need help multiplayer

i just got the game last friday and i beat it. i want to do multiplayer. for some reason, it wouldnt let me join any servers. any thoughts?

but the biggest problem i have right now, i refresh, and everything is unknown. maps, mods, game types. they are all unknown. so i clicked a server and pressed join, but nothing happened. thanks for the links though

the links he gave u are so u can patch up to 1.33 u need to patch,in order to join multiplayer,get patches 1.3,1.31 and patch 1.33

ok i now have 1.33, but i still have problems. i am downloading some maps. do you think that will help?

yes the maps will help.we all have been experiencing some login problems,so dont jump ship just yet.they seem to be having some trouble with the main servers.download the mappacks that u find at www.farcry-maps.com (http://www.farcry-maps.com) that will help u.

i downloaded the american an australian packs. but the springcreature far cry pack and the unofficial 1 2 and 3's mirrors cant be found. wierd. sorry for all the fuss. i just wanna play

If everything is greyed out, but you were able to log in, it sounds like not all of the necessary Firewall Ports are open.

which firewall? i have no physical and windows unlocked far cry (as much as i know it did) yes they are all greyed out. ping 9999 and stuff. yeah. thanks for the help in advance

wait didnt think to ask did u just install patch 1.33 or did u install patch 1.3,.131.and 1.33 u need to install all three patches in order,to play.also check to see if your windows firewall is on.if so try turning it off to see.I assume u have windows xp.(home or pro?)

pro. =) anyways. isnt unblocking the program the same as turning it off? and i installed 1.3 1.31 1.32 (not sure if i needed that one) and 1.33.

i have a router, but my cable goes to the router, and the router goes to the wall. and im using norton antivirus... CuZ

Windows firewall is an integral part of the Windows XP operating system (post SP2). While firewalls are necessary for safe internet use, it is possible that windows firewall can restrict your access for online gaming if it has blocked Far Cry for whatever reason. You can configure the firewall to allow Far Cry to use the internet as follows:

Open the control panel and select Windows Firewall.
Select the "exceptions" tab and click add program...
Click the browse... button and navigate to the farcry.exe file in your ..\farcry\bin32 folder. Select this file and click open.
Click OK, Click OK

The windows firewall is now configured to allow Far Cry to access the internet.



thats what cuztds lst stnd gave me. i did that before and i still have greyed servers

ok u need to also unistall all the patches in order again starting with 1.33 and back to 1.3 u do not need patch 1.32.it will mess u up.so uninstall all the patches in order again then reinstall patch 1.3,1.31,and 1.33

just rerun the installers they will uninstall make sure u start with patch 1.33 and work down to patch 1.3 then when u reinstall again start in order to patch again

ok well it has to be in your firewall,like I said,try turning it off real quick and see if that is blocking it.not always a good way to try but is the quickest and easiest way to find out if it is your firewall

What make and model is your router - it may be that it has a firewall within the router which you'll need to configure.

Go to Portforward (http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm) find your router model and click on it. A selection of programs will come up including Farcry. Click on it and get the info to configure your router for MP.

Does anyone remember if Norton products have trouble with FC?

Try removing the router and going direct just to rule out the router.
