View Full Version : Servers Not Refreshing Properly!??!

We had a match today, so we loaded an ini file for TWL that had a password.

After the ini was loaded and server restarted, we could not find the server in the browswer. Come to find out, the master browser was showing our server to be NON PB, which is incorrect. Once we were able to find the server everyone joined and match commenced.

Once the match was done, we then loaded the public server.ini file. However, now the master browser showed the server to still have a password and was on the same map we played for the match, Peaks. After a few times of removing the password, loading server.ini, and restarting the server it finally displayed properly in the browser.

And another thing, in order to get the server to even show immediately after loading the different ini, we had to sit there and continually refresh the browser until it finally showed up. It would refresh, ~300 servers, then ~700, then ~750. It seemed that UBI had a problem refreshing the server list.

Has anyone else experienced this frustrating problem this weekend? Is UBI getting too cheap to maintain their master server properly?

I can't say I had that exact problem but mine is very similar. It started last week. I would restart server and it would not show up in browser. When I joined the game I noticed there was no port listed, 7777 is the port we use. I would restart the server again(maybe two times) before we would see it listed. Once the server was showing up in the browser we would join and the port would then be there. /i/smilies/16x16_robot-sad.gif Also last week when starting a server it would only take a few seconds for the game to be registered with UBI, now after PB does it's thing the DosWindow just hangs waiting to be registered with UBI and now takes 45-60 seconds. I was wondering if it was my game now I think it may be UBI. Thanks for your post Kimi.

I've had all kinds of annoying browser issues. Last night I checked our server and it said there were nine people in it. Said the same thing after three refreshed. Join, and it's empty. Leave, refresh the list a couple of times looking for a server to play on, it STILL reports 9 people.

However, the most annoying one. For some reason, most people can't join our server when it's passworded by direct ip. They HAVE to get to it through the list, because it won't prompt them for the password, and just reports incorrect password. Makes matches difficult at times, because as you said, a lot of times after a restart the thing doesn't show up for several minutes, if at all.

My master server listings have always, ALWAYS listed incorrect player counts from day one...

Good point... I just started to admin this server last month. If this is what we have to look forward to, I will not be a happy camper./i/smilies/16x16_robot-sad.gif Pardon the pun

OMG what happened to my post. I posted on here again last night. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Yeah the playerlist has been screwed since day 1. I've never had a problem, though, with my server not showing up on the list or showing up incorrectly. I mean, it was listed as NON-PB, and we have NEVER set it to NON-PB. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Sheesh I wonder if they run their master server on the same box as the forums. I wouldn't put it past UBI. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Well yeah, mine has too, but not to that degree. It's usually just one or two, and on nearly full servers. Of course, we have been getting the server full/slots open bugs a lot more lately, and with even more than just a couple of spots open.
