That was shooting in a calm, almost millpond like sea, did the guy even miss?

I hope it's harder to shoot straight in a rough-ish sea, far more fun that way! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I was excited, now I'm really excited. Mine is already ordered through EB, so I'm hoping in 7-8 days I'll be really really excited. Taking off Wed-Fri so I may not come up for air until Sun. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

From what I saw he missed twice, one shot over the hull and one shot behind the stern.

Nice tutorial, I like the bits you can hit on the ship and see them destroyed.

Man that was awesome....but I will nitpick a little..

This is where the sound effect would be awesome! But we barely even hear the ship been hit and more importantly there is no delay in the sound from flash...oh well, I'll live, but it would be a nice mod!

We will think of something to remedy that. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hum, seems that you've problem with links in general ... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Try the right clic "save as" option or be sure to have the latest Windows Media player 10.

And for your sig put [/IMG] at the end so we can see your sig picture http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

There is no differance between flash and sound because at that distancethe differance between seeing the flash and hearing the sould would be almost indisinguishable.

Of course it will

Sounds speed : approx 345m/s

Target distance in the vid : 1000m

so below 3 sec delay would be fine http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

here is a speed of sound in different mediums...

The commanding system seems to be very nicely done. It seems though as they haven€t solved the flickering mast problem, full screen anti alias will reduce the problem somewhat though, I hope.

Also the uboat rocks gently in the waves, the gun sight however is rock-stable, kind of strange.

I think the gun sight is gyro-stabilised, or stabilised by some method or another anyway, like the UZO.

Someone was worried that accurate shelling was too easy. Well, this video was in good weather, on a flat sea, with no-one moving or firing back. And the video tutorial guy (who has probably got many hours in SH3 already) still managed to miss a couple of times. (I think the second shot fired through the sight missed, there's a splash in the water in front of the ship I think). The AI missed a couple of times too.

I noticed the gun barrels moving with the motion of the boat, so obviously they aren't stabilised like the sight is. I imagine then, if you set the sight to '1000m' and fire, the gun should wait until it's in the right orientation with regard to the sight before firing...

That is nit-picking really. I was really impressed by the damage the shells did to the ship - I wasn't aware that the masts and cargo could get blown off like that! And when it finally sank, I loved the way its back broke and the superstructure was immersed in a second - after so long with SH2 and Il-2 Sturmovik I'm used to ships that list slightly then descend on the y-axis to the ocean floor, or which rotate to 30 degrees nose-down and then descend vertically... I'm really looking forward to SH3 now!

Is the UZO gyro-stabilised? I€ve never heard that before, are you sure?

This tutorial video answered a nit pick I've had for a while. Notice how as hes shelling the ship the time jumps forward a bit, when this happens you can clearly see that before a ship is destroyed the compartment flooding feature is visualy displayed (not just after a ships been destroyed), the cargo ship is sitting a bit deeper in the water towards it's bow, but the ship is still an active target. YAY!!!!

So it is possible to aim and fire the deck gun yourself?

HeibgesU999

I don't think the deck gun had any form of stabilization. In general it was pretty useless.

Overuse of the deckgun has been a major exploit/cheat in subsims for 20 years.

Yep, deffinatly.

The level of detail in this sim is staggering. Both graphically and in the user interface.

Absolutely brilliant looking.
