Hi, quick question, does the final version of the game run any smoother than the demo? Also does AA work in the final game? just wandering.

Thats awesome man....can you tell me if the PC version has a CD key im sure it does I just wanna know for sure...and does the PC version have an IN-game browser? Can you plz let me know i'd greatly appreciate it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

NV will probably look the same due to the fact that there was nothing to fix.. it looked fine.. however I've noticed when comparing pictures that the screens that are using an ATI card seem to be slightly washy and/or have more jaggies.

03-23-2004, 09:59 PM
I would greatly love an In-Game browser.. as I don't care much for.. ahem.. those little.. internet game browsers.. Except for ASE.. because it has an option you can set that will make it automaticaly turn off when you launch the game.. which I like.. and there are other UBI games on there.. so there will probably be PT games as well.

How easy is it to spot a spy if he is not moving, and you are using Motion Detect mode? Does the spy just apear to be not rendered.. or can you see a faint figure if he's just crouching there.. know what I mean.

KU_
03-23-2004, 10:24 PM
Well motion dectotors only pic up peeps if they are moving pretty fast they'll pic up pretty much ne thing that moves at the right speed. and spies are hard to pick up if they are not movin.

Man...noone gets this night vision thing so I am going to try and make it clear. THE NIGHT VISION IN PT IS NOT THE SAME AS THE LAST AND IS ACTUALLY REDUCED IN QUALITY. I know you guys like the new game and are enthusiastic about it but they have throughly jacked the night vision up bigtime. It is simple, load a splinter cell game up, go into a completely dark area and hit the night vision. It is crisp, grainy and full of hard contrast. It looks amazing. In the new game, only sams character is sharp and detailed, the environment is blurry, washy and fuzzy. If it is intentional, fine then it is an aesthetics thing and it is a matter of personal preference. If it is not and it is for the reason I am imagining then it is not so ok. That would be because first and foremost the game is being made for the XBox and it is an optimization thing so the PC guys have to suffer.

Oh and another thing, people have been justifying the change by saying it follows realism but, I dont know. If it were trying to be realistic then it would be more similar to the night vision in R6 which actually looks very realistic ( I have looked through nvg's before...) Anyways, I liked it sharp and the way the light affected it but now it just seems to be something that was created as an after effect. Oh well. Hope youre enjoying the game.

ok sorry i took so long in my reply but had a bit of an emergency with my son and we had to take him to a doc to get him checked out. I'll answer some of the questions here with the limited time ive played...so far i'm 2 hours in. Firstly i didnt try the SP demo so i'm afraid i cant help there i decided to hold out the week for the full version, but it seems to run very smooth on my FX5950 everything maxed out, it runs nice on my sons pc with a FX5200 too everything set high res 800x600. There doesnt appear to be a cd-key, but the multi takes you to an online registration. The intro is cool it starts with you picking handcuffs...then goes into a more detailed first level where you train, the thermal vision looks cool. The lighting affects are what you have come to expect and love in this game, i love the effect of the torches on the terrorists heads, especially when u have night vision on and it shines in your face. the install is 3 disks if you opt not to use punk buster although when i installed with punk on the other pc it like copied files for 2 seconds and was done all in all id say roughly the same time as sc1 give or take, no option for minimum install, but the pc version runs smooth, and i love the pc controls more than console so i'm happier i bought on this platform

SO let me get this straight....you HAVE to register online with somthing or what? is that how it works to get your cd key? Are you able to play it on a lan with the same CD key? Or will have to get other copies? and will 1 cd key work for multiple computers online?

It probably is a registration process accessable only via the CD, reading that info and emailing you your CD key based on info read from the disk.. This is just my speculation, anyone that has the game care to elaborate what the registration is like?

ok u get to a menu and it says

play on ubisoft.com

Play on Lan

when u go to play on ubisoft it asks u for user name and pass...there's a tab at the top which u click so u can register u type in user name pass then pass again to confirm, then it takes you to the cd-key screen after u register http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif sorry if my earlier post was misleading, but you dont register to get the cd key it comes with the game, i kinda just slammed this in and didnt check everything before hand since i wanted to check out single play...which by the way is fantastic...i'm not much of a multi guy myself that more my kids thing, but i checked into it just fer u guys.

id just like to take oppourtunity to say well done to ubisoft first class game, worth every dollar and cent, and keep up with ur quality releases the last 4 games i bought have been all ubisoft

To clear things out, here is how UBI usually proceed with CD key protection, as it looks like the same protection they used for Raven Shield:

-Unlike other games, they don't ask you for the CD-Key during the installation, but when you try to connect online for the first time. This is the case for Raven Shield, Far Cry and Splinter Cell.

-What they do then, is link your CDKey with you ubi.com account (online play account for ubi games) the first time you try to get online, so multiple uses of the same CDKey is not possible and can be tracked easily.

-Each time you play online, the game logs your ubi.com account (even if you play via all seeing eye).

yup that seems the case sorry guys but i'm not much of an online gamer so i wouldnt know too much, but my kids will prolly comfirm this they play online all the time....this game is awesome on the train level now, so far its a lil easier than the first one i think....some of the new weapons are awesome
