some of you are saying that haze wont sell well because of it not really being that well known. i just want to point out that the name gears of war wasnt known at all,(unlike halo) and yet gears still sold loads and got great reviews.. i think that haze could be the sleeper hit of the year, not forgetting that FRD has made some of the best fps's ever.

Of course GeoW was a new IP, but it had a massive publicity push from MS and was basically the first killer-app for the 360, (Oblivion doesn't count because it wasn't a 360 exclusive). IMO both of those facts mean that it wasn't the sleeper hit you think it was.

On the other hand Haze seems to be a PS3 exclusive now, (which will make a difference to some PS3 owners), and it may well get some support for that from Sony, (I'm still pondering the significance of the recent Haze/DS3 video they put out). On top of that it has a really unique image, a good push from Ubisoft can make a big difference and so can the reviews.

On the negative side it still has the direct competition of both COD4 and UT3, (although if properly marketed it has the stones to distinguish itself from both of those titles), and unfortunately like Timesplitters it may end up a Marmite game, (or a love it/hate it game for those unfamiliar with Marmite/Vegemite products http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif). That's no problem for me, I know I love FRD games, and they seem to have plenty of people that do love their games so they'll probably do fine sales-wise, but as many people will probably dislike it for whatever reason, and that will undoubtedly include some reviewers. I think that's where the real difference could be made. Magazines like OPSM will probably give Haze a decent shout when it comes to reviews, but when it comes to some of the american sites I'm not so sure it'll get such a great reception, especially after some of the recent fawning over 'the nameless one'.

Hopefully Haze will be a big hit though - it certainly seems to haver made a big splash with a lot of people, and although some have been naysayers, a great many others seem to have been impressed.

It's looking likely now that Unreal Tournament 3 may be delayed (on PS3) until early 08, which certainly leaves the field open for Haze as the only exclusive FPS on PS3 this Christmas. Bad news for many people who were really looking forward to UT3 this year, (myself included), but good news for Haze sales with a major direct competitor stepping aside. This isn't a definite though, Epic are currently unsure of the release date.

i think its attention will be made up for from the fact that it's a PS3 exclusive
