Hey guys! I noticed that in MP, in Recent Players, I can see people who played 11 and 12 days ago, but I don't think that no-one has played online for almost 2 weeks...
So what's the problem? Can't the game even access the internet?
Can you check your AC:B and tell me what it says?

Well, I realize that I haven't touched AC:B for over a week now. I'll say that right now I've all but lost hopes on whether Ubisoft support will fix this eventually. Even when we're told to "rest assured" that they are working on the known issues with multiplayer, I think the uncertainty and agitation is only growing in our community. In fact, we have almost no idea about just exactly WHAT the support team is doing right now. I now am starting to lose interest in the multiplayer because frankly, I'm not going to sit there for hours just to find a session to play for maybe two or three rounds. I don't know how urgent the support think this multiplayer problem is, but if we still won't be getting any update whatsoever (even attempts/theories of any kind) from them, then I'm afraid my (and most likely others') overall disappointment toward Ubisoft will only get bigger...
Sure, we should be patient for the solutions, but can't we at least know what the heck is going on at the backstage? A simple "The support is working hard on these issues right now" is just NOT enough.

You are so right on this one.
Ubisoft has still a lot to learn on how to communicate with their communion.
Showing they really care. Giving proper info and all.
One would expect more seriousness but it seems idle hope.
If you compare with DICE and how they communicate openly with their customers... Big difference.
Sorry guys, don't blame us on your mistakes.
And maybe: LEARN ON HOW TO ACT RIGHT!

You know what peeves me off the most about game producing companies... None of the writers/producers are gamers themselves so they dont understand the urgency of there users...
Ubisoft, i'm looseing my patience and so are alot of people, WHY DO YOU WANT TO LOOSE CUSTOMERS??? YOU WILL LOOSE MONEY! WHY DO YOU WANT TO DO THIS FOR GOD SAKE??? DONT YOU WANT TO UPDATE THIS AND FIX EVERYTHING NOW. BECAUSE IF YOU DO, I'M SURE YOU WILL GET ALOT MORE BUYERS. BUT YOU'RE TAKING UR OWN TIME, AND IN THE MIDST OF YOUR SLOW ACTIONS, YOUR LOOSEING CUSTOMERS. ITS AS IF YOUR SAYING TO US.. "WE DONT WANT YOU ANYMORE, WE DONT WANT YOUR MONEY, WE WANT TO LOOSE CUSTOMERS"
ACT NOW, RELEASE A PATCH. FIX THIS PROBLEM. OR ME AND A COUPLE OF HUNDRED OTHER FRIENDS WILL STOP BUYING GAMES FROM YOU FOR GOOD. AND AFTER THAT HAPPENS, MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS WILL FOLLOW. YOU DONT UNDERSTAND IT DO YOU.
This makes me so mad... there is nothing stopping you guys... you HUNDREDS of develepors, from writing a patch... absoloutely nothing.

Well, not really Mr Shade. Although that advice has helped people to finally connect to the multiplayer and play sessions, it's far from 'without issues', the game is glitched/bugged as hell.

Just to offer you some perspective. You seem to be completely right, but maybe more people need to complain through writing and offer this information to gaming websites and other forms of press that might be interested. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
You're right. While we are having issues with this game, gaming websites still have positive reviews about AC:B. They need to know that the MP (while AC:B is one of the MP I've ever played) is still suffering from issues like slow matchmaking.
By the way I feel sorry for Obliviondoll, the way he's been (or still is?) treated is unacceptable.
I've also filed a couple of tickets regarding the matchmaking issues. I get a standard reply, with a link to the Ubi forum about portforwarding. They knew I've already tried everything to make the MP work - I even put milk and cookies ready to eat, 'cause shutting off my pc security is just asking for hackers to visit my computer for a snack and a drink - and what do I get as a final reply? The issue has been solvedhttp://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif!! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Yeah, I totally agree. They made me actually buy a new soundcard, to play multiplayer... And when I finally could play, they released patch 1.02, totally messing everything up again.
You wouldn't believe the stuff I've experienced in the game... Well, at least I can play the game, some might say, well, not really... Out of 1 hour of game time - including time to start it up and menu/loading times etc. - I can maybe, sometimes, when everything is just right, play 1 or 2 good matches, before the game starts screwing me over with stuff like: not announcing round changes (in Manhunt, I could actually be a hunter, suddenly computer says I lost my contract, I see players floating away, and all of a sudden it then says I have new pursuers on me, but I wouldn't get any points for hiding in a blend group), freezing players, overwriting kill animations with stuns, endless DCs and reboots to SP, unreachable players (people I could play with one second, but not the next), breaking up me and my friend and sending us to seperate lobbies, half way through a round emptying the lobby OVER AND OVER again(I actually had this with the same 7 people for about 20 minutes, before we could finally play), kicking me out of MP and not letting me sign in for an unknown period of time, endless loading loops, bugged out rematches, people jumping through roofs/buildings and even chase breakers (I mean, come on, what are they for?!) etc. etc. etc.
And yet, Ubisoft chooses to address the TS system first, instead of stuff that could actually improve gameplay...
And every time you point any glitch out to Tech Support, they'll tell you to re-install the game and manually patch it, or delete your .ini files or some other bogus answer... I mean, how many times do I have to re-install this game before it works correctly, because then I'll just get it out of the way right now...
But still, write a nice letter to the nearest Ubisoft Office, and wait a week or 2 for them to reply... Then write 10 more, and wait another 2 weeks for them to tell you you're right, but they'll still deny anything's wrong at their end. And then send all tickets and mail to the press http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Well, today I finally got a suitable resolution to my problem — a full refund.
I bought the game on March 23rd, and unlike some of you, I've never been able to connect even once. The ticket I opened was, as you guys well know, answered with useless and misleading advice that didn't even seem to come from a real person, and then marked as "Solved". About two weeks ago, I realized that Ubisoft has neither the ability nor the inclination to fix its product, so I opened another ticket demanding a refund. The answer was basically: no way.
So instead, I went to ubisoftgroup.com -- Ubisoft's corporate web site -- and looked in the 'Contact Us' section for contacts for my location (Toronto, Canada). I sent emails to cristine.tessier at ubisoft.com, mary-beth.henson at ubisoft.com, presse at ubisoft.com, and also to the retailer (Gamestop). A couple days later, the 'no way' ticket was suddenly updated. The text of one of the emails I had sent had been copy-pasted in, and the tech said: "As indicated previously, we cannot issue you a refund as all refunds must be issued from the place of purchase. However, I have been authorized to offer you a sealed copy of the game which you can return to the retailer (if they will accept it). If you would like to do this, update this incident (please do NOT create a new incident) with your current mailing address and your key from the copy of the game you have now." The package arrived by courier yesterday, and I returned it to Gamestop and received a full refund.
My advice is: let Ubisoft know *at the corporate level* that their product has problems, if you want to see results. Do not waste your time with "MrShade," "UbiGabe," or any of the tech support robots. Their purpose in life, if any, seems to be to *prevent* your reports from reaching the real decision-makers at Ubisoft and alerting them to the serious problems with their product.
Good luck to all of you guys. I am very relieved to be completely *done* with this mess of a game. And I will never buy another Ubisoft product as long as I live.

good to know, tigger- I made it to level three after one game, after three hours of waiting and decided I would sit until the patch came out to fix matchmaking issues.
Since then, nothing has been done save a port change which is bypassing the issue to begin with.
It breaks my heart that such a fantastic multiplayer concept is being executed so poorly that it makes me yearn for my money and time back.
I'll follow in your footsteps.

I've already been asking that for 3 weeks now, since patch 1.02 messed up my game.
First they told me no way, second the told me I was right with certain accusations, but still no way for a refund, after a few more emails, I got my 3rd reply offering me this (they said 'again', but it was never offered before):
1) a new version of the game
2) a goodiepack
3) a replacement game, instead of AC:B, they offered Splintercell...
I replied that I don't get how they can offer me that stuff, but not a refund. I'm not a real gamer, I love certain games, but others I never play. I love the AC series, it's one of the few (and I mean like 1 of the 2 or maybe 3) games that I actually finished completely (in 20 years of computer experience), and the only one that I actually finished more than once.
Why would I want to trade the game for a game that I will never touch again after playing it for a few minutes? I just want them to either give me my money back, or to fix the game, which indeed, I don't see happening either.
But it's really bad service that they make it this hard for us PC players.
I mean, TS has been fixed for the PS3, but not for the PC, what kinda company only fixes a problem partially like that?! Not to mention the fact that this game is a direct port of the console version, but has every issue that the console version had when it first got released. So, after half a year of porting, they never thought 'hmm, lets take this time to fix this game, so it's actually playable' :|

In other words they're with us!
They should just make a patch that would fix atleast SOME of the multiplayer bugs and lags, all the multiplayer crashes (to make is playable) and stop fixing the single player mode! Since there are a few lags BUT NOONE CARES ABOUT THEM! We just wanna play the game INCLUDING multiplayer!

Weird stuff for the books:
I was just in a player match with a friend. I was killed, so I looked at the scoreboard, and we were both on there. Then when I respawn, right before I kill my target, I get DC'd...
So I go to my friendslist, and hey, what's that? According to my friendslist, he was playing a whole different match, although, I'm sure he was in my match aswel, because he killed me... How can that be?
When I tried joining him, I got the unreachable problem. So, could that be part of the problem? My friendslist registering a different session than actually was?

Hi,
I´ve just installed the AC:B and because I´m not so good in English so i haven´t read the thred completely.
But when I log in to the game. It always write me that I´m unable to connect to the host.
I have the 1.02 update and I think that is the latest update for AC:B.
It is a bit wierd that I paid money for the game that is not running properly.
Thx for reading and answer.

well well, i did literally everything to make this game work in multiplayer mode, i have 1.02 patch, i have a cable-modem service but my isp doesn't provide me with de user & password of my cable modem so then i could see what's happening, and my isp tech service didn't help me much.
so searching and searching an searching into the web i could get into my modem configuration without reseting the modem, i am able now to configure some parameters of the modem,
so, it was in bridge mode, so i changed to router mode, that allowed me to configure a static ip in windows lan configuration through TCP v4 options... i.e. IP: 192.168.0.15, Gateway: 192.168.0.1, Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0, and the DNS servers provided by my isp.
once done this, i added in the modem web setup the ports listed in this thread to be opened, i turned the modem firewall off, turned on UPnP,.... and voila, regardless my ESET firewall setup (i didn't add any rule to any executable file) i can now find games, enter matches, and the most important, i can "play" a whole match without loosing conection or waiting the 1/6 abstergo agents forever.
i thought well, lets try quitting a match and joining another, and a few seconds later i was playing again.
it is true that some game modes last more than others but it's not a big deal, i never wait more than a minute now.
so after the game release date for pc i can fully play this game.
one little comment for ubisoft, this is the only game in yearrssss of playing online pc games that i have to modify parameters on the modem so why don't keep things simple? i mean, i did all this until i finally could play because i love all the AC games, but if i were bought this game just without having any hope in the first week of trying, i would have thrown away the game from my window.
so for all people like me that are still with problems about this topic, try to find out or make a call to your isp to get the username/password to get into the modem setup, it could bring a ray of light.

Look as much as i hate it, ubisoft still don't know what the problem with the game is.
otherwise they would just patch it. In my eyes its clear to see. Xbox and Ps3 run fine because they are run on servers set up by microsoft and sony ( admitably psn is down atm ) Whereas on PC they are relying on P2P connections as far as I can see. Which means that very few people have the abilty to host a game. So if you don't catch a game with a host you may not for ages.
The people with no issues clearly have the right ports to host. everyone else only has the ports to join. Ubisoft need to tell the pc gamer what the port is that enables them to host a game or set up servers like most major companies do.
Thats what I think the problem is. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Thanks for the reply mate... I guess i'm just gonna have to call it quits with Ubisoft.
Sorry guys, but its no one elses fault but your own... You couldve easily put in an Online System like Call Of Duty's where companies host servers and you join them on the dot, but instead you used a match making system which for the past 2-3 years that it's been used, in other games, has been known to be FAULTY. Either get rid of the match making system on PC or continue with this... so called new gen match making bull crap, which by the way, in my opinion, looks like something that people in the 80s would make with DOS.

Unless i hear from multiple sources that the next game has functional multiplayer and there's been at least a month or so after it's release i'm getting the next game cracked... I'm not giving ubisoft my money for a non functional game again.
This game was a huge letdown for so many people i don't know how they can make it up on their next game tbh...

After spending a whole saturday, i finally managed to play. Played the whole evening without problems, even after i took a 2 hour break, it still worked fine. Finding a game takes like 2 mins now. No problems whatsoever. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
How i did it :
1. Put down AVG firewall AND windows firewall
2. Opened my ports ( make sure THEY ARE OPEN )
3. Open UPnP on your router
4. Go to your Network centre -> Advanced Settings for Sharing -> Make sure Netwerk discovery/detention is ON.
5. Delete my HOSTS file
6. Put the firewall of the router ON, yes i put it ON, while Ubisoft said to put it off. ( You can't make a DMZ when it's off. )
7. Made a DMZ on my router -> VERY IMPORTANT, this did the trick ( you will need to make a virtual server/virtual ip for this, you can find a guide for this on portforwarding.com )
8. Restarted my Router and computer.
It took me 7 hours to find this out, i was so happy when it worked. This is the most time i ever spend finding out how to make a game work, for sure. Hope Ubisoft makes this progress a little bit easier
I hope these things will work for you guys aswell, I'm pretty sure it will when u follow my steps correctly. You might need to do some research however. GL and hope to see you online! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'm on Windows 7, 64-bit and I've had very few connectivity problems from the very start. Didn't have to change any settings, ports etc. My biggest problem is I keep getting randomly disconnected in the middle of the game, this sometimes happens several times in a row. Very frustrating. But I never have to wait longer than 5 minutes (10 mins max) to get into a match.

However, opening the DMZ means that you open ALL ports for your router, so:
1st, if this makes the game work, that means the problem was something to do with the ports.
2nd, this is quite risky IMO.

It's a disaster what Ubi is doing to PC players. Maybe they're hoping we'll stop buying the game, so then they can say 'see no one's buying it anyway, they don't want it, no PC version'.
Anyway...

I have Windows XP Home, service pack 3. Opened nothing. Changed nothing.
I personally refuse to open ports, change setting etc, as i'm not that experienced with computers, and i don't know what it means, what i'm opening, what it could potentially do, or who it could let in.
I don't trust people saying 'open this, do that, reduce your firewall and anti-virus (are you crazy!?)'.
I've never had to open anything or change anything for any game, and i'm not about to start now.
Longest i've waited has been 20mins. Usually wait anywhere from 1 to 10mins.
The best and quickest join session is always the very first one.
When everyone just stays with it, and presses 'rematch', everything goes smoothly. Until i get the 'disconnected' screen, and it throws me out.
I either have a good night and it happens once or twice, or a bad night, and it keeps happening every couple of sessions.
After that, or if i quit, it takes longer to find a match.
The game has crashed to desktop out of MP once.
I have lag in varying degrees.

Also, I don't want to be a total di** but obviously all these various hardware configuration that Ubi is talking about are outhere for other games too. It's not like Ubi invented the multiplayer gaming experience. We are all playing other games (Black Ops, etc.) and certanly is not a problem on our end.
This being said, I have all the ports opened, playing other games just fine, can't find any players on AS Brotherhood and what's worse is I just bought this game.

Well, it looks like the matchmaking system was finally fixed! Now it takes around 30 seconds to connect to a session.
The new problem is that it sometimes slots you into a session where your lag is so horrible that every other player is invisible to you until they kill you.
I still manage to top most games, even with the horrible lag which results me into locking on them first, running up to them to only be assassinated because their lock registered first.
Ah well, still gotta be happy about the wait times, or the lack of hehehe.

Maybe you don't understand....UBISOFT is an internationally country. Where I live the currency is other. If you like to pay for something that doesn't work is your problem, don't mine.
If I buy something I would like it to work, if not, I return it. I think you don't know really well how the seller/customer relation is about.
MP wasn't a bonus, if so, why they promoted so hard?? They would simply put ACB SP trailers and a little comment (like aqueduct or trajan market): "INCLUDE MP BONUS" and even smaller "with a terrible connection system".
By the way, AC was created as a trilogy, but the story doesn't end there, so they are planning something more, trying to create another game, so they can make more profits for terrible stories (ACB is nothing without Corey May, the plot was really bad, even the ending was so illogical)
Also, as I customer, I had the right to give my opinion of the game and its terrible system. If you don't want to hear about us, simply don't read this post.

Your rage is not going to change anything. TBH I don't want to read your flames to Ubisoft, if you want to be heard, email them in private or something. Don't moan here. This was the first MP attempt by Ubi, and a great one at that. You can't expect it to be bug free, there wasn't a game in history that came out completely bug free. I don't think you understand how computer software works, and that's the truth.
MP matchmaking is fixed now, so if you still can't connect, it's a problem on your side, not Ubi's. Lag cannot be avoided, all that means is there aren't many people in your region playing the game (which is sometimes the case with me). Don't blame the manufacturer if you don't know how to use the product. If you are an online gamer, you should know these things.
PS: And thank goodness they did not just release AC3 and end it there. I, being an AC fan, would be quite disappointed if one of my favourite game's storyline ended.

@neo4lex: Sorry to ask but who are you? How can You come here and tell me "they fixed the connection issues" or "don't moan here, moan privately in a message sent to them". Are you checking the technical problems of the people that are still complaining that you afford to state these things? What is that? Should I walk on my toes and not publically disturb Ubi on the very forums that are supposed to be here for things like that?
MP matchmaking is not fixed for me and I happen to be an IT guy who also checks logs in the router and see what problems seems to appear there. And to be honest - what this? With all the ports and the configurations that are not working properly, releasing a game with port 1000 to be used when under 1024 there should be no port used and most of the ISPs are blocking them by default. I mean we're talking about speciliasts here, right?
So you think I'm raging? Well I didn't even started to be honest.
So go take your check from Ubisoft for your job and stay away from things that you think that you know but you suck at.

Ok, I know this is probably bad net-iquete, and it may be against "forum rules" of not causing conflict or what not, but I will respond to you, as if I was talking to you in real life.
1. I can come here and say "they fixed matchmaking" because I am a massive fan of the franchise who was suffering because of the long wait times etc. The fan that got 100% in this AC game and hammered the previous titles, and played this title religiously since it was out on PC, MP included. And just yesterday, I was happy to find that the matchmaking system was fixed, you now get slotted into a session within a minute (and I don't deny that this may be a high ping session, but that's life innit). Matchmaking WAS fixed, if you have problems, check your freaking PC, because mine works like a charm. Guess what, I did not have to open any ports even, to get the same result, and I am running two Cisco routers bridged, + a software firewall from my AV + a standalone software firewall. So much stuff that should be blocking my connection, but because I tuned everything well, it works without a problem. You say you are in IT? I say, the MP connects perfectly (there is lag, depending on what session you connect to, I admit this, it's part of online gaming...).
2. As I said, I did not have to open any ports to get MP working... Yes, I do admit, bad choice of ports, but the selection does not cause any problems. Think about it, you're an "IT guy", if it doesn't work with closed ports, if it doesn't work with open ports, that must mean the problem lies elsewhere, not with the ports.
3. I don't take cheques from Ubi. I wish I did, would be a great company to work for (Ubi, if you're reading this, I will consider a change of career).
4. I don't think you understand the term "flaming". If I say that Ubi is good and everything is fine, that is not flaming, that is praise. Look up the definition of flaming on wikipedia or something, and you will know what it means. I am flaming right now, I admit, but I was not the person who started the flame war, I am not the one complaining that "Ubi, they must be greedy, they don't provide support etc." every second minute.
Reinstall your OS and see if AC: B works, and you will find it does. Broken config of your workstation is not the game manufacturer's fault.

I don't know your situation, but:
1. The game is not broken. It works fine, judging by all the people on these forums who play it daily.
2. I subbed a ticket about Project Legacy game, and I had a resolution within 24 hours. Again, I don't know your situation, but for me, dealing with Ubi support has been nothing but a good experience.

Guys.
Can I ask everyone to remain civil...
I understand some people are upset about the issues at present, however swearing or posting abuse to others, won't help..
I also understand that some people have no issues with the game, but it's apparent that some do.. so rather than ranting one way or the other, I suggest people try to help each other, if you do not want to contact support.
The fixes posted in the first post, are the current suggestions to get the game working, so please make sure you are at least trying those before contacting support over this problem.

I'm thinking on something. Maybe I'm missing some maps / mods. I'm playing from a PC and after install the autolauncher has downloaded a patch. Then I runned the game and went to the Extra Content menu where I added a code (with success). It supposed to give access to some extra chars, etc. Not sure exactly what. On the cover of my game I also see free downloadable content Animus Project Update 1.0 & 2.0 and The Da Vinci Dissapeareance. How do I know if these things are already 'enabled' / downloaded / added to the game?

I don't think you understand how computer software works, and that's the truth.
MP matchmaking is fixed now, so if you still can't connect, it's a problem on your side, not Ubi's. Lag cannot be avoided, all that means is there aren't many people in your region playing the game (which is sometimes the case with me). Don't blame the manufacturer if you don't know how to use the product. If you are an online gamer, you should know these things.
PS: And thank goodness they did not just release AC3 and end it there. I, being an AC fan, would be quite disappointed if one of my favourite game's storyline ended. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

If you can play Advanced Alliance and have Mont St Michel, you've got 1.0

I did a bit of research on this matter and here's what's my problem and what I tried and current status:
Problem
In multiplayer I'm connecting to a session of games sometimes after 20-30 mins or more. Then I can play a few sessions until I get a disconnect from the host then all the story is back on start.
On the connecting screen I'm sometimes getting 1/6, 2/6, then back to 1/6, sometimes 3/6 and back to 1/6 and so on. Until at some point I get in a session. God knows why.
What I've tried:
* Reinstalled the game
* Added all the ports on my VDSL router (also checked them if they are opened with a software and all are confirmed)
* I have all content updated in game and also the game is patched
* Uninstalled completely my antivirus (NIS) and rebooted
I'm running out of options...
Sigh.

When I'm opening the game and go into the search mode for MP I'm not able to see any active UDP connections (netstat -p udp).
However I'm being able to see all the UDP ports that I added for the game (Ex. netstat -a|find /i "7917").
UDP 0.0.0.0:7917 *:*
When I'm trying to check these ports on TCP connections, there are none.
Not sure if it helps in any way.

I might be wrong but I'm getting back to my original conclusion which is the lack of players on the servers and that's why the long waiting times and not some network issue.
I also think they are inter-connecting players using servers that are close to your location and these servers does not normally interact one with the other. For example if you're in US, you won't going to play on the same servers with EU players.
More specific the servers might reffer to some countries only which are in the proximity. When it doesn't find players on those servers, after a few mins it starts to expand it's search to others.
Might be a theory but other than that I cannot explain the long waiting periods.

Well, I forwarded every single port on Ubi's list (including the one the list omitted: Port 1000), deleted my "Hosts" file, shut down my firewall, updated my PunkBuster, and shut down most background applications. Result: I got a wanted session in less than 15 seconds. As I'm sure you all can expect, I was beyond elated. But as soon as I pressed X (running a wired 360 Controller) to assassinate my target, my game completely froze. I couldn't move, couldn't look around, couldn't press any buttons, couldn't Alt+F4, and ultimately had to Ctrl+Alt+Del out of my session.
Anyone figured out a fix for this?

I have to disagree.
-I've played a few sessions with someone from Turkey. (I live in east coast US)
-The only way for me (as of now) to get rid of the long waiting periods is by connecting my laptop straight into my modem. However that won't be my solution because people in my house needs internet too.

I'm on PC. Well i have never had this much trouble getting into a session. It's rediculous.
All i've been getting for really the past week (and it gets worse each day) is;
waiting...waiting...waiting...disconnected...
waiting...waiting...waiting...attempting to join...disconnected...
waiting...waiting...waiting...finally get to play 1 session...
waiting...waiting...waiting...waiting...waiting... only to play with the same people on the same map...
waiting...waiting...waiting...disconnected...
waiting...waiting...waiting...another sesson on the same map...
waiting...disconnected.
Never been disconnected so often, and never had to wait so long.
I also keep getting the same 2 or 3 maps over and over again.
And i don't understand why i have to wait so long to connect back up to the same people.
Is no one playing anymore? Or are things getting worse?
I honestly have never had this much trouble.
Today i made dinner and ate it while it was searching and waiting. In the end i gave up and quit.
Damn rediculous.

@GallopRider: That sounds like a hardware problem to me rather than a connection one. Reasons for your frozen computer can be very many:
* Faulty memory (RAM)
* Graphic card (make sure you update your drivers to the latest available)
* CPU
@Mouse03: I have a small tip for you. Try to connect to a specific game type rather than going to Play menu. The Play menu seems to start a search for each game type and it takes several minutes for each. I've seen that if I'm going to play game type like Wanted / Assasinations it rather connects me faster (more people that are into them I think).
@riley3664: Use these guides in helping you out to setup port forwarding for your specific router/modem:
http://portforward.com/
Search in the list your specific model and then follow that guide.

You know you should do what I do just don't care about Ubisoft anymore because they don't and will never care about us.
So just go play other games http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Like me at the moment I'm playing Mass Effect 2 , and unlike AC:B, it's better than it's predecessor. I can really recommend the ME franchise. I also understand alot AC:B/ACII gamers play Crysis 2 , this game I can also recommend and it got a MP that does work.
So stop weeping and leave Ubisoft behind you and join the mighty EA :P

Hehe,.. I know what you mean. And I agree, despite the fact that most people are able now to MP, it still has serious issues for some of us.
Imagine what would be if Skype, for example, would start explaining their customers to open ports, forward stuff, etc. Not everyone is tech-savvy and knows what should be done. They just pass through ANYTHING, firewalls, etc.
Also other games too,.. as I said I'm playing with no problems Modern Warfare, Black Ops, etc.
So I think it's just poor networking implementation to this game. Would slap the guys who worked on that module a few times if I would be a nasty Ubisoft boss. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

That's a good suggestion, but in 12 level-ups that's never, ever happened before. I've racked up a good bit of time playing, and never had any issues with ingame lag or freezing before. (I'm running a dual-core hyperthreaded i5 processor, 4gb RAM and an nVidia GPU that's plenty adequate. And I turn the graphics settings down so I get better FPS...)
P.S: I think my 15 sec wait to start up a session was just a coincidence. I waited 45 minutes for another Wanted session and never got one...

@Galop: I wouldn't be so worried if this is just not happening so often. I must confess also that I had a complete freeze of the game (not of the computer) when I first joined a multiplayer session and I tried to go for a kill.
It's either a network or a video glitch, nothing to worry about. If you cannot play at all because of that, you may have to contact support.
~~~~~~~~
Speaking of support,... can any of the forum moderators respond us (I think some others also asked this a few days ago too) - if they have information regarding the networking problem still happening for some of the players and (maybe) to expect another fix soon or they considered the multiplayer matching done and moved forward to other issues?
Thanks!
Many months ago I buyed TF2, now they are releasing a Replay Mode and everyday since then, they are updating the game with constant patches (it's a full week now). Ubisoft takes 2 months and I can't use any online feature!!.
Maybe you should learn from VALVE, they don't release games very often, but when they do, it's a great game...REALLY GREAT. Now, your programmers are working for AC Revelations, it's so obvius that you aren't going to release a patch for ACB, why don't you just want to return the money?? You actually have 90 days to return the game to the store when you bought it and they should return you the money payed for the game.
As alternative you can contact support for this matter, if you have a refuse coming from the shop try to get more info from Ubisoft customer care. They have an address to which you can send the game back and they will pay your money.
I'm keeping it because it wasn't that much (I payed $30 for it) and I still being able to play it single player and from time to time multilayer.
Contact the customer support centers via their online form at:
http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/app/ask/rnv/10
Read on your game manual - last page. Should state that the game can be returned in 90 days and people from your shop should know that's no problem even if you used the serial numbers, they will become invalid after it gets back to Ubisoft.
Weird! The first time I get to this topic appered the message "updated 05/04", now it simply doesn't appear. I assume they know they will never update this topic anymore. At least they prepare us for the notice that we already know "Brotherhood will mantein as it is, because it will involve creating another game, and now we are bussy with AC Revelations"
I know it's not all of the fixes that you were looking for but it is progress. You shouldn't also make assumptions regarding AC Revelations.
Lol! I have re-installed the game to see the description of the new patch (it doesn't appear at ubi.com support/patches) to see it's an error that I never heard someone complained before xD
i think brotherhood was their April's Fool game xD, they continue making jokes about it all the time xD
Alright Ubisoft, count me out! I've had enough. It's been more than a month since I last heard anything from your so-called "customer support". Before that, they had me collect all sorts of data from my PC to send them; only to redirect me to their support forums.
This is not how you treat your customer. I've paid money for a Codex-Edition of which I can only use half. I will not buy any of your future games.
By the way: Does anybody here know to whom I should talk to get my money back? The "support" is not replying.
Read a few posts before your reply. You'll notice we're discussing the same issue - refund. Open up your manual page and read the last page. Should contain information about refunds - in 90 days you can return the game to the shop store or to their address. See what it fits better to you.
It's official! They finally replied today saying that it is all my router's fault and that they can't possibly develop their games in a way that it works with every router out there. Of course I don't get any refund, since the multiplayer is merely a bonus and the game itself is working fine.
This means that the extra charge for my Codex-Edition I paid in part for multiplayer gimmicks is not intended as payment for the game but I might as well have burned. If they offer me something to purchase it does not have to work if there are cheaper versions with less content of the same thing available is basicly what they are saying. And please tell me, Ubisoft, how come all those other multiplayer games I own are working just fine? Why can they make it happen despite my setup?
I know there were many questions even back then when Brotherhood was announced - some asking if it's not a cash-cow being rushed and released so quickly after the major title Assasins Creed II. It turned out that it was, after all, a cash-cow. I don't think I can advise you to wait until the game will be fixed because I belive they have to change the whole implementation of the multiplayer game in order to make it work and that ain't happen. But who knows what will bring the mighty patch 1.0.4 if it will ever be one. :-)
Proof that this is not an issue (always) related to the ports being blocked by a firewall or a router.
Tested with multiple softwares for open ports and all they are open. Tested the router with firewall disabled, firewall disabled in Windows too.
It's just poor implementation of networking connection (multiplayer part of the game). That's why they are stating it's a bonus - you can't complain for bonuses after all, can you? But I don't see anywhere written that the multiplayer part is a bonus to the game. So you can voice for your refunds because you desirve them.
It's easy to pass the guilt on the client's side stating it's the router that is blocking ports, it's their configuration, it's their problem not ours. Well, think again.
Yeah of course, but as I said, I already use it for personnal purposes. Not only to play AC !
So, if people already have a VPN, they have nothing to loose.
On an other hand, you can try with a free one. I know it's limited and a bit unstable but it can be a temporary solution.
I just started using CyberGhost (http://cyberghostvpn.com/) for playing AC-Brotherhood
Works great - really good alternative solution. At least I can enjoy the game.
That free VPN does have bandwidth limit, so be aware and do NOT download while you connect to it. I played for 1-2 hours and used about 60mb - that's not much.
You can search for other free VPNs as well - at least I will.
05-15-2011, 06:11 AM
Ok, I did a few tests, it seems that through a VPN you are getting connected faster than usual. However the latency is literally killing you. :-)
But I guess not all the things can be perfect, especially when you're using workarounds.
Maybe a forum admin could update the connection issues message with the suggestion (coming from the community as I know Ubisoft can't recommend using 3rd party softwares for fixing their issues) to try using a VPN if the other options are not going to solving their problem.
@mindient I know MP is a bonus, but I can't connect anything (not even Project Legacy) or use the "bonus" maps (which I had to pay more for them).
It's stvpid that they say "bonus" and you have to pay more and if it doesn't work, "it is a bonus", so there is anything we can do.
Maybe I'm wrong but as far as I know bonus means FREE.
What are you guys talking about? the multiplayer works fine in my laptop... all i did was set my PC function to high performance and everything just goes fast and it never lags at all...
The only problem I have is that I can't communicate with players that are being stupid in the "manhunt" game... we were supposed to be hiding and what do they do?? They jump around on buildings and have a massive sign on their head that says "shoot me, and get 100-200 points for freeeeeeee!"... the game freezes whenever I hit the voice chat button... they should seriously fix that...
When's the next patch? Please put a patch that stops the game from freezing whenever you press voice chat button.
The server in NZ is alright now... we can play the game here... the only problem is the voice chat...
The reason why your multiplayer won't work is...
a) your computer is slow and it sucks...
b) you don't have patience when you're waiting in that thing where you wait for "Abstergo Agents"
c) somethings still wrong with the Ubi connections (which I doubt)
Don't return your game... otherwise when the servers all fixed you're going to be missing out on A LOT of killing
Right...
1) 3.4 GHz Phenom and Radeon HD 6870 isn't enough?
2) Patience? 45 minutes waiting time for 1 game?
3) Ubisoft tried out peer-to-peer multiplayer connectivity which is 100% failure, because every player does NOT have ports open so they can't play as peer-to-peer. Server-side gaming is meant for reason!
a)I know it's not the best laptop, but it was from 1.5 years ago, 2.4Ghz, Core2Duo, 512Mb Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT. That's enough to play this game (according to system requirement).
b)I have waited 1.5 months to CONNECT to their servers, this means I can't change from SP to MP or UPLAY or PL or the extra content.
I haven't touched single player because I didn't buy it for single player- I played multi on a friends xbox and it was a blast, so I waited 4 months for the game to be released, installed it, and then noticed that...
It doesn't work-
Cheers to all the countries and ISP's with no hack protection, and cheers to those who have DMZ or external IP's they're willing to pay for.
As for me, until there is a practical multiplayer for PC I won't get close to another UBI game again.
You know, a good way to avoid a large portion of users not being able to play, and the resulting lack of gamers is to simply allow for more flexibility with specifying connection options.
For instance, what port does the server host on and all the other details you've abstracted from players.
Does this game require clients to run a server? If so, that would be good to know. I can connect to anything on any port, but can't serve anything at all.
Good news! I finally got it to work. It's no fix but a viable workaround.
You need to install a VPN service called ghostVPN (http://cyberghostvpn.com/). There's a free version of it that has a 1GB/month traffic limit but as long as you only turn it on for ACB Multiplayer and switch it off immediately afterwards, that shouldn't be a problem. You have to register on that website, though, and your account can only be used on one computer but compared to the benefits, I'd say it's worth it.
I've gotten into a match in less than 10 seconds every time since I use ghostVPN.
I just gave it another shot and I've gotten the same symptoms as before, too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
I was so relieved when it worked instantly yesterday but it seems it was just a lucky coincidence. Maybe it's got something to do with the VPN network you're connected with.
EDIT: I restarted CyberGhostVPN, connected again and everything is working smoothly once again. The network I connected to was called "Pegasus". I remember that it was a different one before, so maybe that's a clue.
Okay, it's getting mildly annoying waiting for games...
I waited for an hour searching for just one match, but still 1/6 abstergo agents. Note that I opened all mentioned ports, from my router to my network options, and still nothing.
I still hope Ubisoft will make a patch that will fix this problem, and not abandon us and have us bu Revelations which will break the PC fanbase due to the inherently unreliable MP.
Please, Ubi, I beg you guys!
Hello everyone,
I was able to solve the MP issues by configuring the router to have my PC as DMZ -and- turning the router firewall ON.
It seems my router (Belkin F7D2401 v1) DOESN'T set a PC as DMZ -unless- the router firewall is turned ON.
ONLY setting the PC as DMZ worked, forwarding the ports listed in the first message doesn't solve anything - I don't know what kind of weird connection stuff ACB does for its multiplayer, but it seems that it works ONLY if the PC is completely exposed through a DMZ.
That didnt work for me. Using a VPN server works for me but most of them are blocked here. GhostVPN is blocked. And the one I use has a 30 min limit plus such a low bandwidth that I never get connected to a session. Ok, so I've had a lot of troubles with multiplayer... Opened all ports an stuff months ago when I bought the game and that didn't help at all. I can't mess around with DMZ because my router doesn't allow it, and even if I could I'm not sure I'd do it since my antivirus already reported few attempts of my PC getting breached through some opened ports (and if I understood correctly, DMZ opens all ports)...
The thing that did work is this VPN stuff, kind of. I've started with GhostVPN, but as others already stated not all its servers will get you in the game. Atm, I'm using proXPN (free version), it uses a server in USA and it has no limitation other then the internet speed itself... That's kinda lame because it tends to get very laggy from time to time (and I mean very laggy, sometimes so much I just decide to quit) and there are still many issues with random disconnections, unreachable sessions and similar. But so far that's the best I got... Sometimes it takes me minutes to get into session, sometimes seconds, sometimes never - there are no rules whatsoever with using VPN.
Another thing, no matter how "good" my VPN is working, it takes forever to get into game mods other than 'Wanted'... Is anyone even playing something else?
@SaltShakerz93 My suggestion is to try the proXPN and see how it goes, but as I said don't get your hopes ups even if it works, because it might not do so well the next day (or the next hour for that matter)... Good luck!
All online interaction is still unavailable to me. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
It used to work just fine until about 2 weeks ago. Before then I only got an error message when trying to get my rewards from the launcher. MP and other online interactions were fine and the reward-collecting-issue corrected itself automagicaly. (Although, as of today, my rewards have mysteriously disappeared again; "Uplay is currently not available. but you can still play!" (yay http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif ))
I've been in MP twice, then it stopped working for no apparent reason. Multiplayer and Uplay options are greyed out. Investments are unavailable.
But I can login to Uplay using the launcher just fine.
If I try to directly start the MP client though (using "C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Assassin's Creed Brotherhood\ACBMP.exe" /launchedfromotherexec /onlineUser:*** /onlinePassword:*** as a shortcut) my credentials are not accepted; "Logging in failed. Check your system and internet connection."
I've completely reïnstalled the game _and_ the launcher _and_ punkbuster three times now. I've checked my network connectivity and am convinced there's nothing wrong with it.
Yesterday I was still able to access my profile in Assassins Network (http://assassinsnetwork.uk.ubi.com/) but now even that gives me an error;
"ACService <blabla> no data received <blabla> Content: null"
I've logged a ticket with ubisoft support, but sofar no reply.
I've tried creating a new Uplay account (cuz I suspect my profile has somehow gotten corrupted) but it won't accept my DVD key again ("already in use")
*sigh*
I wish Ubisoft would get their act together http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif
Still no reply (let alone a solution) from ubisoft customer "support" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
Maybe someone here can help:
The standard copy/paste reply which I got earlier from support (and which didnt help) mentioned
"Copy PnkBstrK.sys from C:\Users\[Windows User Name]\AppData\Roaming to C:\Windows\System32 (where PnkBstrB.exe is installed)."
Now I can't find PnkBstrK.sys anywhere. Not on my system and not on my DVD.
It was mentioned during the (re)install of punkbuster:
"Checking PnkBstrK driver status NOT FOUND"
but all PB test results were succesful, so I assume this driver is (no longer) required(?)
Could someone who actually has multiplayer working on PC check if they have this file anywhere?
thanks in advance.
Still no reply (let alone a solution) from ubisoft customer "support" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
Maybe someone here can help:
The standard copy/paste reply which I got earlier from support (and which didnt help) mentioned
"Copy PnkBstrK.sys from C:\Users\[Windows User Name]\AppData\Roaming to C:\Windows\System32 (where PnkBstrB.exe is installed)."
Now I can't find PnkBstrK.sys anywhere. Not on my system and not on my DVD.
It was mentioned during the (re)install of punkbuster:
"Checking PnkBstrK driver status NOT FOUND"
but all PB test results were succesful, so I assume this driver is (no longer) required(?)
Could someone who actually has multiplayer working on PC check if they have this file anywhere?
thanks in advance. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Did a search for it and found it at:
I checked that location and found found the file (odd how Windows search failed to locate it).
I copied it to both \Windows\system32\ and \Windows\SysWOW64. Restarted the PB services... and still can't connect to MP. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
Glad to hear you found the file, but sucks that it still won't work. Wish I can help more, but I have no idea, sorry. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Maybe try updating the support ticket again and see if they have any more suggestions. I'm hoping someone else more knowledgeable would chime in here as well.
Okay so i got this problem: When i want to play ACB online i need to log in. But when i installed the game i didn't feel like making an account online so i didn't. Now i can't log in and play online! What do i need to do?
Lets just hope that there are no such problems in Revelations although I doubt I will buy it seeing as ACB turned out to be a disaster. Might just borrow it off someone to finish the story mode but thats it.
I was iddle from this topic like 1 month ago, hoping that everything will be resolved...again FAIL!!!.
I think Ubisoft will have to think twice about this next game...if the Multiplayer will be the same Sh!t (yeah! i'm skipping your language filter, because I NEED TO SAY MY FEELINGS!!), will loose not to many customers, but...will give us more reasons to be part from the FREE SOFTWARE team (I hope you get the idea).
If you have the b@lls to make a DevDiary or UbiGabe Vids, why don't you USE A DEDICATED SERVERS option, we have been loyals from ACI, at least that is what we deserve as customers...the extra content we get isn't enough....because I CAN'T REDEEM IT!!
I bought the game in France when it came out (24th march), played the multiplayer for a long time...it worked perfect there.
I moved to Belgium a few days ago tried to start a multiplayer game... and nothing, I get the extremely long loading screen "searching for abstergo agents 1/6..."
I opened all the ports mentioned, but nothing, tried everything, I still have the same problem.
There must be a problem with the ISP...
That far from the release and still so many problems with those port issues???? Not normal.
Is there still some hope that a patch is coming out soon?
I don't know what happened, but actually all the problems were solved (at least for me).
I get in matchs in 5 min or less and leveled up to 12 in 2 days...this is perfect. I hope no more problems will show up again.
For those who wanted to know what I did:
-Opened the ports (not using the DMZ option)
-Disabled the firewall from the antivirus (Kaspersky Internet Security)
-Bother support center almost everyday since I bought the game (ask them to test your account)
If that is the case, then ubi must know this, because of the complaints they receive coming from certain countries...
I think it is true what you say. I am also in Belgium, and always the same problem.
Too bad UBI does not inform us the way it should be, nor do anything about it.
Play World of tanks now. There they show 1) How many players online 2) How many sessions going on.
If Brotherhood would show the same info, per gametype, users would know if it is worth to wait for more players or not.
Simple solution, 1 hour programming at max.
If this game isn't getting fixed, I don't buy this kind of è(§"'"! anymore.
Please avoid posting in all CAPS.
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood uses auto save features. The game saves upon completion of missions and side missions (checkpoints are saved automatically throughout the mission) also when collecting items (flags, wanted posters etc).
The Saved games are located here:
In Win7 and Vista
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Saved Games\Assassin's Creed Brotherhood\Saves
In Win XP
So.... since the patch which changed the port to 1000 (how ever long ago that was) I have been in contact with Ubisoft support going round and round in circles!
I have no blocked ports, Punkbuster is working etc .. today i tried to play it again and... Searching.... 1/6 still http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif
Has anyone come across some bizarre reason why this is happening yet?
Or should i just accept that if i want to play multiplayer i will have to wait an hour to join a Session?
Hi to all people who still cant play multiplayer.
I was just like you, i did everything they told me to do, open port ....
But nothing.
even tho my frind who is using same wifi box as mine played alot so i did this to fix it:
I BOUGHT D-Link wifi box.
i spent 200 pound on the newest d-link box and the first moment i started using new wifi box then i opened ACB multi , I swear I joined in less than a second.
Sometime even though you open a port in your wifi, the wifi is being a c*nt and it wont open it just like my old one.
probably 200 pound is too much but im telling you its worth every penny , cos i wont have to open anyports for ACB or MW2.
wish you can play soon.
How quick i can connect to a session depends on the day. On the time too.
But my biggest problems is lag. Terrible lag. One reason is my internet connection and my ISP being crap. But it's just aweful lately.
It used to work just fine until about 2 weeks ago. Before then I only got an error message when trying to get my rewards from the launcher. MP and other online interactions were fine and the reward-collecting-issue corrected itself automagicaly. (Although, as of today, my rewards have mysteriously disappeared again; "Uplay is currently not available. but you can still play!" (yay http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif ))
I've been in MP twice, then it stopped working for no apparent reason. Multiplayer and Uplay options are greyed out. Investments are unavailable.
But I can login to Uplay using the launcher just fine.
If I try to directly start the MP client though (using "C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Assassin's Creed Brotherhood\ACBMP.exe" /launchedfromotherexec /onlineUser:*** /onlinePassword:*** as a shortcut) my credentials are not accepted; "Logging in failed. Check your system and internet connection."
Hey guys, for those of you who were having this problem (or similar) I have a possible solution.
I contacted Ubisoft support and among other things in the response was this: "If you have any other type of firewall software installed, please make sure that it is configured to allow access for the game that you are playing, or disabled. Mcafee Personal Firewall and Norton Firewall are the exceptions, if you have either of these software packages installed, then will need to be completely uninstalled before running the game."
So there you go, I have Norton, I'm not sure I'll unninstall it, but this may help others. Please anyone tell if this works!
Is there going to be a patch that fixes this problem completly? Because it's not cool, I mean, all high tech stuff in it, beautyfull graphichs, amazing gameplay, why to ruin it with freaking ports, can't they just make some server list where you join what you want, not what you roll and get?
Ubisoft your server s.u.c.k.s!!!! Instead of improving your server it keeps getting worse... Today not even single game played... The game gets disconnected every few seconds... This is bad... You are aware of problems with server then why not solve it... Its been 3 months and more you are aware... If your existing engineer's can't solve issue you better open new forum and recruit new engineers... I would be first to join... I can do better programming then you stupid engineers... I did everything to solve this "1 hour waiting" issues altough i still have the same problem. When i open the ports, i could only play the game at that moment but after that it's all the same. I really want to is anyone playing the game or is it just me that i cant find anymore players to start a 6 player match. How hard can it be to find 6 players with at lest from a hundred. Ubisoft MUST make a patch that resolve this issues and quick. Or they will continue to loose players (customers) to other multiplayer games...
