the next match at the lobby screen, so I took that as my cue to stop. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I'd had some absolutely great lag-free games earlier in the day before the templar scores updated, so the contrast with the laggy games in the evening really stood out.

Yeah, I was having a tough time with a couple of people in that lobby. As luck would have it I kept getting them as targets, or they were my pursuer so I wasted lots of SB's. I was surprised when I saw that you hadn't run away with the match, so I assumed you were dealing with the same problems I was. I did have hope when I took the lead with about 10 seconds to go, but then I got the dreaded, "You have finished 2nd" message from the nice lady. Grr! Seeing that it was you who took 1st made it much more bearable. I kept trying to join you for the rest of the night as well, but there were never any slots open in your games. Oh well, there's always next time.

Yeah, I did jump to a nice early lead but I have a hard time playing defense on Alhambra. That was my larger issue, even though I experienced the lag.
I'd gone down to that corner garden area and picked up a few stuns (bench mute!), but the blend groups in that area are not ideal and I couldn't hold on to my lead. I need to find better defensive spots on that map.
