So, let's see...
My mom-in-law passed away in April. It was sad to see her the way she was before she died. She had been the most spirited woman I knew, but she became weak, pale, and eventually lifeless. My wife has had a tough time with it. We have totally redecorated the room where her mom lived out the last 6 months of her life, but still it is not enough. To that end, we have started building a new house. It has given my wife something to look forward to, and perhaps it is the change of scenery she needs.
At work, we just acquired another company of equal size to ours. It has been challenging to say the least to try and integrate the two systems, structures, and behaviors. I have been spending countless hours here at work trying to make sure this transition goes smoothly. When I get home I have bene trying to spend time with my wife and son, but he is usually asleep by the time I get home. So, I get a couple hours with the wife and then try to make it up to my son on the weekends.
Add to that the fact that I am finishing up my doctorate and the equation yields one result: no time for gaming. I have not played a game in about 3 months. The last thing I did play was BF1942 (got up to individual rank #6 on bfstats.) I do talk to the guys in BP when I have the chance, and yesterday we were reminiscing about days of old. Never have I enjoyed myself on the computer (with the exception of bangbus.com) more than my first year or so playing GR. It will forever be the best game ever, and this community was the best community anyone could ever imagine. It was full of bright people with some real terds mixed in who made the time I spent on here the best I have ever had in an online community. I do miss all of those good times - the times when we played for the love of the game.
I really don't like what most ladders have become. I am a fiercely competitive guy, but I realized that there really is no way to compete online with thousands of anonymous individuals and expect a fair, entertaining experience time in and time out. So, I have given up.
Now, I await GR2 and hope it can bring back that lovin' feelin'. In the interim I might play BF1942 when the new expack comes out. Other than that, I'll try to pop my head in to this community to say hey to the guys I love and sometimes hate all in the same day. I may have given you guys some serious crap, but I have nothing but fond memories of the GR forums.

Welcome back again,man.
I am truly sorry for you and your wife's loss;
Lost my Dad summer before last and I know what pain and anguish is like. Still is tough on me sometimes. I was the oldest and had a special bond with my Dad.
I hope the new house helps. but, old friend, spend as much time with the wife as you can. From experience, i know she will need it. my wife lost her Mom last Nov and it wasn't much fun here at Leep's place for awhile. She took it extremely hard. Still has her moments.
Congrats on the upcoming Doctorate: Man is your plate full;
Good luck on handling it all- i'll say a prayer for your wife and might even say one for you. Good to have you back;
I haven't taken a "Flying Leep" for ages. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Well, well, well. Look what the cat dragged in. Hey Spidey-dude! Glad to see you haven't dropped off the face of the earth. My most sincere condolences to you and your wife. I know it was a long and arduous time for your family, and I'm sure it will be tough going down the road, but I know you can cope.
You certainly seem to have your hands full these days. But once you get your PhD you'll happily labor along with the rest of the overeducated and underemployed /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
Yeah, GR was and always will be the greatest game. This community still has it's bright spots, though not the same as it was "back in the day". (Hey, was I a bright spot or a terd?)
Try to drop in on a game now and then. You can still find a server with some of the old guys on now and then. Plus some of the newer folk ain't so bad /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Sometimes when the stress gets to you, blasting away at somebody is just the ticket. Nothing like a good team kill to boost the spirits.
Hang tough, stay safe and stay sane, bud. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hey! Lookie here!
Hey man, I'm glad things are busy for you. I suppose it is better that not being busy at all sometimes! I hope your wife has a full recovery from her loss. I can only imagine the pain she has gone through already.
I'm also glad that they didn't find anything bad with your wife when she went to the doctor...
Anyhoo, I hope things go good for you and yours...
