I bought Rainbow Six Vegas a few weeks ago. After playing through the single player, I was ready to go online and play some multiplayer. When I went to the server list, no servers appear. I press refresh list and there are still no servers.

What gives?

I have noticed that when I start Vegas, it runs a GameUpdate application that either fails with a 404 error or tries to download and gets stuck at 0%.

I already installed the 1.06 patch. I thought that was the latest version...

I have noticed the wierd update error also (just the past couple days)?
This game has been a big bummer since launch (so, I've read)
I only had It a couple months myself. But, have noticed alot of server crashes (at least every hour or two) sometimes 5-15 mins?
I have been hearing rumors of UBI "telling us some Info we will like" by the end of june http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/354.gif
So, we will see If It's hot air or they will make It up to us?
I'm of course hoping for the latter of the two http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif
anyway, just keep trying to get online! It will work sometimes. I have been able to play from 1-3 hours "sometimes" but, most likely only 30min-1hour http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif http://luckyjane.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/foghorn-leghorn-thumb.jpg

You can't see any servers because there aren't any... Ubi servers keep melting (they are made of butter, and sat in an oven by my reckoning)... So even when there is a few games to play, they might be running for a few hours, they might only be running for two minutes.

When one host goes down, so do the rest, hence no games... The problem IS NOT your computer... IT IS UBI's fault...

Wow, that's pretty pathetic that a big name game like this that has been released for so long is still plagued by connectivity problems.

Is there a good way for me to tell ubi that I won't be buying any of their games unless they fix this?

You could try lodging a ticket with TECH SUPPORT (http://ubisoft-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ubisoft_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php?p_sid=uDwhAQVi&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=&p_li=) but they'll try telling you to forward your ports or disable your firewall, they won't face the fact that it's their servers at fault...
