Hey Speedy, your Travelling stork thread got deep-sixed, sadly http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Lots of nice messages of support, including mine, that you didn't see. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I just basically said well done for doing work with Engineers Without Borders. An amazing group that I've investigated donating to. Very worthwhile, long-term benefits to be had, on both sides of the coin.

Welcome back, Speedy....and to what a mess! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif I thought about you a couple of times this last two weeks, stuff like: "Will she come back totally changed? Is she even willing to connect to the forum after that experience?" You know, I bet it was something so completely different from what you experience normally and in this forum that it might take some time to adjust again...I agree with Toria: Thumbs up for your work there! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Awww... thanks.
If anything, I was going through cold turkey of no internet or computer access. I do so much on a computer that I don't think I could ever get away from it for the rest of my life! lol. But I missed it in here too. You don't get much chance to be goofy when you're trying to help people out...

Welcome back home, Speedy... you were missed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif Having played the tourist while in Kenya, I am sure your work with EWB-Kenya was helpful, and needed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Yes, I have to admit a camping weekend without a computer goes a bit slow without a computer to check http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif But glad to hear that you're back safe and sound Speedy!

Also, Speedy! Great news that I recalled being mentioned in the thread, but can't find the post for it.

Uru is being released for the Intel Mac! YES!

Uru Live what's Happening (http://www.mystonline.com/happening.html)

So, just save up and get a Intel Mac :P http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Speedy, I did post this in the original "travelling stork" thread, but it was also lost.

They have announced (http://www.mystonline.com/happening.html) the upcoming release of Uru Live for the Intel Mac. So my comment was, now we just have to wait until you get an Intel Mac http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

EDIT: and I posted before I refreshed and saw Toria's post. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Wait until you see the Intel Macs...there's no Intel until you BUY it, extra, of course; there's even no Word program until you BUY it.
I nearly fell from my belief in Apple when I saw that last summer. So go save A LOT of cash, Speedy...

For me, I'll just wait until my Dad has enough of his first compu experience and is handing it over to me....(I convinced him to buy the new Intel-Mac instead of a PC) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

I just read the article about Mac and UrU...and now I'm really depressed: It's not only that I do not own the New Mac with Intel yet, nor do I have or will be able to get broadband in the foreseeable future, but now I have to learn that also my country is not supported by Uru Live!
Oh, gosh.....I think I have to find a support group for this. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

Oh BirLu!!!!

((((((((BirLu!))))))))

Well, usually computers don't come with Microsoft Office programs, you have to buy it extra (from my experience).
I'll think about the Intel Mac. I figured it would be expensive, and since I am still on a student budget with less aid from parents, I need to be sensible and rational on what I get. But my father agrees, I need a new computer for next year.

Perhaps the problem is not getting Office (including Word), but getting Windows (the OS)? That would be a necessity, and it would also be expensive. Look for one that has it bundled (but if they don't do that, you may be stuck paying a few hundred more for the OS).

... FP now wonders if the region limit on Uru can't be lifted for BirLu ... I could think of some minor illegal action to get her among us ... or what?

Aaaaanyway.....

I think this whole crash and restore thing has us all a little burnt. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif It's been a rough week for all of us in one way or another. So on a happier note I am glad to see Speedy back regardless of the circumstances.

Okay, it's not exactly African theme but it's hard to find a welcome home cake that doesn't have someone else's name on it or befits coming home from an adventure. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
