It's not an answer to your question, but rather a suggestion. Depending on your system, you might not want to run above 1024(?) anyway. It might make your game unresponsive to any key or mouse input, as well as stall it by a huge amount. It did happen to me, and right now i am cruising at 512, and it's just fine

SH3 allows you to customize time compression. I've been able to get mine up to 4096, but it stutters too much for my liking. 2048 runs better. Strangely, I can get 4096 to run fine when submerged, but who wants to dive at 4096?

Yes, but where? Is the Main.cfg in the Data\Cfg folder the right place? And if it is, why wont it work?

This is how my Main.cfg are at the moment

[TIME COMPRESSION]
TimeStop=0
RealTime=1
LandProximity=4
CriticalDamage=1
CrewEfficiency=1
AirEnemyDetected=1
SoundEffects=2
CharacterAnim=4
EnemyDetected=8
RadioReport=8
Particles=8
PrayState=8
HunterState=32
3DRender=32
Maximum=2048

Change the main.cfg file in your "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\SH3\data\cfg" folder. Or use a program like SH3 commander. I use 2048 on my system and yeah it lags a lot (when other ships are around) but I don't care, I'm not doing anything while running that high anyway.
