Hi there,

I cannot connect to any on-line game. I have set up my account and try connecting and punk buster does not connect and therefore bombs me out of any connection. I have turned my firewall off and run FC2 as administrator. I am running vista 64bit, my new gaming rig, fully loaded to play latest fps games. Very disapointed.

I went to the punk buster site downloaded the latest version. Still no good.

This is not good enough, I but FPSs for multiplayer, and Far Cry 2 is a case in point. Could do and should do better Ubisoft.

Any suggestions welcomed.

go to evenbalance.com (punkbuster site)
find and download pbsetup, open it.

Select far cry 2 in the game list, in C: Program files, Ubisoft, Far cry 2, BIN, make sure its in BIN, not in the overall far cry 2 folder, then keep updating it once in a while. runs perfect for me on 64 bit now.

I am running Windows Vista 64 bit and I have the farcry2.exe in the Program Files(x86)\Ubisoft\Far Cry 2\bin\farcry2.exe and for some reason punkbusters setup doesn't see it. I tried downloading the patches manually but it didn't help. Any suggestions.

I'm going to move this over to the PC Forum (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/5071014757). http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

PBSETUP (http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php) does not detect anything. You open it up, choose the game you want to update, then choose the installation path where the Punkbuster folder (named "pb") for that game is located. It will then update the files in that folder.

Example: Program Files(x86)\Ubisoft\Far Cry 2\bin

This is the correct path to choose because this is where the "pb" folder for Far Cry 2 is located.

Read this (http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsvcfaq.php) page, then download PBSVC and run it. It will tell you if all Punkbuster services are functioning correctly.

I had to put pb (the full file) in sys32 and WOW64, as well as appdata>punkbuster>FCX. I DO have it in the bin as well, it wont function without it there too.

I've run Far Cry 2 on both Windows XP and Vista 64, and I've never installed pb to System32 or SysWOW64 when using PBSetup. However, I have run PBSVC, and I'm pretty sure it adds the necessary files to those locations without having to do it manually.

Where is sys32 or do you mean Program Files(x86)?
Where is WOW64. I press ~ (tilde) in the game and it says Punkbuster *DISSABLED* How do I enable it?

Heres a tip:

Use your start tab to search your pc for what you are looking for. just type sysWOW and it will bring up the folder you are looking for. Click on it and presto you are there.

Yes this game is a pain to play, but dang it people learn to use a PC if you are going to game on one. Thats a very very basic function of your PC.

Sorry, servers are down and Im grumpy.

Also, i am tired of answering the same easy questions over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over....well you get the idea http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
