It apears to me you guys have russian version.
From what i remeber that version didn't have sf removed from it.
Btw now i've looked closely at that error it seems like a securom 7000 error.

Well, if that is true, I bought something that was said to be SF free. 60â"š¬ to buy a product that is not what I meant to buy. Now I really wish I bought the 40â"š¬ version ;_;
Shameful.

Problem "solved".
You have to remove all the softaware that create virtual device and also remove all the registry entry using a specific program:
First download and install this program provided by Ms.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyI...3927b&DisplayLang=en (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe-4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&DisplayLang=en)
then run this fix.
http://www.securom.com/support/fixreg.vbs
then this other (make sure to type the administrator name).
http://www.securom.com/support/fixreg.bat
Hope this helps.

You mean you can't use Daemon Tools while playing the game? I use that all the time to mount some CDs I need for work - why should a game dictate me what software I can use?

Try disabling the securom module in daemon tools (from options).

I have the same problem, when I launch the game I get an error message;
"A required security module can not be activated. This program can not be executed (6000)."
I've tried using the files provided here (followed the instructions to the letter) uninstalling demon tools and it still won't work.
Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

I have the same problem. Error 7000.
I've brought the Deluxe Edition (german).
I've uninstalled all programs like dameonn tools etc. and disabled the firewalls and antiviruses.
Even the the files provided here didn't solve the problem.
So what is the problem?

Thanks for the tip Unreal, I've already solved it now though.... Not quite sure if it was a combination of a bunch of actions or an individual step....
But it works now anyway.
I just kinda tried everything I found on these forums that was somewhat close to my problem :P
Removed all demon tools data and registry stuff, installed SP2 and running hommV in compatibility mode for 2000.... No individual step seemed to do the trick either. But oh well....

And *THIS* is half the reason games get pirated. I went out and bought the game, payed hard earned money and burned gas to go to the store.
How is this rewarded? With a half baked DRM that won't let me run the fifty dollar game I just bought without making me GUESS which programs it doesn't like. And not only can they apparently just not be running, I can't even have them installed.
Of course the people that downloaded the pirated and cracked version of the game (which was available before the retail here in the US) get to start up the game with no problem.
Way to treat paying customers like criminals.

I have the same problem. I've tried everything advised here and called tech support but I still get the security message.
There must be a solution. Can anyone help me?

Well no reply yet which is disappointing. I still cannot get this game to work and will be returning it to the shop tomorrow.
I was really looking forward to playing this, I will try tonight to get it working so if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

I have purchased the spanish version (with very bad translations http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif , I have to say it) and I couldn's start it because I had installed DAEMON TOOLS. I uninstalled this application and could start the game.
I agree with you that say that they trat customers like criminals.
It is a great pity ...
I have found some bugs and I hope they solve them quick, otherwise I'll never will buy another ubisoft game again and I will make very bad propaganda of this company

I have Daemon Tools and Alcohol 52% both installed, and the game works just fine. It only complains if you rip an image and mount it with the virtual drive. If you have the actual CD in your drive it works just fine. You shouldn't have to uninstall. SecurROM has gotten smarter in these more recent versions. Instead of throwing up an error if you have virtual drive software installed, it actually checks to see if you're using it before complaining.
Try updating to the latest Daemon tools, maybe? Or try reducing you number of virtual drives to zero before loading the game? There are ways to play from the mounted image too, but I suspect they don't want us talking about that in these forums.

I have Alcohol 120%. I clicked 'Virtual Drive' under Options and set Number of Virtual Drives to zero (also available with File->Options->Virtual Drive). I'm running version 1.9.5 (build 3823), the latest version according to Help->Check/Download latest update.
Game works after doing that.

Well finally! After a whole week of trying all the solutions suggested here and by Ubi tech I used a no_cd crack and guess what...works perfectly.
Still, it's disappointing to have to resort to this after spending my hard earned cash but it seems to be the only way I could get the game working.
