If you're like me, you hate waiting for all those intro screens, only to have to click on "versus" on the main screen to get to the vs. mode.

Well, there is a direct executable for the versus mode, they just never made a shortcut for it! Go into your C:\....\....\Splinter Cell Chaos Theory folder and then the versus folder. So it looks something like C:\whatever\sc3\versus. Then go into system. Scroll down, and find SCCT_Versus.exe. Make a shortcut to that and enjoy!

Good info Spek.

VS. mode was a trip back into a nightmare for me. It's PT baby! Monitor-controlled brightness rather than application-controlled, the "Masked" penlight effect, the, IMO, VERY poor positional sound effects (such as noises on a floor above coming in on same floor and vice versa), the relative percision you need to press wall buttons/etc. without accidentally doing a charge into the wall or a beserk; and so much more!

It all just...just....CAME BACK TO ME IN AN INSTANT!

Does the SvM trailer play or something? Or what do you mean? The thousands of intros playing when you start the game?

Anyway, all I need now is a working copy. Why oh why did Ubi have to take StarFore? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

basically, if u dont create a direct shortcut, you have to open splinter cell, wait 5 secs for it to validate your cd, sit through 20 seconds of intro (ubisoft, dolby digital(wtf) and tom clancy logo) then you have to press the 'versus' button of which completely shuts down chaos theory then starts the program of which spekkio generously linked us to (although i already found out from being so fooking annoyed at this).

Thanks for making that clear.

But I wonder, what's the point of making it a program apart? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

I think because it uses a totally different engine for multiplayer. Is that what you're asking? It needs to run on a different file because it is essentially a totally seperate game. They just use that menu to "join" the game together.
