So the games been out for a bit and I'm curious to know how everyone is progressing!
Just out of curiosity I tried something. I went into the song list and went to (Can't Get No) Satisfaction.
On the bottom left hand side it tells you how many times you've played it, and your highest score. Mine was around 11 times played, and a score of somewhere around 20k IIRC.
So I gave it a whirl and played it again and scored a 76k! Alright, awesome.
I did the same thing with Black Keys Next Girl, that song I had played 3 times, and my highest score was 12k (I hated that song..)
Played it again, boom, 83k. I thought that was pretty awesome.
(History: Having only played guitar for one week prior to picking up Rocksmith (learning basic chords mostly) and having only played Rocksmith for exactly 8 days now.)

I am doing well. One weekend with the game. Played for perhaps 4 hours?
I think I have over 85K for The Black Keys song, and about 70K for CGN Satisfaction. I have gold medalled all the challenges given, and I am currently in the 3rd event sequence.
I am really taking my time though. Trying to master the challenges given, as well as the songs given. I have been messing around with the riff repeater on The Black Keys and In Bloom. I have the intros down at the master level. Trying to work my way through the songs. Even though I get 85K on The Black Keys, I struggle and have a lot of failure once the 3rd (blue) string is introduced. On In Bloom, I struggle with the combos. I think if you really take these songs to the point of mastery, you are going to set yourself up for success... instead of rushing though.

I also remember seeing it in reviews, but this game has a way of always pushing you and throwing more in than you can handle. Its a good way to learn, but keeps your confidence down.
The important thing is to look back how you were when starting and think about how you would kill it now instead of messing up.

Yep, basically what I'm doing is playing through all the songs once on campaign, then techinques/arcade games and then focusing on the songs that really gave me problems in the riff repeater until I murder them :P

i'm obsessive about getting the best scores i can, so i don't even bother playing a song before going straight to the leveller and mastering it as best i can. working on the slither solo now...that's going to take a while. lol.
having loads of fun though.
so far i have mastery in where is my mind, plug in baby, unnatural selection, in bloom, use somebody (for my girlfriend :P), and take me out, and i think vasoline, though i need to get the last bit of the solo down. good times.

Stuck at the Epicenter event with Tom Petty breaking my heart.
I hope Ubi fixes this bug soon.

I'm at level 7 and slowing somewhat. I'm still playing a lot, but not getting there.
I've gotten golds on all the techniques and have passed the Scale Runner game. The other games are giving me lots of trouble. I was about 400,000 points away from the 15,000,000 points required for an achievement in fret sliding mini-game.
I would only rehearse the songs as needed and do an event. Now that I've completed all the songs in the catalog I'm putting more time into them. I've got 3 songs in master mode.
One thing I've noticed is that I've typically had a bad habit of doing a string bend when I'm playing something too fast. Rocksmith doesn't let me get away with being too sloppy. I've started to lighten my touch.
I've played more guitar in the last 2 weeks than I had in the last 6 months.

I'm an international support act!!! Yeeeeeeeaaah! I've proabably put ~25 hours into the game and I just now feel comfortable with reading the screen. It took a long long time to realize that orange was the third string in real time.
I actually feel as though I'm improving. Whereas when I started I'd mess up the super slow and easy version of the songs, now when they level up my difficulty I can usually get the majority of the new phrase in real time.

Before this game I never touched a guitar, I love metal and rock and I like the song selection, anyway; when I played for the first time I could barely carry a tune in I can't get no satisfaction, after playing the game for 4 days I scored gold in that song and have gotten better at shifting and using my 2,3 and 4th fingers, I have also noticed a little bit of an improvement in hammer-ups/downs. I have only about an hour a day to practice and I like that calluses are beginning to form in my fingers which make them hurt way less. I really love this game and I hope they improve it and make more songs available, I'm hoping that practicing for at least an hour a day will one day make me able to play songs a bit more complicated than the ones in the game.
Well done Ubisoft, Thanks

Between bowling and being out of town both weekends since I've got the game I haven't been able to play as often as I like. I started out just following the recommended path and was able to qualify and play the first two or three events but eventually decided I wanted to learn the songs better before playing the events since I heard you can unlock additional tunes by getting two encores. I've found that I'm able to qualify songs after one or two runs through them, maybe 3 sometimes so I actually have 3 events unlocked (one fully qualified) that I don't want to perform until I have all the songs nailed in rehearsal. Plus sometimes I like to just scroll through the songs and play one.
I think I'm going to just play each of the 5 qualified songs for my current event over and over until I'm scoring high on them, then play the event. I also went back to Satisfaction last night and played it enough times to score 70K and unlock the Vintage Fire tone. I'm actually considering erasing my saved data and starting over since the game won't let you backtrack to events you've already done. The first couple events were only one or two tunes anyway so it wouldn't take me long to catch back up to where I am now.
Also have done some of the technique challenges and guitarcade games like scale runner, ducks and the zombie killing chord one.

r1chard34: They had posted a few fixes in the Epicenter issue thread here. You can always try my idea of a fix: Suck bad enough to where you dont get an encore and move on http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hi all...43 yr old never been, bedroom/no-lesson guitar hack for 20 years, but started getting serious in Feb. Practicing 3-5 hrs days...and then ROCKSMITH comes out!! Been playing almost daily..at level 6 National Headliner 3,835,401 at the moment. Golded the skills, and bout halfway through the songs/events. Usually qualifying in the 2-4 practices...and scoring in 75k-95k range on songs. Prior to this, Id only ever really played 2 or 3 all the way through. Usually just played a riff then moved on...so playing full songs has been huge for me. My wife now wants to hang in my mancave for the 'Events'. Hope to see more 80's rock tunes in here someday (ACDC/ Def/ Ozzy/ Priest/ Motley/Dokken). I grabbed an Xbox 360 from craiglist just for Rocksmith, not dissapointed, wich this was out when I was a kid.

I haven't heard anybody say they were on an XBox so I've been assuming it's a PS3 issue.

I did try creating an alt account and leveling up Good Enough and then try replaying the event in my main. Got through the song, but it froze at the end before scoring the event.
I guess the good news is I get more than one crack at the event. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

Dabbled in guitar before this game, never took it seriously. A little music theory under my belt, fat slow fingers.
I've been messing around with this along with the justinguitar.com beginner courses. I wish the game itself was more social, as that element I think is going to be the key to longevity in my case.
Anyway, rocking out pretty well on CGN Satisfaction and the Black Keys song, along with Higher Ground. But I'm not plowing through everything just yet. I'm taking this "get it perfect" approach first with the first few songs. Don't know if that approach will stick, but its enough of a motivator for me for now.

this is a question to those of you who are beginners:
Are you just playing the songs however you like and can get through? Or are you paying attention to the fingering and figuring out the most efficient ways to get through the songs.
I feel like I can press through, and I am getting better... but I feel like I am picking up on bad habits like over-use of my 1st and 2nd fingers. I am thinking of slowing down and concentrating on the first few songs and master them perfecting the techniques and finger positioning.

Definitely paying attention to finger position and trying to develop good habits.
This approach forces me into not going faster than I should. I do it in conjunction with things I pick up from other guitar lessons. I'm taking the "practice, not playing" approach. It's so rewarding when I nail a riff and I'm doing it correctly. I may not get it right the second or third time but at least I know I CAN.
But that's just me.

At level 8, have several songs unlocked master mode (the easier ones such as the Black Keys songs, Song2, Sound Garden, and the Nirvana songs), and almost all of the rest at the 90k to qualify level for events. Actually at the point now where I have to go in and level up the individual rifts to max because you have to have so many at max level and hit mostly perfect to get 90+k on many of the songs.
I REALLY need to work on the games though as I have next to no points in them.

Level 7 here. Songs are requiring higher points to qualify so I just started using the riff leveler to open more notes. Having a blast.

here's a question: when you play Satisfaction, do you use your first, third, and fourth fingers to play the main riff? if so, that's good. if you're not, then you're missing out on a good pinky building exercise that'll come in handy later! using your pinky sucks at first..but after 10 minutes of practice it gets easier. stick at'er!
