yea ofcourse what do u think what makes interaction possible http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/351.gif

um you know that havok isnt the only physic engine right? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/351.gif and yes it is using the havok engine

Havok 2 to be more specific! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

ooo, well the psycics r alrite i guess but i think its outdated because games like halo 2 use havok 3.0(cant member correctly)

I don't think CT uses Havok does it? Awesome!

ye tho they should of made more use of it,theres only little items which really use it like little things on tables and stuff like that(not including bodies)

Sorry, but you've been here six months and you still speak like that?

Anyway. Maybe I'm confused. (Don't know squat about engines, or anything like that.) Doesn't SCCT use ragdoll physics? Or is that just a type of physics and Havok is... something else? I don't know. My head hurts. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Havok is a physics engine that calculates any physics involved in a game. Ragdoll is a part of that.

Ah. I see. Thanks.

Ragdoll physics is just a name given to the ability for a mesh using IK to go "limp" with proper constraints and resistances, the idea being that the game can properly and realistically simulate arbitrary motions of a limp body. It makes for limitless death animations.

Havok is a physics engine that calculates physics interactions in a game.

Another less-known physics engine out there is Meqon... it's being used in the elusive Duke Nukem Forever. Meqon 2.0 was recently demonstrated at the GDC, and we'll probably see more of it on the nex-gen consoles. It claims to be a more robust and accurate physics engine than anything on the market...

havok 3.o isn't even out yet... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

/\ quite an amazing feat considering havok 3.0 isn't evea available yet. chaos theory uses havok 2.0, 3.0 or "complete" won't be available for a while, it'll be used next gen, like someone else said.

o soz bout the havok thing my bad,and omega i just said not including bodies because i wasnt talking about them, but i knew that had physics such as ragdoll :P

I was pretty sure CT isn't using Havok, if they are its an appalling waste. Doesn't it use the standard Unreal Karma physics? Like UT?

i thought ubi said they based there engine of something else maybe UT but have tweaked it alot so it is sort of there own engine. i swear i have read about it somewhere im sure someone could ind it somewhere

i knew it was somewhere read This (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=21085) it explains and clears up a bit more

i dont think is havok either...because the physics arent that good at all, like when u shoot something off a table,it goes flying but the body physics is fine

did you not read the linkl i posted just before your reply it clearly says 'We are using Havoc for the physics of the game'

If memory serves, its using havok and ragdoll physics.

never clicked that link...well i dunno why but the havok sucks in this

Um... Havok is pretty much just the physics engine. Two games using Havok aren't going to look exactly the same, but the physics will be very similar. I think that Splinter Cell is using Havok for ragdoll effects only, because like someone else said, when you shoot something off a table it'll go flying way too much.

yeh that was me about the table thing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif lol and for an e.g. u could compare halo 2 physics with scct, there totally different and they supposedly use havok(i know halo 2 does 100% cause its got the logo on the bak of the cover)
