This needs to change...now. in all sc's when you switch on your NVG you would see grey. i dont really care about the realistic about it, but they need to change the color. like green in real life which is a more satisfying color for NVG. i dont know about yall, but the NVG in scct bothered my eyes a bit.

I don't know what you're trying to say. Do you want it to be green, or grey? Try forming more complete sentences, you sound illiterate.

How about red, i think that would be really cool like blood, like your in battle rage mode and your an animal and you need to kill so you see red cause your sam fisher and you kill alot of innocent people, sam loves killing innocents. I think Sam killed his own daughter personaly by cutting the break lines in her car so that he could collect insurence money. If you play through pandora tomorrow the 3rd level he mentions that he has a large policy on Sarah. Red is a cool color and it goes really well with black so it would be like seeing red in the black and then you could be like im not Sam fisher im SAM FISHER THE KILLER. WHAT DU U GUYS TIHNK? 360 4 lyfe!

It is like 2 years in the future. How will you know what NV looks like then.

Red is infrared. Green is night vision. grey and white are thermal imaging/infrared.

i clearly stated i wanted the NVG green.

Sporeflower

Well, it wasn't very "clear" given that you can't make complete sentences. Anyway, in CT, it was green. You may have had it confused with the thermal infrared(thats the one that looks like someone spilled Froot-loops all over the floor). Or, maybe you're colorblind to some shades of green, since you seem to be able to find Marijuana pretty easily.

but in chaos theory the night vision IS green....

see the difference? CT's night vision definatly has more of a green tint...

Except in the 1st pic hes in a vent, and in the 2nd one hes in a cave with ambient light, so its brighter. But if what youre trying ot say is that one is more green than the other, youre right. But if youre trying to say ones gray, youre wrong.

HorTyS
01-20-2006, 09:27 PM
so the pic from the first SC doesn't look grey to you?

here's a pic where hes in some light with NVGs. pretty grey...

Sporeflower

Looks more green then gray. The only things that look grey are the objects that are actually colored grey.

HorTyS
01-20-2006, 09:40 PM
the only green i see in that last pic is on the hud...

maybe you should adjust the color settings on your monitor, that $#!+ is grey...

Sporeflower
01-20-2006, 09:43 PM
Except the color composition shifts more towards green then red or blue, technically making it green.

HorTyS
01-20-2006, 09:46 PM
of course it's more green than red or blue, but orange is more red than blue but that doesn't make it red...

Sporeflower
01-20-2006, 09:49 PM
If it were true grey it would be equal parts of red, green, and blue. Much like white is 255 red, 255 blue, and 255 green.

ok, so technically the old SC's had a slightly (very slightly) green tint in the night vision, but all i'm saying is that CT has a much more green tint to the NV than the previous installments, as evidenced in the screens i submitted, where as the original posted seemingly implied that it was as grey as all the rest. he said, "in all sc's when you switch on your NVG you would see grey" but in SCCT, you would see much more of a green vision than grey... thats all i was trying to say.

Tamand
01-20-2006, 10:07 PM
So technically he is right and your technically wrong.

Sporeflower
01-20-2006, 10:07 PM
So we're in agreement, it is green. I say we move on to greener (or stupider, given the overall content on these forums) pastures.

MKCC14
01-20-2006, 10:12 PM
yeah, it is kind of green. but still...it really irritated my eyes at some points. maybe they can make it more cleaner this time around.

HorTyS
01-20-2006, 10:16 PM
ok, i'll direct my comments towards you MKCC, since you seem capable of civil conversation. i think that the thing that must be irritating your eyes is the graininess of the picture when NV is switched on. this is done on purpose because thats what NV goggles actually look like. i have a friend who was in the navy and said he wore a pair of them, he said the grainy look is acurratly portrayed in the game...

He's right. And I think they didn't make it too green because it would have bothered our eyes. The NVG in the first 2 games was grey and it was kinda' dumb. In CT they put in some green, just a little and it looks great! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

HorTyS
01-21-2006, 02:09 AM
i do think the NVG look much better with the heavier emphasis on green in CT. the first 2 games made it look like an oldies movie when you switched it to night vision...

soul.Fivebla
01-21-2006, 02:25 AM
to make it clear now:

sc1: grey
sc2: grey
sc3: green <-- because of the realism... the real nvg also gives u a green picture because the human eye can better see contrasts in green than in blue or grey... ... the huds of most fighter jets are also green... just because of the human eye... they could also make it blue red or pink... it has nothing to do with the technology or whatever... its just for ouerselves.

Here's the fact of the day: "With the proper night-vision equipment, you can see a person standing over 200 yards (183 m) away on a moonless, cloudy night! Night vision can work in two very different ways, depending on the technology used.

Image enhancement - This works by collecting the tiny amounts of light, including the lower portion of the infrared light spectrum, that are present but may be imperceptible to our eyes, and amplifying it to the point that we can easily observe the image.

Thermal imaging - This technology operates by capturing the upper portion of the infrared light spectrum, which is emitted as heat by objects instead of simply reflected as light. Hotter objects, such as warm bodies, emit more of this light than cooler objects like trees or buildings."

All the goggles do is interpret stuff, the color has nothing to do with how they function, so you can have any color tint you want. Green is comonly used because it is the easyest color to see camoflage patterns with, however grey may be used in urban areas (like where sam hangs out) to make it easier to pick out objects in that environment.

lol, OWNED.

Why are people even argueing about this? It's not up for debate.

Splinter Cell: Gray Nightvision
Pandora Tommarow: Gray Nightvision
Chaos Theory: Green Nightvision

This is not a matter of opinion, this is fact. It was a big buzz about a year and a half ago when we were all excited about Chaos Theory. Ubi anounced the new SC would have green nightvision.

Perhaps something is wrong with your color settings, (topic starter) so you can be excused. However, those of you who continue to insist that it was gray in CT or green in the first two, or whatever the hell you're talking about are just plain ignorant.

I'm sorry I must put it so bluntly, but some of us, (hortys mainly) simply know more than you do. If you have no idea what you're talking about, please refrain from posting in the future. There are plently of forums where n00bs can hang out and talk about ****, I see them all the time. However, this is a serious forum for serious people who want to learn more about a great game, not argue about what color the ****ing goggles are.

Thank you, have a nice day.

umm we already sorted it out so all of that was unnecessary. i already said that even though i just found out it was green, it was still kind of messed up.

wow, actually this is a serious thing here. i use the NV most through the game, and it irritates the vision of the game to my eyes a little. if it is something that you use throughout the whole game, then it is serious.

Thank you for reitirating my post. If you read it, you'll find I agree with you. I was refering to the arguement about the slight color varation in between the three games. This forum is for people who actually want to discuss real topics, not flame ones other people make.

To restate, we are on the same page. I agree with you here, Nightvision is very, very serious, it's an intergral part of the game. Argueing about a .5 differance in the color spectrum is NOT serious.
