hey there,

I was looking forward to this game and went for the demo. After installing (Windows 7) it started popping errormessages about missing dx9.dll´s.

After I found out, that it is about the direct-x-setup wanting to be started in admin mode I finally got the game started.

And there I was, loading the game for about 5 minutes getting bored. Then finally it started and I saw jungle and someone started talking, but that was where it ended again. It looked like frozen so I kicked it using the task manager.

Restarting the game from now on resulted in black screens while loading it. I restarted my PC and tried again without touching any button until it got loaded completely.

After another 4 - 5 minutes of loading I again arrived at the first line of introduction resulting in another minute waiting until it went further. The introduction took like 4ever since every 30 seconds it took it´s time to load another 30 - 60+ seconds. If the game did move on without loading the sound was getting off and on continously.

Finally I arrived at the stage where I got to fly the copter... same there... 30 secs flying, 30 - 60+ secs loading.

Same picture on the ground.... 30 secs running/shooting 30 - 60+ secs loading.

Then I ran into that big scripted animal... guess what happend... white screen and another minute to wait until it was finished loading.

Two flowers ahead in the demo it was over since it crashed while shooting the second (black screen). I wasnt in the mood to wait for another recovery within a few minutes

My System:
OS: Win7-home-premium, 64-bit
GFX: ATI Radeon 5870
CPU: Core2 - 3 GhZ
Ram: 4 GB
Sound: Creative X-fi
The demo is installed on Raid-0-drive and was run in DX10.

I doubt that my system is too slow so the demo gotta have some issues with my hardware (prolly the GPU?).

(edt.: removed the rude part)

I have tried it on XP (32-bit) now and there it works. So it seems to be having problems with Windows 7 64-bit.

The only flaw I saw was that the shadows where flickering which might be caused due to the new GPU I got.

It is my understanding that there are some compatibility issues between the demo and Windows 7. Our tech team is working on a fix, but their priority at this time is in applying that fix to the release version of the game. I will update you when we have something ready for the demo.

I gotta say I liked what I saw when it worked on XP. So if there´s anything I can help you with (like testing a new W7-version) I´d be happy to.

But I figure you got your own big team who´s on it anyways.

Could anyone having issues with the demo please post system specs to help us narrow down the issue? I had no issues on a similarly spacced Windows 7 machine so it may be a particular driver or system component causing the issue.

I checked the event manager and found errormessages at exact that times when I tried to play Avatar.

I´m not using an english W7 so I gotta try to translate it. It says somthing like that:

Error: JRAID
Error ID: 3079
The driver for the device "\Device\Scsi\JRAID1" has exceeded port time due to the lack of activity. All associated busses will be set back to correct the error.

After I found that message (while looking for something else ofc http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) I copied the demo onto another drive and ran it from there and it worked.

So basicly the demo doesnt like the raid drive resp. doesnt like to be run from there. I wouldnt know why because I´m running every game from the raid without any problems except for Avatar.

I´m using the onboard raid controller from my Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 mainboard. OFC I downloaded the latest drivers before I installed W7 but they where Vista-64-drivers since W7 drivers where not available on the Gigabyte driver download page. I read before that you can use Vista drivers for W7 and it worked so far.

So basicly problem found but no clue how to solve it to being able to run it from the raid drive again.

Hope this is helpful.

Ok now another error came up which I belive to have seen on the forum already.

In DX10 mode it sometimes switches to windowed mode (e.g. when the firewall pops up to tell that the demo wants to "call home").

If that happens you are stuck in windowed mode with no possibility to get it to full screen again (greyed options with rightklick resp. the window button who usually makes it full screen again is greyed as well.

My brother got the same problem.

Restarting the game works though but that shouldnt usually be necessary.
